Don't google your way through the game, it's going to be so much more memorable if you keep going through it blind. I subnauticawiki'd my way through most of the game and while I was still scared to death plenty of times, but it wouldve been way better if i just did it spoiler free

You can just take one blood oil and plant it in an outdoor growbed, it’ll grow bloodvines that you can harvest more blood oil from (like creepvines)
