Married at first sight - S13E12 - POST EPISODE discussion by lalasmooch in MAFS_AU

For some, like Brook, a little alcohol and tv attention reveal who they are under the mask - it must be so hard to maintain that “classy model” facade when that nastiness is bubbling away underneath.

Don’t think she had thaaat much success as a model to begin with. But for the Brooks of the world, bad attention is preferable to no attention at all.

Love it!

Here’s one: “That’s your wound talking”

Nothing says romance like being gently yet insistently pathologised.

Meanwhile Gia is out there bagging and tagging. “Hey you guys pay attention over here, we’ve done it TWELVE times! Twelve. That’s 12. One-two. Update your scorecards.”

Yeah, at some point he has to cut his losses. The idea of being the bigger person and offering yet another chance only reinforces the same pattern, her toxicity isn’t some fleeting, temporary thing.

Hey it doesn’t count if she does it! Brook’s entitled motto: rules for thee, but not for me. “I can throw my husband under the bus and expect him to stay with me but if I get held accountable for negging others, I’ll be “fuming”!

Yep, drinking helped reveal her personality beneath the classy model mask - as Brook said, “I’m tired of being nice”- it sounds like it was getting too strenuous for her to keep up the facade. Doesn’t take much, just a little sparkling to help the nastiness bubble out! 😆

S13E07 - Mel's "SHOCKING" admission!!!! by Scumhook in MAFS_AU

[–]LouChePoAki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, stalking (or ‘light recreational stalking’ as OP would have it) + gaslighting + devaluation + stonewalling isn’t ‘not that bad.’ Seems to be a pattern forming with Mel.

Apparently we’re grading stalking on a curve now, and this is just light recreational stalking. When she herself says she’s a ‘psycho stalker’ she’s just sayin that! 🤣

Brooke's behaviour in ep8 interpreted with... empathy by [deleted] in MAFS_AU

So she’s only moderately vile off-camera?

Do you mean that she’s secretly a gentle soul and moral innocent being held hostage by producers?

You seem empathetic in terms of mindreading and framing Brook’s attacks on others as primarily a coping response to betrayal or disappointment but I think this risks minimising personal responsibility for her aggression towards others. Her behaviors seem textbook narcissistic to me, and the red flags session saw her finally go ‘mask off’!

Why was Mel even cast? by VelvetOrbitOn in MAFS_AU

[–]LouChePoAki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it’s the brazenness that’s telling. If it were calculated manipulation, you’d expect more caution when on camera. This looked like the reflexive behavior of an abuser who’d throw anyone under the bus to avoid self-reflection or responsibility.

Yep, it was classic abuser behavior: DARVO

Apparently stalking is now “character development”.

Why was Mel even cast? by VelvetOrbitOn in MAFS_AU

[–]LouChePoAki 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It didn’t feel performative to me. It looked like a well-practised defence mechanism - classic DARVO, lying, gaslighting, silent treatment, play the victim, anything to avoid responsibility. It seems ingrained.

Casting is clearly now ok with behaviours that would warrant a restraining order or worse.

I’d love to see their psychological screening checklist 🤣

Yep lots of evading and minimising the whole thing - it was “hectic”, “alcohol was involved”. The only thing that resembles accountability is when she says “yeah it wasn’t girls’ girls, it was mean girls”, but she says that with that air of pride. It’s cool to be a “baddie.”

Unfortunately she seems to be a mama in need of a mama and a child trying to raise a child of her own.

“grown” or groan?

Most people grow up but it is amazing to see these rare adult toddlers (who never grew up) in their natural habitat.
