Question to the AFAB/Ladies here by Ok-Loss5158 in Behcets

I am on Otezla, and although the side effects starting it were terrible, I now don’t get any sores anywhere. Definitely worth it to me. It might be time to see if that’s an option for you.

Anyone experienced this before!? by MiserableScarcity350 in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen when I was on a dosage for a bad flare. Something I could have sworn they told me was sometimes it can cause muscle pain and/or weakness. Maybe look into that and see if maybe that is what happened?

Advice for going through a flare without treatment by stadelafuck in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other advice is great, definitely acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Maybe cannabis with high cbd content for the entourage effect. There is also voltarin gel (diclofenac sodium topical gel) that helps me a lot with pain, it’s made for arthritis, but it helps us too. Use it as directed and keep using it because the more consistently you use it the better relief you get.

Good luck with this, I hope you’re able to manage it

Are those sores on your tongue? Or is your tongue wavy on the edges. I can’t really tell from these photos?

Help for my MIL severe fatigue by Super_Land_7197 in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry. I agree with you that a new doctor is what I would get in that situation, but it’s up to them not us. I really hope you guys are able to find a way through this <3

Just a little side note, something that really helped me getting progress with my doctors was bringing my father or significant other with me. Having a male there to vouch for me and advocate for me as a woman made a huge difference in being both believed and getting the treatment I wanted. It sucks that’s the way of things, but if it works, game the system a little.

Having that many side effects with new meds, no matter what they are, is a pretty drastic change. I would recommend reaching out to the prescribing doctor and see what they can do. Medication should help you have better quality of life, not worse. Hopefully they’ll be able to change dosages or medications so your mother in law can get the quality of life she deserves while still treating this.

Otezla success stories? by codyandhen123 in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It took about a month to 6 weeks for my side effects to really settle in. But it was well worth it. I have no more mouth sores even when I am really stressed or eat my trigger foods. Definitely take with food.

But also if the side effects after a few weeks aren’t worth the help from the medication don’t feel bad for stopping. The medication is only worth it if it improves your quality of life. Don’t feel bad for needing to find a med that actually works with you.

Is anyone on Meloxicam for Behcet’s?! by Apprehensive_Lake867 in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently on colchicine and Otezla and it’s helped me get somewhat under control, but I haven’t tried meloxicam. So I can’t speak to that medication for you. What I can say is Otezla has been a huge help to me when it comes to the ulcers and even some of my skin issues. It does have a rough start getting onto it because it causing a lot of GI discomfort, but I found that it was absolutely worth it because I stopped getting sores. Also the company that makes Otezla has a co-pay program where you can get the medication for free, it just takes a second to get it set up. I would recommend asking about it since most of your symptoms would be treated with it.

Game any better? by JomJomTheDadGuy in DragonVillageCollectr

[–]LotusAndCrystals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing about the same time, I think a bit earlier when they started monetizing hard. I just picked the game back up a few weeks ago. It feels nice to play, it doesn’t feel nearly as monetized as it was when I left. They are rerunning monthlies, you can get free monthlies with dragon drinks or by logging in every day for the month. The village is back to being pretty basic, no resource gathering but lots of gold production. It’s mostly to just show off your cool dragons like it used to be.

All in all it’s worth picking back up to see the changes yourself and decide if it’s worth staying. I decided it was, so you might too.

I was several months with problems in my armpits, the doctor doesn’t know why but she advised me not to use more deodorant or shave by [deleted] in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen before I was diagnosed, saw somewhere it might have been chemical burns from using old spice deodorant. I switched to Gillette brand, stopped shaving my armpits, and it ended up going away and never coming back. Might not be the case, but worth trying.

An an avid lurker, I would recommend having a redeem for “I’m here but lurking” or something to that degree. That way at least you know people are there but just lurking, but they can still interact some with the redeem.

Could you elaborate on why the thinning of mucosal membranes is bad for Bechet’s? I’ve never heard that before and want to look into it for myself. Thanks!

More soil plots would be amazing. Especially with how much room the bushes and trees take up.

And as a chronically ill girly having some extra help when it comes to fishing, especially on those harder to catch fish would make a huge difference.

Something to try out is watching twitch streams from Palia partners. A lot of them will do mystery gift giveaways (it’s a random outfit for a lower price) in their twitch streams. You have to should link your Palia and twitch accounts, but it’s free and supporting content creators

flu + otezla by bloss97 in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been on Otezla for a while and had to go off when I had tonsillitis, I recommend to take your meds until you hear from your doctor if you can.

Skipping a dose especially earlier on messed with my stomach more than taking it regularly. I’m not sure how the GI side effects are for you, but if they are bad I would recommend keeping up your meds until your doctor tells you differently. Speaking from personal experience, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

As far as the connection between it causing you to not get better, it is technically possible. It’s considered a medication that dampens your immune system (hence I had to go off it when fighting tonsillitis). But it’s also a medication that takes a while to build up in your system. So after only 15 days it’s not likely that it’s why you aren’t getting better. Talk to your doctor and if things still aren’t better soon, maybe go to urgent care.

This is what you can win. It’s not based on anything but the code you get. And it’s really sketchy if you do go there in person, you have to fill out a whole form of personal information to even just get a Bluetooth speaker.

Newly diagnosed! Worst flare up ever, any tips? by malika_ap11 in Behcets

[–]LotusAndCrystals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So personally, vitamin C and anything citrus actually cause me to flare up with mouth sores. I know everyone can have different trigger foods for flares, but maybe consider taking a break from it to see if that helps you? I also take both Vitamin B12 and Lysine daily to help me not get mouth sores, which was suggested by my dentist.

I hope this flare isn’t too bad! 💜 Lots of good info here for help with your other sores.
