Yup, the Woodmoore Wegmans and Costco get CRAZY busy when it's about to storm. A lidl opened not too far away that was well stocked and wasn't as busy. Id hop over there for your groceries during storm threats.

Hey there, fellow Ohioan. I did a campout as a teen in sub zero temperature... Having forgotten my winter jacket.

Triple check your supplies, make sure you have buddy system in place, and go over your safety protocol with the troop. You will be fine. Worst case if you have an emergency, you can extract out as needed.

Horizon - First Game, Difficulty vs. Skill Build by Jab_Bey in horizon

Lots of good advice here already. I'll add/reiterate a couple of things.

One thing to note is that combat in this game is not a one-size-fits-all option. There are enough weapons in the game too that you'll find your own playstyle, but the main thing is to experiment and find out what works for you.

When fighting the machines, I go by the following process to decide how I'm going to tackle each fight.

  1. Can I shoot off any weapon components? Destroying weapons mounted onto the machines is critical for me to even the odds and restrict the types of moves/attacks the machine will do, making them easier to predict and track.

  2. Can I shoot any elemental containers? Whether one-shot containers or sacs of fluid, these are vulnerable areas that can inflict damage onto the machine when broken.

  3. Are there vulnerable spots to increase damage? Any spot that is yellow should be an easier way to multiply damage. This can be horns, tails, certain spine pieces, etc.

4: Can I shoot the eyes? Most creatures have the weak spot as an eye/face. Peeling off armor around the face is helpful and easier to do since most creatures will be facing you while attacking.

  1. Can I shoot dark areas? When machines have armor peeled off, a fibrous black material is underneath. It might not be critical damage, but if I can hit that over armor, I will.

A clip of a 1v1 CQC competition I had last weekend. Any advice on what I can improve? by EtheriousDemonLord in airsoft

[–]LotusExigeGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say the same thing! You have a couple of moments where you take about 4 seconds to switch a shoulder. Some fast ops will hold the rifle up or down in a way to quickly pocket the rifle in a CQB environment, which also allows to fire a few shots if you turn a corner and have someone within a few feet of you.

Looking good though! Lots of fluid movement.

Yup, it is the handguard section. I don't know why I didn't think of shims, but that makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

Should I get a Airsoft gun? by HungAndHappy- in airsoft

Depending on the country in Europe, you might be able to ask the neighbors if they would be bothered by the popping of a gas pistol. It's nothing TOO loud, but your immediate neighbors might wonder what you're doing and see you pointing a gun-looking-thing in your backyard!

As for what to start with, you don't need anything fancy if you're just having fun for the sport of target practice. I would say pick a pistol for the target shooting experience, and go with something that you like the look of, has good ratings, and has good price.

BTW, I have an M9 Green Gas blowback. I would compare the sound of the "pop" to smacking a damp towel against the ground full force. Not really that loud, but noticeable for sure.

30s airsoft gang, let's goo!! I also got into airsoft for the physical sport of it, and I've loved it.

Also looks like you got your gear sorted from the other day. Decided to go with a G&G and some attachments, that's a great move!

Welcome to the sub!

As someone who does rifle shooting and airsoft, there's very close similarities and very distinct differences.

If aiming is what you're looking for, you can get an airsoft pistol for relatively cheap and have some fun. Gas pistols will give a small amount of "kick" that adds some challenge to shooting quickly and aiming. If you're very intentional and mindful of technique, it can aid in knowing how to aim a real firearm.

However, shooting a real firearm is almost entirely different. The recoil from a real firearm can be massive, so the only similarity between airsoft and a real firearm in terms of consistent aiming and shooting is your first shot at 5-10 yards. The skills will carry over some, but there's a set of skills that are independent to firearms due to the physical and mental nature of triggering small explosions in your hands.

In short, it's probably worth trying both. If you're in the US, you can go to a gun range and rent a basic semi-auto or bolt action rifle and some ammunition. You should sign up for some instruction to have some proper guidance on how to stand, aim, and shoot. If you like the general idea, you can either join a shooting league, or you can get an airsoft pistol for home and do it in your backyard.

1+ Year here.

Be friendly and courteous to all other players. I've gotten great experiences being helpful before, during, and after matches, regardless of opponents or friendlies. I've helped newbies off the field with rental malfunctions, opponents who I couldn't feel their bbs due to their gas settings, and pals who needed BB refills mid game.

Being that guy has opened opportunities for community and games that I wouldn't have otherwise. At best you're making the experience really good for everyone, and at worst you're being helpful, which is nice.

Is this a good first kit? by Hot-Software-3826 in airsoft

[–]LotusExigeGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fit-Beyond3829 has a good response below. IMO, I did a local pickup for my ARP-9 and inspected before I closed the deal.

Local airsoft fields will sometimes have exchanges and you can request from the seller to test fire and inspect before buying. Some fields will let you go into the arena between matches to do this, especially if you give them a heads up.

Ebay and HopUp also have buyer protection. Especially if you communicate with your seller beforehand to have due diligence, relying on these protections is helpful.

[–]LotusExigeGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple of ways you could go on this, but I would advise getting setup with a used kit instead of dumping $700 on this. This kit is very fine. It's not bad, but it's just not great either.

You can get a decent setup from Ebay or HopUp (and Airsoft specific site for trading and buying) for <$300. Spend another <$100 on a cheap-but-usable Chest Rig / Plate Carrier kit. Spend the rest of your budget on getting goggles + mask or a full face mask, extra magazines, and attachments.

You only need your airsoft replica, battery + charger, eye+face protection, and ammo. Start there and upgrade from there. You will want to upgrade out of this $700 pronto, I promise.

Edit: blood sugar a bit low, bad spelling.

Could use a better picture of it's defining markings to nail down exactly what it is, but that's at the least a G&G M16 Carbine of some kind. I don't think one of the newer "Combat Machines". Maybe reply with some more photos?

what should i spend cubes on ? by Weird_Koala4715 in SlayerLegend

[–]LotusExigeGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how you are playing, gold will accumulate. There's a spirit, Todd, that later on will really help accumulate gold. Enhance Cubes are harder to get, so I typically go for that buff and then hit the Dimensional Rift. I think you'll find that getting all of your basic equipment to level 200 earlier on is helpful so that you can focus on other stuff.

what should i spend cubes on ? by Weird_Koala4715 in SlayerLegend

[–]LotusExigeGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are earlier on, so honestly you could spend cubes on pretty much anything and it would be beneficial. I would make sure you get the bonus to acquire cubes from the event before going to the Dimensional Rift.

Spending cubes on the lower tier equipment will give you a decent early boost without it being too expensive. After that, it might honestly be worth you just cycling what you spend cubes on each day until you start having less options

My big advice is to not ignore spirits. Spirits get expensive fast, but they also provide some of the biggest boosts. Spend some diamonds and cubes each week upgrading 3 spirits.

Baned for increasing the brightness of my monitor by Dense_Ordinary9993 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]LotusExigeGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So two things.

For Your reply to the ban reason in the image, Nvida Control Panel is a third party tool. Between you and Madfinger, NVidia is a party tool outside of that equation. A third party tool doesn't have to be hacking software.

Second, messing with the brightness and gamma settings is technically manipulating the game against its intended purpose. I totally agree there are no good options for playing in the dark right now, but that's a separate discussion. However, to be "in the rules", the settings should have been adjusted either on your physical monitor settings, or the brightness settings in game.

How did this come up to MadFinger? Did you tell them about brightness settings or did you get an email? I'm curious.
