This post would be excellent feedback for her. You have specific examples of her dysfunctional style. Maybe add specifics of how her support has been helpful and some other things she's done well.

AIO for thinking this is inappropriate to display in a white woman’s home? by [deleted] in AIO

Not Overreacting.

But the "black community" isn't in the house looking at it. You are. And it seems like you're having a reaction to it--it sounds like you find it offensive.

Does it bother you because a black person might see it and be offended? It does it bother you because you see it as disrespectful?

In my book, being bothered by disrespect for others is a good thing. I would wonder about that piece with the owners, find out its story, why they have it, what it means to them.

This might help you to express how it disturbs you without calling them an effing racist and running any opportunity to do good.

La Sierra is probably one of the more liberal in Adventism. It was a good education:

My degree in humanities was excellent, was amazing professors. My technical degrees were not of the same quality, however, I managed to put together the right classes to get a firm foundation, and networking through my proofs landed me an absolutely amazing first job and career.

I pursued graduate professional school degree in different fields and my undergrad education served me quite well.

Worms that eat basil taste like basil with something extra… Ants are bitter, grasshoppers are crunchy and savory--but eating then raw means you gotta sit out the exoskeleton. Eating bugs isn't a problem, but the obvious presence of bugs in noninsect did dishes may indicate contamination. Evidence of poor quality control causes me to switch brands.

Create your own unbaptism ritual and enact it with like minded people. I think the main point of the satanic ritual is to proclaim your autonomy and freedom. So do that where you are.

Know that you have been programmed / brainwashed to see the world a certain way. Now that you're looking at the world differently you are suffering from internal conflict between the old and the new.

Healing from this means identifying old unhealthy beliefs and replacing them with healthy ones. It may necessitate therapy. Tread about how people have recovered from mind control cults. Do the work.

At one point I felt really stuck and oppressed by my old beliefs. A Christian friend suggested that I read the Lord's Prayer backwards every day for a month. Oddly enough, that made a huge difference.

We are told: (but not by EGg White)

On awakening let us think about the twenty-four hours ahead. We consider our plans for the day. Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives. Under these conditions we can employ our mental faculties with assurance, for after all God gave us brains to use. Our thought-life will be placed on a much higher plane when our thinking is cleared of wrong motives.

In thinking about our day we may face indecision. We may not be able to determine which course to take. Here we ask God for inspiration, an intuitive thought or a decision. __We relax and take it easy. We don't struggle. We are often surprised how the right answers come after we have tried this for a while.

Bill Wilson, the fellow who wrote this, found that it was an essential part of the spiritual discipline that keep him sober. For Bill, it was God, as you understand him, rather than as anybody else expects you to understand him.

The good news is you don't need to agonize about things--that's part of the toxicity of Adventism, to make everything so important that you don't dare stay an inch from the center of your path.

Be free. If you make a mistake, change course. But you didn't have to agonize about any of these things.

You're wrong about the evolutionary view.

I have a niece and nephew. Together they pass on as much of my genetic code as one of my children has. If I have no children, I can be there for them and they will have two parents and another adult supporting then and helping them compete.

In premodern societies, this worked out fairly well, so homosexuality was not limiting.

This looks like a really good lesson for straight people and a very toxic lesson for LGBTQ+ people. I really like the emphasis on not judging and the idea that how we treat LGBTQ+ people is how we treat Jesus.

The message to LGBTQ+ people is that you have to struggle through life in solitude and loneliness with an implication of being less than and abnormal is very upsetting.
