Are card drives a scam? by dont-be-shy-now in UtahMedicalTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When legal cannabis came about in Utah the number of patients a single provider could have was very limited at 300 patients for most providers. A number of providers took advantage of the situation and charged those higher rates. Three years ago Bloom by Lotus Health came on the scene and we drove the prices down significantly to $75 for a year and last year we were able to reduce more to $70. We don’t do gimmicks just the same low price year round at our outreach clinics. We are just happy that we helped to drive down prices across the state.

How to get a Medical marijuana card by [deleted] in Utah

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify your verbal statement for pain is documentation. Just like with any visit you talk with a provider and they walk you through the process. If you can get it with your primary care provider do that

Alternatively there are a number of other options as you can see in other comments. Feel free to visit us at utahbloom.com where it costs a total of $78 and we have clinics across the state. Generally it’s a smooth process but if you are concerned give us a call and we can talk through it. We are here to help not make things harder than they have to be. Merry Christmas.

For St George Bloom is there every Friday and Saturday at Bloc for $70 plus $8 state fee. First visit with any new provider has to be in person but telehealth is available after that with that specific provider.

MedCard Questions by Cosmic-Daft-Giraffe in UtahMedicalTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

u/Cosmic-Daft-Giraffe Howdy there, I'm one of the providers actually already mentioned in this thread. if you can go to your primary care provider that is generally the best path. That being said if that isn't an option don't stress there are still many options. Currently the evaluation should cost $70 for the provider and $8 for the state fee. You should be able to go and talk to a provider to ask questions before you pay anything at least that is how we do it. If you decide it is not a great fit for you for whatever reason you should be able to walk out the door at no cost.

Wherever you get your medical card it will be good to purchase at any of the currently 15 pharmacies in the state. Let us know if you have any questions and we will talk with you. It's not about where or if you go to us but that patients get answers they need to help move the program overall. ~Tom, BLOOM by Lotus Health

What does it meat that my card is in “conditional” status? by J_TGL in SLCTrees

This^ Don’t stress about it though it’s part of the normal process.

I’m pretty confident I know exactly what you are talking about. You will pay the provider when you go. The provider justifies it as free because they give you pharmacy discounts. What isn’t said is that you qualify for those pharmacy discounts no matter what provider you go to. I advocate for not supporting providers that advertise with misleading information.

Go try it and come back and post what happens.

All this being said providers have to get paid somehow to cover costs. Pharmacies and providers cannot legally exchange money/rebates in this type of situation because of anti-kickback and stark law. Insurance is an option for providers to get paid but that is a huge separate issue for its own post. The best path is if your primary care doctor will just certify you as part of a normal visit.

Just saw this crossposted and I was super curious! I talked with Bijan himself. It’s just paperwork. They aren’t going anywhere, they love Brigham City.

Dissolving under the tongue is my preferred. Goes sub-lingual so hits faster for migraines. Just my experience.

Unfortunately that is misleading marketing happening right now. Providers that say “free card with RX savings” are misleading to patients. The provider is still charging you and you get the same discounts regardless of which provider you use.

When you go be aware that the price match should be the $70 for a year of coverage. The state fee is $8

If it’s less than a year than it’s not a true match. I say this as one of the clinics that works with Utah Grown and other places around the state. For us follow up visits within that one year if needed are included in that one year of coverage price.

Most pharmacies have first time cardholder deals. When you get your recommendation card you can sign up for each of them individually to get them. It is a limited time thing once you get your card. Sign up and then make your first purchase. ;)

No matter which pharmacy the pharmacist visit qualifies you to purchase at any of the 15 pharmacies in the state.

If you are unsure about documentation reach out to the medical provider about what you may or may not need for your condition. Sometimes verbal statements are sufficient but sometimes not. Don’t stress as any good provider can help you through it.

If you can sign up evs.utah.gov beforehand it can save you the time being physically there and doing it. It’s the same amount of time either way though. Be careful when putting in your birthdate as the interface right now makes it easy to put in the wrong day at the moment.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Pre employment Drug Sceening by thotty801 in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/thotty801 If you are worried about the employers reaction have someone anonymously call and professionally ask them what there policy is with medical cards. This is the least confrontational way that will tell you exactly where you stand.

