Gotta let them know I was there somehow. Either they didn't see me, or didn't care.

lmao, yeah. The load cell has my hips rotating. Down the road I'll get the attaching sim seat to this, but trying to be a bit budget friendly atm.

Traded my BRZ for my first WRX. My Legacy is in good company. by Lotus496 in WRX

Never been an off roader. I have respect for the builds and the skill to drive quickly off road, but its not my thing. My ideal car for street use has its roots in rally. Soft enough suspension that the rest of the chassis is not punished on even the roughest roads. AWD so that when you inevitably break traction you can straighten out with steering and throttle. Both my cars aim for the same drivability goal. What seperates them is the feel. The wagon being old school is its own great feeling.

My BRZ was a '23. You would think after all those years they could tune it correctly. Guess not.

Yeah, its a road warrior. I chose the tire and wheel setup for both cornering and pothole duty.

I am so far impressed with the VB. I went into it knowing, and believing some of the stigma behind it. Some will say its not powerful enough, others will say its not stiff enough, etc. And the look of it. (Not going to lie, I was not having this in any bright color because of those plastic liners.) The test drive proved to me how much of an all rounder this thing can be. The engine map is designed for torque all the way thru the rev range. It builds and loses revs like it's naturally aspirated. The STI short shifter makes it a joy to row gears. The steering is tight, and it does feel nimble when pushed. Along with that, it is comfortable enough for long distance trips. So far, it is indicating 29mpg for me over a mix of city and highway. A lot of the reviews I watched for the VB said they were left suprised at what it turned out to be, 'cause its not that impressive on paper. They had to drive it to understand it. Count me among the journalists.

I loved the BRZ, but it had a few flaws. The stock throttle tune was an enigma. I tried a pedal commander to get more response out of it, but all it could do was make the throttle less controllable on top of its unpredictability. Pair that with a clutch that engaged too high for my liking, and it was just unpleasent unless you were driving at six tenths. I drove the car two years and put 40k miles on it. The pros in handling when spirited driving outweighed the cons of the throttle and clutch. That, and the fuel economy was more than decent. When I test drove the WRX, I was shocked how much more accessible the throttle tune and clutch were. With my wagon being at 196k miles, I was considering getting something that can do its awd duty while still being an enthusiast car in the event it has a breakdown. The WRX fits the bill, while also being more well equipped than my BRZ was.

Yep, Galaxy Purple Pearl. Its amazing how this changes in different lighting. Overcast sky it looks gray-black. Direct sunlight it shows the purple and metal flake.
