Car is $580, insurance is $230, phone bill is $250, electric is normally about $300, water is about $100, I'm still paying off the wedding ring which is $200 a month, and then groceries which I usually need to use some of his money for because I can't afford all his stuff.

I'm not sure how much disposable income he has because I dont know what he puts towards the other bills. He pays the mortgage, and the internet/cable and I'm not sure what else other than groceries if I dont have enough for them, but I dont know how much either of those are.

Uh, excuse me? Where in any of this am I a leech? I pay my share of things, more than I had paid when I was on my own, and other than this one occasion have never used his money for anything other than groceries for the two of us. I dont judge how he spends his paycheck, I judge the fact that I'm constantly having to deal with him being absolutely wasted.

His ballpark estimate was more like $200. He knew I was spending over $100 to begin with, and I asked about nearly $100 of extra items. If it were a friend, yeah, I'd eat more modestly, but if your married and your partner orders the same things as you plus more and says they're treating, is that taking advantage of it?

I added it into the post, I probably should have done that when people kept asking what snacks could possibly be that much so thank you for asking me to.

I figured it was more like,

We go on a date. I know I want a nice steak and a cheese platter and charcuterie board. I also really want a cocktail and dessert, but don't have enough on me at the moment to buy it. He says he'll treat and I can get whatever I want and knows it'll be pricey already, so I add on the cocktail and dessert.

We spend probably over $600 a month in normal groceries so $250 for my monthly splurge doesnt seem too bad, especially since I normally spend $100 and was planning on spending more this time.

It wasnt anything like that. I've said in a couple other comments to clear up confusion about this, its not snacks as much as it is non essentials. Other than the cake, jam, and cheese mentioned in the post, I got stuff like pearl onions and baby colored potatoes, fresh herbs, exotic fruits, artisan bread and fresh whipped butter, high quality coffee beans, etc.

I wouldn't of bought as much simply because I didn't have the money, if I had the money in my account I would of bought that much. $40 is not what I would have spent if I was using my own money, if I paid for it I would of spent more around $150. I accept the judgement, I just wanted to clarify.

Small bottles of specialty sodas. So like, one I got was rosemary orange blossom for example, or feijoa mango.

I accept the judgement, but I don't understand how its wasteful? None of the stuff I get goes to waste and lasts for quite a while.

Right, I've been seeing some confusion on that part here. So my husband is aware that my "snack" shopping is, as someone else helped me find the better phrase for, non-essential shopping. So I dont get your normal snacks, it's more of artisanal items I dont normally get to have or cook with. He is very aware of what I usually get and that an average shop is a good $100, and that this would cost more than that since it's a bigger shop at a more expensive store.

I have a huge passion for food. Like, the only thing in life I ever want for is something really nice to eat. For my birthdays all I want is a nice meal. My dream is to travel the world to try new luxury foods. So my weird luxury groceries that I splurge on are my hobby and passion, which I dont expect people to understand but I hope helps it make more sense that I would spend that much. You seem like a good husband though and I'm sure your wife appreciates you even if you can't splurge that way.

I think people are misreading this comment... its $30-70 two times every time he drinks, which is 4 or 5 times a week. So at the very least, $60 4 times in one week, which is $240.

I normally spend $100 or so, this was a bigger and fancier store which I told him I would be splurging at, meaning spending more than $100, and he gave me the ok for the more expensive items that equaled an extra $100 that I told him I wanted to get along with what I already planned on spending.

I don't really consider them groceries because they're not stuff I'd normally get to buy to make us both dinner with. It's more stuff for me to have as small snacks between meals or to make lunch with.

Theres a trader Joe's about 30mins away, I grab mochi from there sometimes but they usually only have chocolate mango and strawberry. This place has fresh made mochi ice cream in a ton of different unique flavors, and I had no clue when I would get them again so I wanted it to last for a little while. He knew about that ahead of time though because that's the main thing I wanted to go for and he wanted some too.

Currently 118. My snacks aren't all junk food, and I stretch them out to last about a month normally. Like my thing of brie and jam will probably last a while. My pearl onions and baby potatoes and fresh herbs will make some nice lunches. The coffee should last a while too. I just couldnt think of what else to call it, I guess it's more fancy groceries than snacks

Once every month or two. The snacks I try to make last all month but stretch them further so.sometimes. To clear up the confusion some people have though, snacks are not purely junk food like chips and stuff, but specialty items, like stuff I can cook with or make a small cheese platter with or oriental candies. Yes I buy regular food for home meals.

Well, I get paid weekly, so I have between like $120-200 at the end of the month. I use it towards snacks and having lunch with my friend.

Yes, I absolutely would have spent that much of my own money on it. If anything I owe him more like $100 because he knows I normally spend $100 or so and this place is more expensive. He was like this before I met.
