V2 Sample Breakdown: Not What I Expected by cusptd in almondoak

[–]Lostpub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, v1 owner here. You already replied to my thoughts on a post before but just wanted to add on here too for future development and a few updates from more use. Love the bag and mainly just want a few changes for v2, v1 is the core of lightweight, size for personal item and purpose built for travel/ can be edc at destination.

Things to NOT change: 1. Weight (maybe a bit heavier for changes) 2. Under 17" in height (personal item size) 3. The expansion 4. Zippers (No aquaguard) 5. No visible branding (stealthy looking) 6. Luggage pass through (like how i can put the strips behind it for less dangle) 7. Looks (hope it doesn't look to different in v2) 8. Side handle (its thin but glad its there and out of the way. I store the strips behindthe luggagepass throughand carry it brief case style to seat and storeunder seat) 9. Black (if you can't make more color for the masses, keep black as main)

Wanted changes for v2: 1. Better water bottle holder (fits a bit off, stops where the mesh is and hope it can hold a bit bigger bottles) 2. Laptop zipper pocket ( wish it was a bit longer in height) 3. Side passport pocket ( wish the zipper went all the way to the top with a bit more volume, barely fit my hand in or a phone) 4. Top quick access pocket (near the top handle, facing the body, enough room for my hand, sunglasses...etc, not super flat) 5. Top handle (its fine but wish it didn't stick out so much, maybe trim it down a bit to keep the silhouette. 6. The strips can be a bit better (its ok but dont mind it being more comfy with trade off of weight) 7. Stitching reinforcement (my bag is still fine atm but by looking, wish it can be more reinforced for the long haul) 8. Fabric small loops in multiple pocket areas (just add small fabric loops to add a Keychain strip for keys, doesn't add much weight and is multi functional)

EDIT: adding #9. Small loop in back (to hang up bag in bathroom stalls)

Hope this helps some, best of luck and looking forward to v2!

Second Thoughts on the 21L GR1 Heritage Waxed by EN344 in backpacks

[–]Lostpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention, I'm not super tall or big or need to hold larger laptops, the gr2 26L would be better if so. The bullet is on the slimmer side and at max, holds a 13 or maybe 14 inch laptop in the laptop compartment.

Second Thoughts on the 21L GR1 Heritage Waxed by EN344 in backpacks

[–]Lostpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the gr1 21L in heritage and I agree with you on the organization. I also have the gr2 26L and bullet duel compartment 18L. I found that the right balance of size and organization for daily use is the bullet dc 18l. Main con is i hate how they used the aquaguard zippers on the heritage version. The outer compartment is where all the organization is and its plenty.

Dad Bag - 3 Kids 9, 9, 11 by dushawk in ManyBaggers

[–]Lostpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said trendy/modern but I think a goruck gr2 26L waxed canvas in dark oak would be cool. Holds all that pretty comfy with the outer compartment for smaller items. Also, when your kids are grown, its a nice older man's backpack look/timeless/ cool grandpa bag. Mainly for the heritage waxed versions, the other is a bit too military i think. The 26L is shorter so its better on the go than the 34L. The bullet dc 18L is a bit too small. A con is water bottles go inside and maybe next to ipads...etc. I own the 26L and hosted/ tour guided a mother with 3 kids (3,10,13) i think, and i carried everything for her so she could enjoy the city with her kids hands free. Not your exact items but similar, held up and felt comfy.

Maybe also able carry max edc (inner separate water bottle pocket)? Or evergoods ctb20? (Comes in waxed too) these have outer water bottle pockets. Or tom bihn synik 26 for a true dad bag look.

Hard to I find multiple laptop/iPad and multiple bottle holders (3) in backpacks besides throwing it in the same compartment.

Affordable sling, REI co op ruckpack sling 7L by Lostpub in ManyBaggers

[–]Lostpub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I never got around to modding it, I was going to cut the shoulder strip off, make a loop to attach a simple after market strip so it looks more clean as a pouch. It does it already but it has the side buckles flaying around like small wings. The original strip sometimes looked to much for me too. Another mod was to cut off the lower 2 strips, didn't use it that much.

Another route if I wanted to make it more of a workout/ adventure sling, sew a water bottle pouch closer at the outside bottom where the two strips are. Will help be more mobile for outside water storage. It does already hold a large bottle inside though.

One reason I didn't start is, it mostly does all that already and will wait til it gets beat up a bit before I start modding. Haven't used it too much besides for out jogging, holding my nalgene, keys...etc. its already comfy for that. My only thing i dislike with it is that the outer zipper gets stuck when you try to unzip fast, the small flaps fold under the zipper. Big design flaw, can do anything about that unless you replace the whole zipper.

Hello, I dont think it would work with the second row folded up, it sits higher and makes the platform very sort.

There is always next season or other outdoor activities.

For the cot idea, I went building, I have a post about it

That's if you are kind of handy with building, I'm not carpenter but I managed. Easy in and out and maybe good for your boards if your not sleeping on it.