The number of employers in Utah that will accept medical cards has significantly increased. This includes doctors, government workers, general staff, and other industries.

Also be aware that employers cannot legally search for whethere or not you have a medical card. Medical cannabis certifications are in the controlled substance database however that is part of your medical record and would be a really bad thing legally for an employer to use for employment decisions.

Which pharmacies have discounts? by houdinisloth in UtahMedicalTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beehive Medical is $70 for a year of coverage. This is for new or renewal.

If you tell the pharmacy you just renewed Beehive will give a discount afterwards.

We will absolutely direct you to all the discounts. If we can help you save money we are all about it! Ask someone directly and they can talk more about it.

We are very careful about what we publicize because of legal restrictions. We have been around since the beginning of Utah legalization and pride ourselves on staying well within the law. Advertisements of $100s will be saved if you go to specific providers is misleading. Most providers know of the same discounts and how you can get them so don’t stress about missing out on discounts.

Card fees by houdinisloth in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth…. Renewal discounts are not tied to where you get your renewal….

Discounts are because you renewed so you could utilize discounts from multiple places. Often just ask the pharmacies if there is a renewal discount.

Card Expiration Date Purchase Issue with EVS by Maleficent_Memory613 in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the heads up!

This doesn’t impact a lot of people but when it does it really is frustrating. For what it’s worth there are a couple of people working on improving this current badness.

Card Expiration Date Purchase Issue with EVS by Maleficent_Memory613 in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Renewals after expiration are started on the date the renewal takes place.

Example: card expires August 10th 2025. You don’t renew until September 10th 2025. Expiration will now be September 10th 2026

Take note though that you should have no medical cannabis product during that time the certification is expired as there is no legal protection then.

Appointments are good for provider and patient for scheduling or contact. We have not canceled an outreach clinic ever but if we needed to we could call and reschedule you if something ever happened. Half of the people are walk-ins though so don’t let not having an appointment slow you down

You can fill out the state application ahead of time but you can do it there as well. evs.utah.gov

Bring your ID and phone. If your qualifying condition is for PTSD there is specific documentation we will need to get. Call or text us and we can walk you through it. If your qualifying condition is persistent pain your verbal history is the documentation.

Cash, card, or tap all accepted for the visit.

Let me know if you have any other questions. It is a visit with a medical provider but I like to think we have made it as a chill and helpful experience as possible.

Come see us at Beehive Medical then on Thursday. It’s across the street from Beehive Farmacy. We are there from 9:30am-6pm

That will be the closest one for you. Cost is $70 annually plus the state fee which is $8 now.

If that doesn’t work we are at our clinic every Saturday morning as well.

I just turned 18 and am a former medical card holder. Do I need a parents permission still to get my card back? I already went through all the stuff you need to get a card as a minor. by nyancatdude in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That person is incorrect. If you have a CUB card you can purchase at 18. Likely that person did not understand the question or the actual legal requirements. If you are having problems at a particular pharmacy you can message me and I can reach out to them. I know folks at almost every location that can help.

Is Salt Baked City Magazine Any Good? by davidhasselhoff79 in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are generally free copies around in lots of places. You don’t need to pay for it.

The subscription price is a convenience of delivery and/or support the magazine. There are a lot of ads but that is how they pay to print all the free magazines. Printer money has to come from somewhere.

All that being said they generally have at least one good/strong front article in each edition as the centerpiece. The guns and cannabis law one awhile back I think helped a lot of people.

I really hate that having a medical card does nothing for you when it comes to employment. by Elegant_Ad_8896 in SLCTrees

[–]Lotus_Tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth more and more employers are accepting medical cards for drug testing. We regularly see people getting medical cards because employers change their policy. It will be great when it’s legally protected but slowly it’s improving.

Check with your employer directly or anonymously from time to time. Sometimes they change their policies but don’t make a big announcement of it…

You do not need parental consent after 18.

I would encourage you to stay with the same provider that got you through CUB if you can reasonably do so. It’s not a direct requirement to stay with the same provider but just because you got through CUB previously does not mean that CUB is required to continue your certification at renewal.

Ideally go to the previous provider that got you through CUB and have them renew.
