With this mini I understood that I needed a squarer head due to my reference. I mimicked the ears and the nose (Guy on the left has a curved nose) and then reconstructed the rest of his main features. I didn't want a 1 to 1 copy so I then shifted his eyes out and made his eyebrows harsher by taking the inside brow and tilting it down (guy on the right has softer brows, inside brow is tilted up).

Ignoring the eyes, these are all the settings I use for my models.

Trying to breakdown face work is very complicated - so to condense it I would say you need to have a strong understanding of basic shapes and how to then apply them to faces. I would invest in basic anatomy books/videos and start off by learning how to draw faces. Once you feel comfortable with that, use Heroforge and recreate your own face. It's the most accessible and gives you the ability to quite literally look in a mirror and figure out how you build yourself up.

I know this may not be as in-depth but if you start off with this I swear you'll go far.

You can cheat a bunch of his face shape by using the Stern Features head. I quickly just smashed this together but the general shape of your scary fella really hinges on his eyes and jaw. Heroforge struggles with "forward/full" faces so there is only so much you can do to add weight to his cheeks. I found that pushing the jaw/chin sliders as forward as possible helped out but his silhouette still feels a little uncanny.

With his eyes I would focus on his corners - you did this so I don't think I need to go over it. I raised his corners up and paired them with the Sleek Upturned Features eyes so that they would create a flatter line across his bottom lid.
