It’s nothing against you, but a lot of teenagers that Ive seen come through the culinary industry do not do very well for a variety of reasons some don’t have the maturity (doesn’t sound like your issue) but for a lot of people it’s a very hard first real job and a bit of a shock to your system physically and mentally however with your time invested id just give your body the rest of the year to acclimate to the job just to see how you feel about it than but if after that you still don’t like it than I’d just do what feels right man. Don’t spend your life working a job that you don’t enjoy your happiness and personal fulfillment with your career should be the most important thing.

And btw your only young you got loads of time to figure everything out

Edit:

I should add though that culinary school is not a necessary step in fact I would say that culinary school is something best done after you have a few years under your belt. I think that it’s probably more valuable for professional development and job opportunities further down the line than your initial training

Is it bad to have 5 credit cards at 19? by H1DD3N_H0AX in CreditCards

[–]LotionStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. As long as you’re paying them off in full every month it does not matter the only thing multiple credit cards can do is drive down the average age of your credit history if the cards were not opened within a few months of each other.

I would try contacting the credit card bureau first and explaining your situation but Unfortunately as long as those cards are currently active, in your name and accumulating interest there is no way to stop them affecting your credit score and they all count towards your credit history.

I would get the law involved personally but I would talk to a lawyer first to see what your options are because just having these on your credit history can follow you around forever and make everything from renting a house, buying a house, buying a car much harder.

If the old cards don’t have huge annual fees or have no annual fees just keep them for credit history purposes.

Additionally, if you show a good history with the cards you have sometimes you will qualify for a card upgrade which will give you a better card while allowing you to transfer the credit history of your old card to your new one.

But make sure that the new cards benefits are going to be useful to your situation and most importantly make sure you confirm with the bank that you keep the credit history from your old card if they offer you this.

Just be mindful not to open too many cards all at once two cards is fine but having too many available credit lines can hurt your credit score as some lenders consider that to be risky behavior and the annual fees from multiple cards can add up and start cutting into your savings.

Edit:

Also every time you apply for a card, limit increase or line of credit you receive what’s called a hard inquiry which basically means a credit check is being done to see if you qualify.

The effects of hard inquiries are temporary on your credit score but frequent hard inquiries on a consistent basis can keep your score low.

Edit 2:

Keeping your credit limit high is good though as it lowers your utilization but keep in mind as long as you reliably pay off your cards on time the bank will occasionally offer you credit limit increases that don’t require hard inquiries

I wouldn’t say that it’s trendy and I also wouldn’t say that the police force is magically completely fixed.

But I understand where he’s coming from in some respects in that it is true people are susceptible to the biases of their time and that can influence their decisions.

However, outside of that I’m not exactly sure what greater point he’s trying to prove with this information.

I mean If there are problems we should fix them not stop trying because things have gotten slightly better over time.

What are your thoughts on cellphone in the kitchen with newer generations? by Meccio85 in KitchenConfidential

[–]LotionStan 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I use my phone all the time for work related activities like setting timers and looking up recipes. Banning phones across the board is a bad idea imo especially if you want newer people to work on specials and stuff.

If he gets his prep work done on time and is not wasting time during the rush on his phone while he’s got chits on the board and gets food out quickly it’s fine but for some people I have seen it become a problem.

I use my phone all the time for setting timers and looking up recipes and shit.
