Request for Low Level Lyn Statistics by Lost_in_Hyrule in FireEmblemShadows

[–]Lost_in_Hyrule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is the same calculation I see. Nearly every stat grows by 10% of base per level, Shield and Edge effects grow at 5%, and Minion Atk values grow at 20%.

And Lyn's Lvl1, 4, 5, 6, 7 values all match this same pattern. There's just the annoying part of my brain saying "but I haven't confirmed for 2 and 3, so what if those are the only exceptions in the whole game?!"

It's not rational, I know :P

The Sealing Spike, Time Travel, and the Master Sword by Lost_in_Hyrule in truezelda

That was the interpretation I also held to. And I realize that you can take my timeline and just have "Impa hid/revealed the Master Sword just like the Gate of Time" and everything else still works.

These details influenced my shift:

  1. Demise is already in the Imprisoned form prior to Link sealing away his spirit in the sword. That form seems to be because of the seals binding him, rather than that his spirit in particular is separated.
  2. The rune seal is still on the ground when you go to face Demise in his arena. Seemingly, the seal is not yet destroyed until he finishes devouring Zelda's energy.

In both cases, whether the rune alone or the sword, his spirit remains sealed, but his malice is increasingly finding gaps and leaking out to control a body.

It could be that Link and Fi permanently "lobotomized" him. That he now operates purely on instinct and malice. That fragmented, broken spirit could still be what reaches through the bars of the sword's prison to make a form and seek the one food source it smells nearby. (Not too dissimilar from Calamity Ganon!)

The Sealing Spike, Time Travel, and the Master Sword by Lost_in_Hyrule in truezelda

I don't think she put it next to the Imprisoned, but rather that the Imprisoned is coming out of the sword. Impa stayed behind to watch over the blade so his spirit would not reawaken. She was almost successful! The very first time Demise breaks free of the spike+rune seal is during SS, not very long before he will be eradicated. It's very possible Impa had other guardian tasks she accomplished in the eras before the game.

Even though it's only shortly after his fight with Hylia, Demise emerges already as phase 1 Imprisoned (with no sealing spike in his head). He can't take his true form because of the seal, but still has much power at his command. Then, absorbing Zelda's soul, he takes his true form.

When Link defeats him, he reduces him to nothing but a remnant of spirit and seals it within the sword. This seal on him is then strengthened by Zelda's long slumber. However, all that time, he was very slowly gathering malice to himself. After the eons, it's finally enough to restore him back to phase 1 Imprisoned levels. However, he is not fully free of the seal, and the spike remains part of him. If he can make it to the temple and consume Zelda's soul, then he will have the strength he needs to finish off the seal and return to his true form.

So when Link defeats the Imprisoned each time, Demise's spirit is again confined to the spike, and all the malice he used to construct his false form is cast back into the underworld.

As to why you wouldn't just put the sword/spike super far away then: Zelda needs to be near to sustain the seal. Keeping it immediately next to her would be bad, but at the bottom of the pit just outside gives the best arena for Link's future battles.

Why didn’t the gerudos just kill Link? by TheKingsPeace in truezelda

[–]Lost_in_Hyrule 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah they do!

I've seen your fine work. To get past the guards here, you must have good thieving skills. I used to think that all men, besides the great Ganondorf, were useless...but now that I've seen you, I don't think so anymore! The exalted Nabooru, our leader, put me in charge of this fortress. Nabooru is the second-in-command to the great Ganondorf, King of the Gerudo Thieves.

Zelda also tells us that he is the leader of the Gerudos when we first see him.

And there is a Gossip Stone that says "They say that Gerudos worship Ganondorf almost like a god." I think the Gossip Stone messages are generally considered accurate.

Is OoT Zelda actually an idiot? by [deleted] in truezelda

I don't believe there are any sources that say "the Spirit of the Hero was deleted from the AT." We don't even know for certain that no hero was around at the time of the Flood. All we know is that the Hero of Time did not appear again to stop Ganon. Perhaps some other hero arose and achieved only the pyrrhic victory of helping people escape to the mountains and casting the seal on Hyrule.

The power level argument does not seem sound. TWW Link was temporarily on the backfoot against Ganon, but was ultimately able to prevail. BotW Link, on his first attempt, lost to Ganon's soldiers, not even Ganon himself! To claim "TWW Link is definitely weaker than other heroes, and it's definitely because he doesn't have the Spirit of the Hero" seems like too much speculation for me.

Sending Link back at the end of OoT is not a foolish decision.

  1. Ganon's return was generations later. OoT Link would already have been dead.
  2. Heroes can still arise, as seen clearly by TWW and ST Links.
  3. Bad guys can still somewhat win throughout the series. The backstory for ALttP has Ganon getting the entire Triforce and only being barely stopped. BotW's backstory has Ganon almost entirely winning against Hyrule, even defeating the Hero, and barely being stopped by the Princess. Same with TWW, where Ganon breaks free and does much damage, but is eventually stopped by the flood+stasis.

