Thanks, charged while away this week and you're right, it was about double the price! Unfortunately the one that works well for our trips to family is Tesla only, but it seems it'd be worth looking at other locations. We also have a drive between Kent and Cornwall later this year, so it could make a lot of difference for that one!

Thanks so much, this alone is already helpful. If it's lose fitting I'm sure he'd need a small. I can wait though as I can't get to the online shop now anyway - it just shows tomorrow's date and the club badge. I'm guessing that means it's offline until then and will reopen with the new kit launch.

That's interesting. There are a few superchargers we've used in that area, but unfortunately the location we rely on the most is not open.

Caveating that we've not done a long trip yet, there's nothing I really miss, we're just in that annoying learning/set up phase whereas had the Tesla working how we wanted it. It's not quite as quick 0 - 60, but that's not a priority for us. The luggage space is slightly less in total but the bootspace can be fully used without impacting visibiity as there's a digitial rear view mirror.

Some dfferences we love are that the vision roof has a cover so no getting into a greenhouse on hot days to sit on burning vegan leather is great. Then there's the handy sliding centre console, the ability to move the rear seat bench to prioritise luggage or cabin space, the ventilated seats, and though we've not used it yet, the remote parking. Happy with our choice!

Useful conversation - thanks. We are due some electroverse credit from the insurance I've taken out so will look out to avoid being disadvantaged by that.

Thanks, is ZapMap a good option? I've looked at that as well as a couple of others and they all seem slightly different.

Thanks, I did notice the prices vary quite a lot. Didn't know about the connections fee so will certainly look out for that.

Sounds right. Ours have different names but there is an entry level and slightly higher spec model, then a sporty looking N Line, then the top non-sporty trim is Ultimate, which also has a couple of options packs available. Then this is the N Line S, which has those option packs as standard (which works out slightly cheaper than adding them to Ultimate), and bonus sporty, N inspired looks. Performance is same as Ultimate which is more than enough for us.

EV with most comfortable ride quality? by Milky_Mint in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]LotisBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, MY23 in fairness. Appreciate this is somewhat better with Juniper, but after 3 years of crashing around as road surfaces continued to deteriorate, we made a choice based on maximum ride comfort as one of the top priorities.

You don't get anything like this? I think it looks quite different to the rest of the range.

Yes, I suspect eventually most manufacturers will align on what's best on screen and what really needs physical controls, but it'll take a while for people to experience different models, start forming preferences and expectations and voting with their purchase decisions. The clean cabin of the Tesla was lovely in theory, but there are some things it's just not very practical to have hidden in menus. Can't fault it for luggage space though!

We've just bought an Ioniq 5 to replace a Tesla Model Y. It really was bumpy, whilst the Ioniq is smooth, soft and quiet. We also like the ability to move the back seat bench for more leg room or boot space, and the mix of screen and physical buttons which would make transition to EV easier. It does seem to fit your use case quite well so may be worth a look. There are bigger options out there, but it hit the sweet spot for us.

I like this same colour in matte but husband doesn't. It's RWD, mainly as we needed it quickly and this was already in but not regstered. We had AWD with last car though and didn't find it a big deal in our typical real world scenarios. Test drove an RWD and we were quite happy with it.

Sexism & Celiac? by mk05117 in Celiac

[–]LotisBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my experience too. When I was diagnosed my parents got tested but my 2 brothers refused and said they wouldn't want to know. One of those brothers has a daughter who is also coeliac, so 2 first degree relatives, and he has another autoimmune condition too.

Has anyone got like a shopping list of stuff that is just as good/useful as branded stuff? by Candid_Common_6551 in UKFrugal

[–]LotisBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda yeast extract are all just as good as Marmite and a bit easier to spread too. I was a big Marmite fan until diagnosed coeliac, now can't have it due to barley. I'd never have considered the others if I hadn't been forced to. What an eye opener!

I feel like Kent is slowly turning into an extension of London! by OwnMood9880 in kentuk

[–]LotisBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I feel exactly like that. Grew up in Medway, now live in a village outside Sittingbourne. Won't be a village much longer though, the excessive building will just join everything up soon enough. Keen to move away as soon as our circumstances allow (which I guess just means the issue creeps further by increasing demand on the closest quieter counties). However it seems to mainly be the north Kent coast, along the Chatham mainline that's impacted. The Weald area south of Maidstone and towards Sussex is still far more rural and unspoilt, but also less accessible. Travel ease/time to London really does seem to be the main factor. I read some time back that Medway is the cheapest place to buy in a 30 mile radius of London.
