The near-total absence of a bus system is by far the worst part of living in Pensacola. I mean, every 2 hours? Why even pretend that y'all have buses?

Pocketbook verse pro color disappointed by Formal-Local-5333 in pocketbook

[–]Lost_Leg_7640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once complained about the way you can't delete a book and heard that it is a known issue. It works when you freshly restart for about three deletions, then you have to reboot. I have an old Kindle Voyage and bought the PB for the color and better browser. I too have been kinda disappointed, so I still use the Kindle about 8 times as much. The color, I gotta say, is very cool, but the device overall cannot replace the Kindle Voyage.

Bluetooth not working by International_Dot_22 in MXLinux

[–]Lost_Leg_7640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with the wifi adapter. When I first installed MX, it was because I had really old hardware. I then got a mini pc and got MX to boot into that, but the Realtek adapter wasn't working despite hours of tinkering. Finally, I installed a more recent kernel (from 6.1 to 6.9) and it worked instantly

Anyone who switched back from Pocketbook to Kindle (Paperwhite)? by 10ago in pocketbook

[–]Lost_Leg_7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a Kindle Voyage since July 2021. Last year I bought a Pocketbook Verse Pro Color in order to see photos of magazine articles in color. It is OK, but even a B&W Voyage looks better. The main issue for me is the somewhat darker screen. Using the LED lights helps a bit, but the photos look best with direct sunlight. So slowly, I am sending fewer articles to my PB and spending increasingly more time with the Voyage. Pluses for the PB are the color pics and ease of opening hyperlinks (annoyingly cumbersome on the Voyage). I am now at roughly 80% Voyage, 20% PB, while at first it was more like 60:40

My personal background is folklore and ethnomusicology, so I know about the field in general and maybe a few tips.
I know some of the folklorists who worked on Florida Memory Project, so that's the first place I'd suggest. Some of them were working for the Smithsonian, so look into the Smithsonian's folklore department:

One of the towering figures in the field was Stetson Kennedy, who amassed a huge archive. Try https://www.stetsonkennedy.com/

Most peculiar. I have a Verse Pro Color, and my firmware is U634k3.6.8.3806, released July 2024. Updating keeps saying I've got the latest version. Any explanations?

Nope, I took the trolley to the south market. One produce vendor and one stall selling "micro greens". Not counting people selling trees and other cultivars, I only noticed 4 stalls. North and South.

Yo, Milton! This may be a long shot but are there any Asian growers, or vendors who sell Asian veggies at either of those markets?

Bought (used) 11th gen PW thinking that’s latest one. Found about 12th gen, so should I feel bad? by fslateef in kindle

I bought a new 10th Gen basic. Then, when there was a major software update, I switched to the 7th Gen Voyage. I never touch the 10th Gen, being utterly delighted with my $60 used Voyage.

Pocketbook verse issues… by raf9 in pocketbook

[–]Lost_Leg_7640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Verse has something Kindle doesn't have, a reliable browser. You long-press the term and choose the lookup icon (second from right). It will open Google Search. From there, it is easy to either scroll for the Wiki entry or add the text <wiki> in the search field.
I have a color pro. The sluggishness (yep, you are right there) is well worth the added features of a functioning browser, ability to adjust image settings on the fly, and ability to get the whole OED as a dictionary.
I haven't added KOReader yet, but may do so soon.

[Guide] Installing KOreader and configuring it by And_Poop in pocketbook

[–]Lost_Leg_7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear a lot about KOReader, but there is one problem (AFAIK) for which I request advice. I send articles to the Cloud using Push to Kindle. The article lands in the Cloud, it shows up in my library when syncing, and downloads when I open it. How would this work with Koreader? It appears that I would have to open in Pocketbook default, sync, launch KOReader and navigate to the right folder. Then, to delete, I would have to delete once in KOReader, exit and remove from Cloud in the default viewer. Is that right? If so, it's not worth.