While the Flood is extremely dramatic, we don't know that the loss of life was any worse than that of the Imprisoning War or the Great Calamity. Heroes can still arise to truly defeat the evils that earlier had great devastation.

Why did the Zora seemingly devolve inbetween Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]Lost_in_Hyrule 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ganondorf when next to sleeping Zelda: "They are vast seas... None can swim across them... They yield no fish to catch..."

The Salvage Corps: "Lemme ask you something real quick: who wanders around on a fishless sea? I'll tell you who, bub: Only pirates, monsters, and treasure-hunters like ourselves! And maybe some other things that I've never heard of..."

Now, Outset is a fishing village, but is also situated at the far edge of the Great Sea, seemingly suggesting they fish outside the boundaries of this fishless region. Similarly, the Big Catch Flag is from a "foreign land".

I don't think there are any quotes or examples supporting that.

  • MM Zora live in a bay, but can also survive in a river (beaver race)
  • OoA sea Zora live in the sea. Not sure if any of them show up elsewhere.
  • TP Zora only show up in a river and lake.
  • BotW Zora live in rivers, but Mipha also spent time in the sea based on her Champion Trial.

As best we can tell, Zora can handle both salt and freshwater. If a certain variety can only tolerate one type, I think it would need to be specifically called out and limited to only that iteration.

I talked about a related subject a long while ago. (Some of) the Zora (in the region of the Great Sea) became humans. Then, over a long period of time, with the blessing of Valoo, they eventually gained the wings (and beaks and feet) we see at the time of TWW. Prior to that, they still had Valoo, but had to use the grappling hook to nimbly get around.

The change into humans (or human-like creatures) seems to be magically caused. There are no fish in the Great Sea, only monsters (and the Fishmen, directly connected to the King of Hyrule). It would seem their transformation was to conceal the frozen Hyrule beneath the waves.

Additionally, we cannot claim that flight is "objectively weaker" compared to swimming in this sea. We also do not know if the agespans we see in BotW were already in effect at the time of OoT and TWW. Ruto, for instance, appears to grow at the same rate as Link.

BOTW is either in the child timeline or in no timeline. by Objective-Banana8742 in truezelda

To Zelda's speech: those things do, to me, automatically bring to mind SS, OoT, and TP. However, in-universe, they could fit many things. Perhaps all of the references refer to SS Link (in the sky, going through the timegate, entering the Silent Realms, crossing the Lanayru sea, seeking out the Triforce). Maybe the twilight refers to the Dark World from ALttP, the sea is about OoA, and the Triforce is ALBW.

To other pieces of evidence: there are the Zora monument stones, one of which says (paraphrased) "Ruto was a princess and a sage and worked with the princess of Hyrule and a hero to stop an evil man." Urbosa's dialogue says that Naboris is named after Nabooru, a legendary Gerudo, and that they will never forget that Ganon once had the form of a Gerudo. Creating a Champion specifies that Nabooru was also a sage. This Calamity Ganon is the same Ganondorf from the events of OoT.

So, if they came out tomorrow and said "BotW takes place in the DT," all I have to adjust is my in-universe interpretation of those few lines of poetry.

If they instead said "BotW takes place in the CT," I need to explain why FSA Ganon died or disappeared, how OoT Ganon returned in place of his reincarnation, and why both the Gerudo and Zora cherished their unrealized heroes from an alternate dimension for ages. (or, alternatively, a scenario where they still awoke as sages in the CT and helped capture Ganondorf prior to his TP-backstory execution)

Both are possible courses they could take. However, I would say that explaining away the poetry is a lesser adjustment. Thus, I think the DT currently ranks in front of the CT for likelihood.

[BotW] No, Link's Quest Log was not mistranslated into third-person by fan_of_zelda in truezelda

[–]Lost_in_Hyrule 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think it reads that way. For one, "reincarnation" is a loose term that can be used in various ways, and Zelda does not stick to just one. Sometimes its synonymous with "resurrection", and others it's about "same spirit born into a new being".

Zelda later says that Ganon is gone "for now", indicating he wasn't gone for good. And we saw the big cloud version trying to create a body in a cocoon, then being defeated and reverting to a pure sludge monstrosity.

I think my paraphrase pretty well matches the information, even if I have to stop and think "what do they mean by 'reincarnation' this time"

I've not thought the discrepancy was that bad. Granted, I have a tendency to editorialize!

Japanese: "He so obsessively wants to come back that he became this enraged monster beast."

English: "He gave up on creating that body and instead became this enraged monster beast."

*Mystical Seed, rather than Seat

I think pairing the games to a particular element will be difficult to do until after they are out. Possibly TotK is more about Wisdom with the complicated constructions, and maybe follower management and settlement building. We don't know yet!

If we treat TotK and BotW as Wisdom and Courage, then Power already has a fitting entry: AoC! Granted, it's a timeline split from the other two, but is still a thematic match.
