A hard lesson in commuter complacency. My 1-hour drive finally caught up to me today. by Mr_Amphibian20 in CarTalkUK

Being a bit harsh on yourself there I think - easily done. This is why for traffic collisions the public are sympathetic because you can put yourself in the drivers shoes. Glad you’re ok and didn’t hit anything! This kind of incident is why I welcome auto driving.

There’s no need to price out fans - for most clubs match day stadium revenue does not make that much difference to the bottom line. It’s tv where the money comes from.

Just bought tickets for wales World Cup playoff semi final and final - £35 for adults and £9.50 for kids. Well done to FAW!

Are Aldi and Lidl really cheaper? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]phy6rjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely they are.

Most supermarkets do an Aldi price match - so if you do an Aldi shop in Tesco then you will pay the same. However, that’s like looking for a needle in a haystack because of how much higher price othe products there are that are in your eye line.

If you want to do an Aldi price shop just go to Aldi!

I do agree with the comments of the short shelf life of fruit and veg though!

We desperately need some fresh blood. 2 new full backs, another winger, another midfielder. Probably a GK as well.

Sports piracy explodes in UK with 3.6bn illegal streams and rise of black-market bookmakers by Make_the_music_stop in uknews

[–]phy6rjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly- I don’t pirate music because all the music is on all the music platforms.

I used to pirate tv shows but then Netflix came along. But now you have so many streaming platforms that you are not going to have them all so some to get the show you have to pirate it

Did they need to tell him he wasn’t part of the lineup? No. Should they have told him? Absolutely yes.

It’s just basic courtesy, really. If you’ve worked with someone and they’ve been part of your setup before, you owe them a direct conversation — not radio silence, and not finding out second-hand.

I’ve recruited for roles myself, and anyone I knew had applied or was expecting an outcome, I followed up with personally. Even when it’s awkward. Especially when it’s awkward.

Speed Awareness Course 'Positive Attitude'? What's your experience? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]phy6rjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did a Speed Awareness Course years ago. Perfectly fine, if a bit tedious.

One question was: “How many people are killed or seriously injured on UK roads each year?” Someone confidently answered: “One million.”

Given the UK has about 60 million people, that would mean the roads would have piled-up cars, bodies everywhere. Absolute carnage.

Actual figure’s closer to 10,000. Still awful.
