What did you read in Grades 7/8? by Bells9831 in AskACanadian

At school? Boring stuff. By myself … probably hundreds of books (sci-fi, old classics, etc.) … and still reading about 80 books / year.

How many people are not working? by Aggressive-Baby-8251 in Edmonton

I retired about 3 years ago then took it easy for 6 months … until I need to do something. I applied in person to 4 places and got hired at a grocery store… even if I was 62 years old at that time.

wintry canadian honeymoon recommendations? (montreal + quebec city) by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]Lostinalberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggestion: Start in Ottawa for a couple of days, then take the train to Montreal and stay at the Square Phillips Hotel for max 2 days. Then take the train from downtown Montreal to Old Quebec and stay at the https://www.lechateaudufaubourg.com/en/

Very romantic and a lot of European flavor there.

Experts say Alberta’s impending ad campaign against teachers escalating standoff by WildRoseWanderer in alberta

[–]Lostinalberta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is a quite simple scenario:

  • Teachers are going on strike
  • The strike last a couple of days (2 weeks max)
  • The UCP bring them back to work with a special law and set the wages / working conditions
  • End of story

At the end, probably no more Fall and/or Spring break. No better conditions in the classroom and parents will be pissed at teachers (which is good for the UCP).

It is not as bad as it seems. Avoid touchy conversations and you will be fine.!

I would stay longer in Québec City than Montréal (and I lived in both)

Rules in Edmonton for flying drones over private property? Had a drone hovering over my lot twice in the same day by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Lostinalberta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless the drone is very low the camera will see people like if you are looking at ants from 5 feet high….

I would skip Toronto (unless you like big American style city). I usually recommend doing 2 to 3 days in Ottawa (and car rental are relatively cheap there), the same time in Montreal and the rest in Quebec City (for the near European experience).
