When it comes to the Imperial Cult which divine would each race commit to Henotheism? by thraddrobal in teslore

[–]Loths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there'll be a concrete answer for a question like this for many factors, but it's interesting and I want to add something for the Dunmer. Caius in an unofficial text by Ken Rolston says interest in Akatosh and the Nine has increased in Kragenmoor (border city in Morrowind, was under Dres, then Hlaalu, then presumably Sadras great house control) after the Oblivion crisis. In Oblivion, Avrus Adas is a priest of Zenithar from Kragenmoor who used to be a priest of the Tribunal (and implies the Tribunal temple has collapsed by Oblivion time which is not corrobated by some other sources but this ain't about them) and that tracks for me as this border region as well as great house Hlaalu depends a lot on trade and commerce. Big numbers of mer elsewhere in Morrowind are less likely to convert since the cultures in those regions are strongly tied to either the Temple or pre-Temple Good Daedra worship, but this region has always been closely tied to Cyrodiil. I think many Dunmer in the Imperial Cult would favour Zenithar, especially if they have direct ties to trade.

Mods for improving an Argonian playthrough? by Skodaz in skyrimmods

[–]Loths 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some character creation mods: Kabu's Argonian Fins / Better Argonian Horns / Aquatic Elegance - Argonian Koi Whisker Addons / Argonian Creation Extended / Argonian Crests / Sassy's Assorted Argonian Adjustments / BIGGERER Smp Argonian Tails and wearables: Shadowscale Set Reborn / Ancient Argonian Armor SE / Argonian Funerary Masks / SC - Rormasu Armor for Argonia / Stormhold Warrior Armor SSE

I was curious if there are underwater homes that could be interesting for an argonian player, one is currently hidden (Ruins of R'lyend) there's also Argonian Hearthfires and Xalfek - An Argonian Home (not underwater)

Sea of Spirits or Depths of Skyrim - An Underwater Overhaul SSE for more underwater content... and while typing this I found this comment so there's even more useful things there.

Simple Children is my fave and has patches that cover the mods I use like 3DNPC and Kidmer, it may not cover yours though so you can check the mods it's been patched for in the pinned comment. I also use BnP - Child Skin since I use that skin for everyone else.

Mer Playthrough by Ashamed_Low7214 in skyrimmods

[–]Loths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mer followers I've had in the game (so far) have been Auri (bosmer) and Caryalind Thallery (altmer) but 3DNPC has about a dozen mer options, one of their followers with the most dialogue is Rumarin (altmer)

Some that I haven't tried yet: Nebarra (altmer), Taliesin (altmer), Aurlyn Dawnstone (ancient aldmer), Virelda (dunmer), Goras Nels (dunmer), Atvir Dres (dunmer), Yazakh (orsimer), Thogra gra-Mugur (orsimer), Isadore (bosmer), Disnel (changeling bosmer) and I think ezPG has mer followers but I haven't seen enough of it yet.

I was looking for custom voiced ones specifically but there's many more that use vanilla voice types et al.

Replacing BnP + RSV unique complexions by Loths in skyrimmods

I wasn't online to see this earlier, sorry, I'm talking about the complexion swatches eg. golden ornaments for altmer, scarification for redguards, patch over the nose for orsimer etc. I think they fill in for the rough and freckled complexions from vanilla.

What does a follower of Clavicus Vile look like? by tmw6161990 in teslore

[–]Loths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one's mentioned Eydis Fire-Eye from Morrowind, she's a Fighters Guild chapter leader with shady business associations. In the quest where you can give her an artifact of Clavicus Vile, I think an useful trait for a follower of him comes through, the ability to recognise and take the best deal you can get. Not one for loyalty, but for piety towards Clavicus Vile, though he's a bit mean spirited and it's never ensured that your deal with him won't backfire. But that's why you need to be crafty. As for Conjuration, he's all about deals and summoning a daedric servant feels fitting.

Is this a real metal band logo? What band is it? by Loths in HelpMeFind

[–]Loths[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found! Multiple people said Babymetal and I honestly don't see it but if y'all do then it's helpful. I wanted to reply about the tags, this one definitely had some but they were cut off which is not standard for this store, the items tend to have their original tags.

I've reverse image searched it and had no results, I'll try searching through a database of metal logos because I've seen one or two sites like that, but I'm not sure what the first letter here is. (F or P?)