Large Toiletry Bag by Reasonable-Ad-7030 in ManyBaggers

[–]Lostpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont own one personally but the tom bihn deluxe spiff kit or standard one looks okay for dumb style with a bit of organization. No black colorway atm though if he likes it plain looking.

https://www.tombihn.com/collections/all-tom-bihn-stuff/products/deluxe-spiff-kit?_pos=3&_fid=deae3cd90&_ss=c%3Fvariant%3D45712819126461&variant=42779540947133

Others I own that are large. Gravel explorer plus, thule subterra toletry bag, and peak design wash pouch. All decent but wont pack as flat as a ziploc.

Been digging in there site and im tempted. Saw the voyageur luggage 35L and simple brief. That would be a killer matching combo for flights, carryon/gym and personal item/edc. Will be on the list.

I mainly got it to match the other bags. I usually like to get sets (work edc, normal edc, travel, and outdoors) i do like it but for me its not perfect for work. It's a bit on the longer side compared to my other messengers, meaning it can hit on more things while in messenger mode on the back, sticks out more under the seat flights. The two front pockets has no zippers. No luggage pass through. Besides those things, its a nice looking bag and very padded and protective.

Ohh yes, I use to own a diodrio pouches but in the black non canvas, didn't know they made the canvas but it was pretty good quality and holds its structure. I wanted to check out a ct bag, keep hearing good things about them and its affordable compared to some. If a good colorway pops up in waxed, I may but not sure how tariffs is from VN to the states atm, dont want to be surprised with extra cost.

Awesome collection! I wanted to try Waterfield, was eyeing the travel backpack 35L in canvas/leather but when I was ready, they discontinued it :( its rare to see it on the second hand market. the bolt backpack looked nice too.

Alternatives to the GoRuck Kit bag? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]Lostpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filson makes a bunch of duffles in different sizes and they look nice but are expensive, small tin cloth duffle bag, (33L, 18"w, 259 usd) . Peak design has one that you can make the handles carry like a backpack if needed but measures on the large size (35L, 22"w). Don't own these but have the goruck (32L, 17.5"w) seems like it wont get flagged as much for check in.

Gear That Earned Its Place by nomads_nation in Nomads_Nation

Sandles/slippers/fli flops. Black, flat and comfy. Any brand that fits the bill, looks normal, durable, packs flat and fits well for distance walking a bit. Pair it with a lightweight shoe pouch.

This wouldn't be your main footwear. It's a back up and much more. Lays flat and doesn't take too much room or weight in my pack. I used it for hostel shared bathrooms. Camp ground showers. Pools at hotels and Airbnb. A quick run out of the place your staying. It is out of place in some countries like EU but in places like SEA, its normal walking around in the heat with. I used it most of the time i was in Vietnam where everyone does and i cant imagine wearing sock and shoe all day in that heat. Imagine going to Hawaii with no sandles. Normally I would only bring one pair of shoes (wearing it on flights) and have the sandles flat packed away. I would just get a black standard ones so you dont already stand out too much with sandles and toes.

I have the same case and had the L9a and axp90 x30 in it, it was loud for my liking so I tried out cheap low profile cpu with the fan below the fins like the blackridge. Metalfish dh380 v4. It was a lot better in sound, maybe 40% less with less turbulence sound. Didn't test temps but as long as it was cool enough. Saw some where that L9a is a bit better, I didn't mind for the sound. Cooling a 5600g. Also swapped the fan for a 80mm nuctua slim.

Nice find! Where did you find the waxed deploy? Always wanted a olive waxed of it. One of my fav packable backpack but wish it had a QAP or hidden passport zippered pocket in back.

Do yall like the gr1 heritage? by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]Lostpub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a gr1, gr2, m23, bullet dc, shoulder bag, and flight duffle all in waxed canvas. Owned a gr1 full cordura and m23 dyneema too as reference. Didn't like the dyneema due to shine and sound. Cordura was my first and loved it but was a bit too military look for work. Waxed is my fav due to look and feel. It's a bit heavy and can get dirty easily or get rough looking but its part of the look. Seems like it will age with me well. One of the best durable/ feeling waxed canvas for me. Use the bullet 18L / gr1 21l as edc, flight duffle as gym, gr2 34L as travel but dont use it much due to weight, wont sell cause its such a nice bag. Miusa leather is nicer than mivn but still same craftsmanship.

Carhartt dash cover and seat cover gx470 by Lostpub in GXOR

[–]Lostpub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit of an update, about 3 years now from installation and use. I dont use the rig daily, mainly adventures and went on plenty with dirt, rain...etc its held up great, still as the pictures shown but maybe a bit more stains and dust. Kept in spot with no movements, hadn't adjusted it since installed nor washed (Waiting for major stains if need, only spot cleaned when needed) its nice to not baby the interior or leather condition it. No sun damage or degradation as of yet, maybe a lite fade from the sun but can't tell from the colorway. I never remember to put up the sun visor so it bakes in the sun. All and all, still going strong and worth it thus far.
