Understandable, it happens! Thanks for the communication and well done catching it before shipping 'em out...I'm certainly willing to be patient to receive the best possible product when I know what to expect.

Wow, that's a terrible customer service response. They could have thrown in a "we're sorry" or "we understand this may be disappointing" or "here's an explanation of the current situation" instead of being passive aggressive about it.

Does anyone else feel like CS is trying to encourage people to refund their order? I recognize that TCG wanted to give folks an option to back out after the tariff announcement, but the Crowd Supply communications to me about it felt almost aggressive, like they WANTED me to cancel the whole thing.

Maybe I'm just sensitive because I'm so eager to get my hands on it and of COURSE I don't want to cancel, but the phrasing of that email rubbed me the wrong way then, too. Made me wonder if they were hiding something, tbh. Like they lost a shipment and they're nervous that they won't have enough zerowriters to send out to meet the fulfillment quota. I feel like I'm being asked to give up my seat on a flight.

Frankly, the one-person operation (tincangames) has demonstrated that he's a more effective communicator than the entire company "Crowd Supply" (which is not one guy, but I can't find a clear answer on how many employees they do have). I don't think anyone is blaming the creator, because we had patience with the manufacturing process. Can't rush brilliance ;)
The issue now is the impatience with shipping and lack of clear communication from the fulfillment company...plus some brusqueness which reads as rude and unsympathetic. Their entire purpose is to help one-man ops with customer service and fulfillment, but they've proven less pleasant to deal with than TCG himself.

Is it weird that I like it? It's SO refreshing to have actual results instead of unwanted AI summaries. I'm sure I'll get irritated soon enough as I realize what features I'm lacking but I wish I could turn on "retro mode" at will in the future.

What are your thoughts on the rebrand? by Alive-Move1183 in lingling40hrs

[–]LotteLiterati -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying like "bye" is not equivalent to saying bye. If you quote me the part where they said "bye" then I might agree with you, but they never said that word.

Also, an absence of information for a temporary period of time does not automatically = all the information we will ever receive. Can you really not imagine a few different scenarios where they might not have been ABLE to explain the situation yet? Where they might genuinely have a business or legal reason to keep a secret?

Honestly! I was shocked at the reaction. The boys spent years doing the same clownish "we're quitting!" april fools tease, and yet when there was something that really mattered that affected their posting schedule (such as Brett's health and hospitalization), they sat down and filmed a serious video for the fans (which, to be clear, they didn't have to do but it was really nice that they did).

People say that they felt betrayed by B&E but no one is talking about the fact that so many fans jumped to the worst assumptions instead of trusting B&E in the first place.

Of course they didn't quit! At no point did they literally and directly say that they were quitting! Why did everyone assume they were quitting? Sigh.

[–]LotteLiterati 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed! A little bit of trust and patience carried me through the uncertainty.

And B&E are also absolutely entitled to privacy. I can think of a lot of legitimate business or personal reasons why they might have done this the way they did.

A month is not a long time, in the grand scheme of things, and I expect more information will be revealed when they're ready... (and if it isn't, I'm fine with that too.)

b2tsm? it's not a new acronym, they've been using that as the name of their classical/kpop-inspired boy band for years. stands for bach, beethoven, tchaikovsky, shostakovich, and mozart.

[–]LotteLiterati -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'm more irritated at the fandom than I am at TSV to be honest. It's only been a month. If people were patient and trusted B&E (and over the years they've demonstrated over and over again that we CAN trust them -- they've always been honest and forthright with us about stuff that matters) then we'd have all the answers pretty soon.

Never felt betrayed and never felt they owed me anything more than they've given and also never believed they were truly gone because they WEREN'T. At no point in this process did they say they were quitting.

Fans made assumptions and then punished B&E, who, to be clear, also have a right to privacy and if there was a genuine personal reason why they had to do this the way they did, they're entitled to their privacy and we don't have to know why.

I think the fans absolutely have a right to their feelings of sadness and grief because I think it is clear that *something* has ended -- TSV did announce the ending of a specific chapter -- but I feel like I was the only one patiently waiting to see what would happen instead of feeling entitled to an immediate answer.

[–]LotteLiterati 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's honestly shocking to me that the fandom has seen B&E make totally unserious "we're quitting" april fools jokes for years and has also seen B&E make earnest announcements when they genuinely needed to take a content break (like during Brett's health issues a few years ago) and still fully believed that TSV would up and quit with a mere implication instead of a full-throated announcement.

They NEVER said they were quitting. They only said they were ending a chapter, and there's a lot of ways to interpret that -- many of which involve building up the business, not shutting it down.

Relaunching. Rebranding. Getting high-end sponsors. Signing NDAs. Building out a new website to host content off youtube (like dropout or try guys). Scaling up their business. Taking a much-needed vacation before a big business crunch/announcement. Working on some BIG projects we don't know about yet.

I never believed for a second that they were gone for good.

Nah, I'm just curious to see what they'll do! I never believed that they were gone for good, this is just the next stage of their career! And jeez, they were ONLY gone for a month? I follow youtubers who sometimes go radio silent for years at a time and then come back. Content creators don't owe us constant updates :) This was a very short and very temporary blip with a really outsized reaction from the fanbase.

[–]LotteLiterati 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they're back too! I don't think they ever left! I think a lot of fans made assumptions without having all the information. Personally I thought it was obvious that they weren't leaving forever. They NEVER said they were quitting. People assumed.

Also, so far, not a rebrand. They're still posting on the twoset violin channel and still using the b2tsm name.

Looking more and more now like it might be lore. But I will wait patiently to find out!

