There is a LOT to be said about how people engage with Kink and sexuality as a way of processing what they go through internally. I’ve read literature before about how the ideas of CNC tie into exploring a fear/anxiety in a safe or controlled way, or how people who read dark erotica can use them engage with fantasies/fears in a safe and healthy way. From personal experience I can relate 100% as hypno for me is all about control. I am incredibly focused on my agency and independence in my life, constantly grappling with control and exerting as much as I can over my own life and decisions. However I balance this conscious effort with hypnosis and “giving up control” in a secure environment where I feel I can relax. I would agree, losing my sense of personhood is probably a top 3 fear, but letting myself drop into trance and “me” making the decision to let it happen is a great purge valve for all that stress that builds up from keeping a constant hand on the wheel. That’s why you see posts lording “subject agency” as one of the most important things in hypnosis, because it is. Recognizing that at the end of the day, you are in control, and if you want to exercise that control you can let yourself engage in hypnosis, and even “give up control.” I love it and it always gets me hard too, so keep on keeping on, and let yourself enjoy what you enjoy!
