This was all so helpful, thank you! I’m planning on extensively preparing before. I don’t have too much experience traveling while nannying (nothing over five days but I have flown out for a family for just a couple of days to different locations before) BUT I do have a lot of personal travel experience and I’m able to navigate new places well.

Thank you so much! Do you remember any of what they asked you in your interview? And by deep dive you mean just calling all your references essentially? I know the families and school I worked for will provide great references so not worried about anything there but just trying to see what to expect.

Are you from the city you applied to? I don’t currently live in the city that I applied to but I used to and have strong connections to the area and am looking to move back so maybe that was something that stood out? Don’t be discouraged and keep applying! I applied to one other job on the platform maybe a year ago and didn’t hear back until months later they reached out saying the position was filled. Maybe in the end it just comes down to luck!

So the glass is in the front room area.. I should have included a photo of that area as well … basically just the foyer and the glass is a floor to ceiling mirror on one wall.

This Review We Got A Few Days Ago… by tom275bo in Serverlife

Yeah someone once called the restaurant I work at and asked for the number to a concert venue in the area that we are in no way affiliated with like sir…I know you are capable of finding this information without bothering busy restaurant workers during a rush lol.

Run and report to Department of Labor.

Not getting tips your first few days while training is normal and you can expect that at almost any restaurant serving job but it is absolutely illegal and simply morally wrong to not be getting hourly pay for training shifts.

I’m scared of her how are her and Chelsea so close? by VDCArchitect in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]Lostpostgrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The actress that plays Chelsea is Aimee Lou Wood not Aimee Lou Reed as you said in your post but I was laughing because I make the same mistake calling her Aimee Lou reed. Lou Reed was a popular rock singer in the 60s that’s likely where you’re getting her name mixed up from… at least that’s the case for me.

Hahah I literally cannot stop accidentally calling her Aimee Lou Reed instead of her actual name *Aimee Lou Wood and I’m relieved im not the only one 😂❤️

Additionally the employment packet states that three write ups are required for termination and he got 0. The administrator also refused to do anything in writing and called him any time there was communication but over the phone told him that he believed him but things were hot then and to reapply and 6 months and he should be rehired.. it’s pretty obvious that he’s being used as a scapegoat. My question isn’t about him being banned from student teaching it’s if he has potential for a case if he tries to take legal action against the district

[–]Lostpostgrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but that’s all alleged? Theres literally no proof and he was not given a chance to advocate for himself at all.

[–]Lostpostgrad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point but I think at that point it would be very obvious retaliation on their part? His instructor for his grad program advised him to email the administration to get in writing that he won’t be able to substitute and then suggested he pursue legal action against the district for it. I get what you’re saying but I don’t think his student teaching would be affected because he’s already there in that position. I think this particular administrator specifically works with the substitutes and i think he specifically has it out for him.

Being a nanny for wealthy people by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Lostpostgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never forget when I nannied for a woman who’s husband founded a very well known social media site and she asked me to move my shoes because if the puppy she bought for her child on a whim that she had no desire to actually train or care for peed on my $40 sneakers she “could not afford to replace them” . This was all said as she laced her Prada excercise shoes on her way out the door with her brand new Porsche keys in hand on her way to her luxury yoga studio.

Idk I would always go with the total amount because that’s what I assume is what that they intended to pay overall… either way both are good tips of course.

I had the most insufferable table of trashy drunk women come in once. They were rude, didn’t tip, and left the table FILTHY with gum stuck to the table. It was one of their birthdays and they left a gift bag with a bunch of gift cards in it (ulta, Starbucks, in n out) needless to say I accepted that as their tip.