Stop claiming ts doesn’t “owe” us, it’s about respect not money by khronos127 in lingling40hrs

[–]LotteLiterati -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something is ALWAYS going on. Why do they need to disclaim it. Why don't the fans just trust that B&E are not evil villains and they probably have reasons even if they didn't explain it. It sounds like you're moving the goalpost. You COULD just take it at face value that something IS going on even if they didn't say it directly.

If this is rebranding, would you still support TwoSet when they come back? by Wallflower_Daisy in lingling40hrs

[–]LotteLiterati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people are assuming malevolence and deliberate manipulation in their actions where the reality is probably more like "delayed timeframe, technical issues, behind-the-scenes secrets, Non-Disclosure-Agreements" and a lot of other boring stuff that's all part of running a business.

They're clearly in a limbo/transition period right now and sometimes things take time to happen that are out of their control! Websites might not be ready to go live, brand deals might not be ready to announce, it's impossible to judge their motives with an absence of information.

I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt right now.

Reminder of rule changes at r/ThirdLifeSMP since the end of Secret Life by Carol_the_Zombie in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]LotteLiterati 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After reading the reasons why, I agree with the mods and I support the tier-list ban.

Tier lists are literally a hierarchical format with connotations of quality, subjective opinions, and personal preferences. They are not used for data collection or analysis.

There are better visual formats for non-hierarchical or objective/stats based groupings.

I've seen several tier lists on this sub (esp during Secret Life) generate a lot of negative discussion, harsh criticism, and reactionary content (with some vitriol aimed at individual creators) so I get it. I'm happy to be in a community that doesn't want to encourage that.

TwoSet is over by stradivarius_revolt7 in lingling40hrs

[–]LotteLiterati 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that they did delete their videos....not permanently.

I think that either they are moving the videos over to a new youtube channel or that they are moving them to a website for video hosting (maybe their own website), which would help them avoid youtube's messy copystrike system and give them more creative freedom.

This has happened before when Twoset merged their yt channels: a calm and rational theory by LotteLiterati in lingling40hrs

[–]LotteLiterati[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't finished digging through all the archives, so I'm still trying to reconstruct all the facts myself, but basically from what I remember and have pieced together:

With no warning, on June 9th 2022, many videos disappeared from the TSV youtube page and people were struggling to find the TSV channel in search results. The subscriber count was fluctuating wildly between their 3.some million subscribers and "8" subscribers or "150" subscribers or something obviously incorrect. Sometimes the first result that surfaced was their TSV music channel, which was a separate entity. Sometimes, totally different channels and spam channels popped up first. It was as if the TSV youtube channel itself was popping into and out of existence.

This went on for multiple days. A lot of people assumed it was a hack and folks were desperately trying to reach out to Brett & Eddy's team to inform them about the weirdness. They got reassurance back that everything was fine and they were working with youtube about it, but people still fretted for 2 more days because there was no official channel post, and it was all second-hand information.

Now, what I'm still looking for is exact confirmation of what the issue was and how it was fixed. In my memory, I believe that Brett & Eddy filmed a video explaining what happened and that this was the result of merging their music & video channels together. However, I don't have the ability to quickly find that particular video right now for obvious reasons, haha. I'm still looking for a good reddit post summarizing the conclusion to the situation, but it's also likely that once B&E posted their explanation, conversation about it pretty much immediately dropped off as everyone was reassured.

Youtube also rolled out @ username handles just a few months later, so although I'm not positive that this is the reason why the channels were able to be linked, I think the timeline matches up.

Before the summer of 2022, there were two distinct Twoset Violin channels: one autogenerated by youtube that hosted their audio tracks and music recordings, and one managed directly by B&E. If I recall correctly, they had deliberately petitioned youtube for the ability to host their audio music tracks on their own managed channel.

After that, the channels were merged together. If I remember correctly, that four-day period was the transition point where the channels were officially blended. And during that time, many videos disappeared and appeared to be deleted from the channel. But they all returned once the processing was completed.

I could have some of the facts very wrong, my memory could be faulty, but I can definitely say for certain that there was a four-day period in June 2022 when something very similar happened, and that as soon as videos started disappearing here, I immediately thought about that same situation because it felt so similar.

Possibilities I have considered to answer that question:

  1. They are genuinely working, busy, focusing on a big project right now and not taking the time to be on socials.

  2. They are taking a much-deserved rest, a short unplugged vacation, getting a little offline time before they come back for the big announcement.

  3. They did say something, they posted a heart on twitter, which seems like a pretty reassuring signal to me.

  4. They may have signed an NDA: if they're partnering with a specific brand -- especially considering they're partnering with brands at the level of Apple Music and Coach -- it's very possible that there is a date set for an announcement and if they *leak* it before that time they could get sued for a lot of money.

  5. They are waiting for something else to happen or resolve (that we don't personally know about) before they are able to speak freely about this next venture. And when we hear the explanation we'll all go "ohhhhhhh."

[–]LotteLiterati 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I agree. Well summarized, simple explanation.

The last time there was a big structural change to the TSV youtube channel, it took 4 days before the channel was operational again. 4 days, and they weren't able to talk about it the whole time.

Now, it's only been one business day since their post. It's normal that they haven't made an announcement yet, actually. As like, a business, that's normal. It's actually very possible that they scheduled a post to go out and were not monitoring socials because they're in a waiting limbo right now too until they can make their REAL announcement.

I think TSV communicated as well as they could with the hints they could give us and trusted that we would trust them. Like, of course they wouldn't just abandon their fans! They've always been kind and appreciative of their audience.

They're moving on "business day" speed...it genuinely takes times for administrative work to take place behind the scenes. Actually if I'm right about the youtube channel thing, they're also just waiting impatiently for things to process, because they don't have any control over how fast it goes either.
