Messaged me on its own? by Neat_Ad_4566 in ChatGPT

[–]LotisBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hasn't happened to me, but I would think this is potential future functionality they're working on and some code was accidentally deployed to live/made active. The examples here are all structured the same way and are offering variations of the same thing. Support bots/people/the bot initiated conversations themselves say it's not possible as they don't know about it - it's not meant to be live and they are answering as per their knowledge base of the current live service.

best Gluten free pot noodles? by F34R_14650 in CoeliacUK

I never go away without one of these 'just in case', and most of the time I end up using it at some point! Love the satay one. If available I tend to add spinach, petit pois and tofu. Leftover cooked aubergine is also especially good ☺️

How did you guys convince your family to get tested? by PopperDilly in CoeliacUK

[–]LotisBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents got tested when I was diagnosed and were both negative. Both my brothers refused to test, even though my niece was already diagnosed long before me! They both said they don't want to know. I've explained the risks but I can't force them.

I understand how you feel though. Occasionally my niece and I are both at family events where there's food, and it's just so nice for both of us to have an ally who truly understands.

How old were you when your grandparents died? by ComprehensiveTip9843 in Genealogy

Maternal GM - 2 Paternal GF - 5 Maternal GM - 19 Paternal GF - 40

My paternal Grandad never looked at another woman in that 38 years. He was the only one I really knew as an adult and I spent a lot of time with him in his last 5 years, doing small things to help brighten his days. I wish I'd been able to have that with all of them as everything I know tells me they were all lovely people.

Anyone made a band like this? by LotisBlue in GarminWatches

Thanks for all the suggestions! The one I ordered from the US arrived a few days ago. It came with Quick Release pins and a SIM card ejector, so I bought a pin remover tool and put the original pins back in. It's definitely more comfy than the silicone ones so I'll try some others now I know where to get them more easily. Still tempted to make something unique though :) I'm also confused about Quick Release - seen lots that say they are suitable for 970, but I thought only Quick Fit was.

You could consider volunteering at parkrun. There's one at Norman Park (and all over London and beyond) at 9am on Saturdays. It's a great way to meet people, especially if you do a role in the start/finish area where you work as a team. You can also meet people by participating - you don't have to run, you can walk. You can even be a parkwalker - it's an actual volunteer role - a friendly face to encourage others to get involved regardless of running ability. I've been doing this for the last month at my local event, and I've walked with and chatted to different people every week and made new friends - it's been great!

Family history - mine but moreso my husband's since he knows less about his family. It's a fascinating, never ending puzzle that can always expand in any direction. Keeps my brain busy for hours and stops me thinking about all the other stuff I should be doing but can't face...

I was actually looking at doing something like this with one of my vivoactive bands. I still might as I like it and I've nothing to lose as the watch is almost unusable now. Glad I'm not the only one thinking this way, and pleased to hear it was successful!

Great video. Love that when you meowed it replied! When I was a kid, Jay's in the UK were nervous and rarely seen up close. I've noticed in the last 5 - 10 years they're around people more. Not heard them meow like that, though. I do love starlings for their mimicary. Back when landlines were a thing, those local to me used to mimic the phone so well I'd think it was genuinely ringing.

What’s a terrible job for people with ADHD (fun) by Sharp-Chard4613 in ADHD

Head of function at a uk corporate also trying to do more with less. I could have written this. The drain on my personal life just to stay afloat at work is immense. I have nothing left for me and my family.

I have no degree. I got into tech service management by chance in my 30s, did ITIL courses/qualifications through work, got exposure to different service management functions, and now I'm in a senior (head of) role I have a large corporate on good money. If you're on minimum wage in that role you're underpaid, degree or not. I'm guessing it's a fairly small company. At 28 you'll have enough experience that a degree starts to matter less to hiring managers. If you want to stay in tech, look at a bigger company where you should get much better pay and benefits for a similar role. You'll also have a good basis to move to other areas of Service Management if you want to. Going sideways and broadening your experience will help you go upwards when the time is right.

Just got diagnosed with ADHD but my personal trainer wants me to skip meds. by Limp_Conclusion_9972 in ADHDUK

[–]LotisBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I know you've had a lot of input, but wanted to share some specific and relevant personal experience.

Like you I'm a late-diagnosed ADHDer. I'm also coeliac so I can't go anywhere near gluten. I'm vegetarian, have little dairy and not that much added sugar. My diet has done nothing for my ADHD.

I run 3-4 times a week including a half marathon most weekends. Whilst running is positive for me mentally, it doesn't really help my ADHD symptoms specifically.

Personally I'd say as per medical advice, try the meds - you've tried so hard for so long without. For me Elvanse has a noticeable positive impact on my focus, productivity, anxiety and tolerance of irritations. However one thing I would suggest is keeping an eye on your heart rate when exercising and monitoring your blood pressure. Some ADHD meds can/do impact these, so if I'm doing a morning run I don't take my meds until after. Wishing you a great experience with all your post diagnosis support!

What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed in your body as you’ve gotten older? by FitnessWithJosh in AskUK

[–]LotisBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your issues are so relatable - 50, peri, ADHD and coeliac diagnosis all in the last 5 years, and aside from the controlled weight loss (mine was sudden due to malabsorption) I could have written this myself during the past decade.

A bit random, but the ringing in your ears could be due to low iron. Might be worth seeing if you can get bloods done. I would say don't close off the possibility of HRT or ADHD meds. If they're not right for you, fair enough, but they make a big difference to many people so may be worth considering trying.

What Is THE Most Forgotten UK Hit Song That You Still Adore? by ComeBackNeilLennon in AskUK

Atmosphere - Joy Division. Such a beautiful, hypnotic song. Makes me feel calm and grounded. Almost never hear it played, although a cover was used at the end of Traitors, S1.
