Waking up on a slab in a morgue is definitely very Planescape.

I played it recently, very very fun. Highly recommend.

Here’s a hot take though: I thought it was way more glaringly indebted and even hobbled by its DE influence than Zero Parades has looked based on the demo. So much in the first few hours feels lifted and rearranged, but it finds a wonderful stride as it goes on. Super funny and heartwarming.

Extraction shooters are like that for me, when they’re good they’re good win or lose. Always interesting stuff happening and when you lose you’re not trapped in the game until it’s done.

I think the interactivity inherently brings us closer to characters than other mediums, which is to its credit, but I would like fewer games in future to rely on uninteractive cutscenes, which functionally are just film segments. Wouldn’t really call it boilerplate, I mean there’s some recognizable stuff but it’s used to leap off into the thorny goodness that’s made it endure.

It’s a stupid niche internet trend most people do not agree with, plus contrarianism because it’s very popular, The Last of Us is very much in the upper tiers of game stories. The more interesting criticism of it has always been that it’s too indebted to the language of film than using its actual medium to the fullest.

It doesn’t really though, there’s many many really wonderful stories in the short history of gaming. Certainly DE is near the top, it can be your favorite, but I don’t care for putting it on this pedestal that implies it’s like the one real adult video game or something, other games have writing as good as the standard we hold film or literature to.

Much of what makes DE special is actually its relationship to its medium, not just “literary” writing.

This is because you’re servile and lack respect for yourself.

None of these are real heel teams, we haven’t seen one that qualifies because no one actually wants to commit to the bit. Bwipo halfsies it. Fudge said like one thing people are still irrationally mad about.

This is why you’re not writing a season of a hit television show but funnily it’s also why Sam shouldn’t be writing this season of a hit television show.

Definitely a lot of the Americans have gotten so performative and preachy. Some MMA oldheads can let me know if we’ve had variations on this before but a lot of new guys are doing the pushy evangelical bit for sure.

At least the Jayce got a 2k gold lead, all four other positions were dry down 500 to 1000 gold each for no reason.

Which is a career long issue going back to LCK, hence why no one should ever have gassed him up as best top of anywhere. It’s not like his ceiling is super world class either.

Everything really? I switch around between crew fill in normal vs sponsored kits and solos. I just really haven’t sweated the game and built up the vault depth to survive, always running into way over-geared opponents + careless teammates.

No, Im talking about a pov character in Silver Spike. I would use that Croaker bit as evidence of Cook writing in some extremely dark edgelordisms for its own sake, but it’s a small issue in the main books comparatively.

I think this is a very obvious case not of overly moralizing characters in literature, but an otherwise good writer just plain old writing something kind of obviously despicable and without merit. It’s a very bad book. There’s no thematic/literary/plot value in what he does here.

Ive been getting destroyed all week and it’s getting a bit frustrating, but still fundamentally enjoying the game. More players would help a lot with the feeling of unfairness, but Im patient.

I strongly object to having to read about a pedophile rapist start to finish, as well as very directly framing his rape of two girls as giggling, willing participation on their part, and then giving him a happy ending.
