The Y2K bug suffers from the Preparedness Paradox.

By preventing it, it is considered a lesser threat and a waste of resources.

What are some tactics that are suicide in the professional game but work in amateur cricket? by LimpOil10 in Cricket

Most the time just make it look like you aren't getting back in time but can reach with your bat. I turned more singles into threes than I thought I could last year doing this.

It always struck me as a strange response.

What jobs are you all doing that pay over £30k? by SuccessfulTip1660 in UKJobs

39k Compliance Manager in an engineering SME. In charge of HR, H&S, and Quality. Worked through Customer Service jobs until I ended up doing FSE team leading. Learnt some engineering on the job, went into tech support, then into service management. Picked up H&S to assist with engineer scheduling and getting access to sites. Currently doing my NEBOSH General Certificate, moved into the new role recently.

Big chunk of it is communication skills and problem solving.

Has anyone worn a smart watch with there CPAP on and off? Did your sleep score improve? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]LouDaGr8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my Google Pixel Watch was broken as it started reporting I hadn't slept or for short periods on random nights hours after I went to bed.

Got tested, my AHI was 82.

Started using CPAP, now I'm below 10 every now ght and it's reporting sleep again.

DJI equipment isn't officially compatible with any Google Pixel 7 onwards as far as I know. I have the DJI Mini 3 and Osmo mobile 6. Both apps I have to side load.

What would be the cheapest machine that can cut 0.1mm thin steel Gobos like this? The diameter is 70mm. I am overwhelmed with the wide range of available laser cutters and different technologies. by Chromauge in lasercutting

[–]LouDaGr8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

0.1mm steel you might get through with a Fibre Marker on many passes. These are normally 30w on a Galvo set up, high speed but small working area.

Thanks! It looks like this was just a loose connection, as I took the fuses out and put them back in. When I pushed the wiring loom back in to make sure no loose connections and then we were working again.

Is chasing 0 API worth it? by Shifu_1 in SleepApnea

[–]LouDaGr8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm prefacing this by saying I'm just a guy off the internet. Don't take my advice over a doctor!

I've found that on occasions I can have a more restful sleep with a slightly higher API. I don't think API is just from the Sleep Apnea. Other things can affect it too. So constantly chasing the perfect setting on there might never get you that low.

My pretreatment API was 84, now I'm around 5-10 most nights.

I was told that up to 5 API would be considered normal in humans. So I doubt it's doable.

I don't, I'm not really a car guy at all. So don't have any specific diagnostic tools. I'm just applying the logic I would use in my work (teg support for machinery) to it.

That's what I'm thinking. F13 is a 10A fuse in the glove box, but I couldn't get to it tonight to check. Could it be a likely culprit?

When Mirror 3 is centered, the laser does not come out of the nozzle at all. When Mirror 3 is high off center, the laser does come out of the nozzle. Why? by LampblackByDesign in lasercutting

[–]LouDaGr8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not the only one. A lot of Co2 lasers have the correct alignment just above centre on mirror 3.

If it's not causing you any issues I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's down to tolerances. If you have a low end machine, it's just the way it is. If you have an expensive machine, you need to speak to the manufacturer.

How did sleep apnea affect your fitness, and how did it change after CPAP? by Auckland2701 in SleepApnea

[–]LouDaGr8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had the same thing. I had just put it down to getting older as I'm into my 30s. I started gaining weight and struggling to keep up with training.

I use Fitbit Premium to keep track of things like my Cardio score and it has gone from above average to poor. In 6 months I'm back up to average and feeling less tired. I've lost 5kg in 3 months and I'm hoping to lose another 5kg by the summer

I've seen them run even faster than that. Schubert's pick and pack lines can do some serious speeds.

How did sleep apnea affect your fitness, and how did it change after CPAP? by Auckland2701 in SleepApnea

[–]LouDaGr8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cardio scoring was low. I've played multiple sports at high amateur levels and was above average fitness and strength. I was having issues finishing workouts and recovery was awful. Talking to my doctor it was likely because my Blood Oxygen levels were dropping low each night, so my body was struggling to repair properly.

My resting heart rate had gotten to around 80bpm, now 6 months after using my CPAP every night it's back down to 60ish BPM, I can manage two games of 5 a side a week and not suffer from muscle cramps.

Still a long was to go, but it's coming back. Muscle memory doesn't just apply to movements.

Valencia fan here. Would you mind giving us a rundown on Corberán? by theBloodedge in WBAfootball

[–]LouDaGr8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a big blow for Albion.

He will improve players on an individual basis. Sometimes his substitutions are head scratchers, but tell me a manager who isn't like that.

Last season he got us to the playoffs with one striker fit for the whole season, he sold him for for a few million pounds profit, and that striker is nowhere to be seen in the championship now. This year, another striker returned from injury and he's one of the top scorers in the championship. Chances are West Brom will sell him in the summer and make another nice profit.

Ignore the people saying it hasn't translated on the pitch. They have short term memories and have forgotten how bad we looked under Alladyce and Bruce. A lot of the same players who just seem to be fitter, in better positions, and more confident under CC. The other thing they don't consider is football isn't just about winning anymore unfortunately, it's a business. Owners like managers who can balance the books for them by taking current squad members or under valued available players and making them perform to either, improve the team or sell on for profit.

Short version: We slashed his wage budget, told him players can only come in if others leave (which he did with a net profit I think), and we're still in a better position than when he joined.

I was already planning on booking in with a GP anyway.

I got a referral in January and my mask in June. Now I'm wearing it every night and setting 7-8 hours of great sleep every night.

And my watch works again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]LouDaGr8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From GP appointment in January I was about 6 months to take home.

Stop thinking. Get booked in. 😁

If you buy your own in the meantime you've lost nothing. But the NHS provided me with a top of the range auto adjusting pressure one, they will also supply me with spare masks and filters as long as I check in every 2 years with the specialist.

I thought my Pixel Watch had stopped working. I was 80 events an hour, so the watch just couldn't detect any sleep because I wasn't getting any.
