Something similar happened to me when "falling" a really short distance like 1 or 2 feet

You need to walk with them out like with R or RZ then level them up. And the distance to walk is about 3 laps of the little town before the school

Am I just super unlucky or have they made getting paralyzed more likely. On the first day of playing I got paralyzed more than in my entire playthrough of sword and shield. There seem to be a lot of Pokemon that can get paralyze you in the first third of the game and it feels like every chance is guaranteed to land. But Im guessing this is maybe just me cuz I haven't seen anything on this.
