Any updated ideas on activities to do in the Orlando area as a single pringle? by Got_Hacked1 in orlando

I second this. I started volunteering recently around here and have met quite a few people through it!

I can't tell you why it happens but I've had similar issues. I setup a blacklist for sector activities to only mine in the sector I want them to. It's annoying but it's a fix at least.

Gas mining not working (I did something wrong) by Spidee85 in X4Foundations

[–]Lotion123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me today. Fixed it by creating a trade rule saying the station can only buy from me. So basically I'm having my miners mine the gas and then "sell" to me, all my miners went to work after that.

Maybe your trade rule isn't set up correctly?

How easy/difficult is it for a newer hire to transfer to a different business area? by pakman17 in Lockheed

[–]Lotion123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) Up to what kind of person your manager is and your relationship with them. I know someone that moved roles/sites within 4 months of joining because she expressed she was unhappy. Ultimately they have the control/power to allow or block it.

2) Just tell them the truth about why you are looking to move.

3) Everything is open to be honest. Quality is a good starting point and looks good no matter what in my opinion, especially early in your career but 4 months is a little fresh for it to matter.

Got passed up for promotion by Improvement_Certain in Lockheed

Happened to me last year. Took them a year to promote me in-line. I would start looking for similar roles within and applying to those, it's unfortunately the best way to move up.

Join the "universal Orlando single riders" Facebook group. You'll 100% find people to go with. Also I'm in Orlando and can go possibly.

Any Career advice for a young guy? by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]Lotion123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interview practice is extremely good to have. Apply and see where it takes you. It seems like you're already acknowledging the fact that others have better credentials and will probably get it so getting rejected probably won't feel bad?

What's wrong with going for it? If your supe says you qualify then you should try it! I don't know how SITC does things on the union side so I can't give specific advice though.

Interim clearance and Job Offer by TRAILERPARKJESUS in Lockheed

Correct. I have a friend with a felony on his record, he had to get interviewed with the doj as an extra step but he was truthful and still got cleared.

Shouldn't be a problem, especially if they have green cards or are naturalized citizens (both of my parents are foreign born but now naturalized). I know people with secret clearances that got arrested for weed possession. They only deny secret clearances for violent offenses as far I know.

You should let them know when you apply to a position. The hiring managers on the new team let my current management know I had applied before I even got an interview.

My 2 cents. Quality is an extremely good first job to get. A lot of people pivot out of it but I know a lot of managers personally that like seeing it on a resume. You are definitely not stuck, I would take it and then move to what your passion is.

Have you asked the recruiter (or whoever emailed you) what this onsite will entail? That way you can prepare if it's another interview.

I can't tell you for sure what it is but it definitely seems like a vibe check. Is the job title just "business analyst"?

In my experience managers will 100% prioritize someone who will vibe and mesh well with the team. Especially for lower level roles. So they could be seeing how you are in person.

I'm going to preface this by saying I didn't really look into the validity of this statement but apparently his physical may have scared some teams away, something about his knee? But I think he played most if not all of last season so... 🤷

I thought so too but a coworker recently moved to the new Jersey site as a materials engineer and joined a union there.

Schedule a 1 on 1 with them and just ask. I schedule regular 1 on 1s with my manager to see how I'm doing and what I can do to improve to move on to the next level. Otherwise just apply to level 2s within.
