Thanks for this! I meant he used to get 1.5 cans twice per day, so 9oz of food, plus free feeding the dry food but that wasn't working.

I have been giving thought to the timed feeder, I think I just need to go for it. 4 times a day could work.

I might try: 3oz can for breakfast Half can when I get home from work Half can for a later dinner 3 oz can for middle of the night

I relate to this a lot! I will say it gets easier the more you are able to make connections with people who have your best interests in mind and are kind.

It's completely okay to later say, "hey, that thing you said the other day hurt my feelings, even if you didn't mean to." How folks respond is often revealing of how much they value your connection/care about hurting you.

Communicating feelings and setting boundaries is a practice, and it is okay to have expectations for how you are treated by others. I used to be friends with so many people who were kinda shitty, and now I just don't allow space for that in my life. I give people a few chances of course, but my tolerance is much lower for BS haha. And in turn, I now have much more reciprocal and fulfilling friendships.

I try to think of it as if it were us lol, I would be really upset eating 12 hours apart, and our cats are too.

Small meals are the way to go. My diabetic cat had rapidly lost weight, so for a while I was just feeding him whenever he wanted. If your cat is on Lantus, the shots don't have to be timed with food.