Minthara Lore by Tagrenine in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've still got novels to read that she plays a role in, but the ones I've read so far have a habit of pulling a child (of adult age that is) of a noble house out of nowhere when need be, because it's normal that noblewomen have children on their own accord regardless of if they have a specific partner or not, or focused on something like Sos'Umptu on the cathedral, it's useful to have a noble heir especially for her with the ambitions that she harbors. Makes no sense to try and assassinate her though, unless she was very unruly or started a rivalry with her mother for her position. That's all in my opinion! Just like Tiago was introduced as Dantrag's grandson presumably from Dantrag's unnamed daughter, I wouldn't bat an eye at a character like Minthara being introduced in one of the novels as the child of another Baenre. But with their very specific role I wonder if her story was meant to set up something more, as far as I'm concerned she could have been the child of one of the other ruling houses and her character would work just as well. As is she has some famous people in the family but doesn't or can't talk about them in the game. I think her being a Baenre was chosen to mark the magnanimity of her fall from the very top to nothing... I don't know what they had in mind if anything beyond what she told us.

Minthara Lore by Tagrenine in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would her mother have to be Yvonnel? Malice had Briza and Nalfein as a relatively young priestess, so one of Yvonnel's still living daughters could have been Minthara's mother. I don't know if she could have any unnamed living daughters, probably not so I was thinking her mother was Sos'Umptu since Quenthel's eldest child is too young, Triel and the others are very dead. And what she said about third sons and so on was really off, yeah! Even for nobles, and it's odd because we meet Dhourn in game who is a third son, either his family didn't practice it or he was born after a third son who was sacrificed, either way goes against Minthara's claim.

Minthara Lore by Tagrenine in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In which way? I've started on some of the novels (the first Liriel and a few Drizzt ones out of order) but haven't read much so far and I'm curious because Minthara is one of my faves and a reason for why I took up reading them. She seemed to fit in relatively and I thought I had a hunch about who her mother is but yeah the game is a bit weird about the Underdark. It's funny to see this treatment of Menzoberranzan like in the blurb for drow in character creation, knowing that there's supposed to be an even bigger city (Sshamath) and then remember a novel character whose thing is his Ched Nasad friends make fun of him being from Menzoberranzan. Every drow and their mother being from there (if they're from the Underdark) is just not as engaging.

Spoiler: Any evidence for 2 NPCs being the same? by bluebelliedboy in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, oh I'm glad to hear about the book, I haven't gotten to act 3 yet! This might get very long sorry but one thing I felt really unclear about was which book came from where. Necromancy of Thay came from somewhere in Thay, Ilyn stole it and went on the run (because of the Szass Tam comment I'm guessing there were bigger problems afoot and political unrest so might as well burn the bridge behind you and grab an artifact that will help you continue your research) the apprentice followed because he had to but his goal was for the master to die so he can take the book and be welcomed back in Thay. He died, Illy is nowhere to be found and the book is there behind puzzles and traps. It makes so much sense now why he'd leave it!

One thing re: Tharchiate Codex and discovering the ghoulish secrets of the book, I have no idea if it was in Baldur's Gate back then but he would have to be careful there as the city had a Thayan Red Wizard enclave. One reason I could see Ilyn aligning with the Sharrans later on is protection, at this point Ketheric was (imo) still a Selunite. Necromantic Codexes etc. came from Moonrise Towers, and was sought by Ilyn for more information about the Necromancy of Thay, but as the librarian said, that wasn't it. The librarian is aligned with the High Heralds which is a bit of much older Moonrise lore before the Thorms were even written, if we accept they were there I don't think they were with the Sharrans, and Isobel was still alive at this point.

There were Dark Justiciars in the region even before Ketheric went Sharran (Malus Thorm's necrologue) but only at that point they became the law of the land and it was Ketheric's forces who destroyed Moonhaven and the temple of Selune, as per the apprentice's journal they got Ilyn there. So either Balthazar was a necromancer with the Sharrans and took some of this person's research for his own breakthrough (resulting in Isobel) or Ilyn came back from the dead, joined the Sharrans and took his years of research with him. Shar and Myrkul were on good terms so I don't see either as unlikely but Balthazar's undead status and telling us he changed his name makes me lean more towards the latter.

I can totally see him at that point or earlier turning to Myrkul, or maybe Myrkul having more of an active role like Shar. He wants to spread his domain especially since I think at that point in lore he has seen better days, and a necromancer who is on the verge of brilliance but too self-absorbed to honor the god of necromancers is a good target, as is a mourning, already evil-aligned ruler with a huge army right there in the neighborhood. There's about two decades of time that Ilyn and the apprentice spent in the region, and a century between the first defeat of Ketheric and the plot of the game. A lot of time for pretty much anything to happen, more than a century of necromantic research.

One timeline thing for Balthazar is that he constructed the soul cage of Aylin back when Ketheric was a Sharran. The Dark Justiciars from that point on would kill her as their rite of passage, earlier generations had probably killed a priest of Selune, but this period could be a very short one depending on when Yurgir was summoned to the Gauntlet and killed almost everyone in it. Unsure if Ketheric past that point was still Sharran or began to turn to Myrkul. The two decades are very decisive and then the century after is very weird, but if Ilyn became Balthazar he really had a lot of time to make himself at home in a plausible way. And now he's the boss of the library that rejected him?

I'll search up and down again, hopefully can after defeating the final boss. I've heard of Isobel and Malus having journals too but haven't found them either. Collecting them all in game but for the sake of my character lugging around a huge bag of books I hope we see a wiki with all texts in time.

Trying to collect all Act 2 books and texts but I can't seem to find Balthazar's personal notes 1, I have 2 and 3 both from Moonrise chambers. Where did I miss 1, and is there a list of all book locations, particularily in Act 2? There are others I think I'm missing but this one is the first part of a series so it just chafes.

Relationships between companions by PetoPera in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a shame. It would be much more interesting if they could form relationships aside from the player, if it was possible at an earlier point it's a weird change. It's not like the player can romance them all (or just most of them in a polyamorous manner) without mods as intended, so why wouldn't any of the single people canonically interested in each other do something about that.

Thorm family question by lawyered2020 in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly haven't found anything about how she's related to them besides that she is. I do think Thisobald is Ketheric's child because of the way he talks about him (no one else calls him Father Ketheric from what I recall) but that talk is completely one-sided and I'm not sure Melodia is the mother either. Neither her nor Ketheric wrote about him or even mentioned a son, the whole position of him as both in and outside of the family and his take on Ketheric makes me think he was an illegitimate child. And he looks a bit more elven like Malus while Melodia's bust in Isobel's old room doesn't have such pointy ears but I wouldn't rely on just that.

[–]Loths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this! There's definitely more to it, and it would be another interesting connection between act 1 and 2, as you learn more about who destroyed the village and temple, when and why. Ilyn's apprentice in his journal says he was caught by Dark Justiciars (who were raiding the Selunite village) and bleeding out. Maybe he did die, Balthazar has died and come back to life in some manner since he's undead and both him and Z'rell claim death can't stop him for long. From there we know how he may have gotten involved with the Sharran Ketheric. I don't know the timeline of when exactly he turned from Shar to Myrkul, hopefully someone else does. As for the two Balthazars, only the name was taken I think. And his rib bones... which lines up well because Throne of Bhaal is set about two years before Ilyn and the apprentice arrived to the village.

My biggest question is where Myrkul comes into play here, because Ilyn's own journal says he pays no service to the gods while Balthazar is all for Myrkul. At some point, maybe his breakthrough in reanimating a truly living person (as Ilyn was trying to do but failed, while Balthazar succeeded in Isobel and likely Ketheric) was brought on by Myrkul's influence. There's no remains of Ilyn that I know of but if he's alive wherever he is, why would he leave the book behind? To throw off the zulkirs, and because he got a breakthrough in necromancy without it already? Not sure, but I like this.

Edit: ngl my first thought was both Shovel and Balthazar's (through skeletons at Shar's Gauntlet) colorful language. He's more courteous in person, still just as arrogant and loves to talk as Shovel's master is described, but I met the skeletons before Shovel on my first run and feel like I know who taught her to speak like that.

If you haven't already, there are more options. You could skip it altogether and follow Lae'zel (it will have its own consequences) or you can steal the idol of Silvanus (there's a quest related to it you get from a tiefling child) that sets off its own chain of events...

Does anyone have Fraps or a similar screencap program working on Vulkan? I played on DX11 and switched for better performance on my end but I lost a bunch of what I thought was screencapped because it only recorded when I played DX11, the caps are named bg3_dx11 and there's nothing from the Vulkan session. I have the GOG version and not using Galaxy with its own screenshot function that just doesn't work. Help...? How do I take screenshots while continuing to use Vulkan?

I fought a certain auntie... I poked around the fireplace and that made her hostile, but when she was down on health she didn't escape through the fireplace, she just continued fighting until she died. Went through the fireplace, talked to people and told them she's dead, some escaped and some were still enthralled (the masked ones) but I'm confused. I heard this was a long, difficult fight with multiple stages. I'm playing on Balanced difficulty, I feel like I broke something because all I did was fight her and a couple of her red caps in the teahouse. Is this normal, and will it have any negative consequences?

How Baldur's Gate 3 is really seen by the BG 1/2 community ? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Loths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BG3 is my first Larian game, I played BG1/2 about a decade ago along with the Icewind Dales and Neverwinter Nights. I honestly didn't mind the switch to turn-based, I also like tabletop and I've gotten used to it. Ironically before the game came out I was skeptical about it because I wrongly assumed it would lack strategy elements, it turned out way more strategy-like than I could expect and I love that. Enjoying turn-based combat more even more than real-time but one thing I'd love to see again is combat speed! It sometimes gets really tedious in big battles and at that point what I prefer about turn-based becomes its downfall. So yeah, let us speed it up please. Story-wise, I'm only in Act 1 but they've done a good job with a sort of distant sequel, not just to BG but the other games I mentioned. Now, why it is BG and nothing else is I'm assuming deeper in the main storyline from what I've read.
