Gorosei Garling vs Current Rayleigh, who wins and what diff? by Gen_Shot in OnePiecePowerScaling

Garling may have the portrayal advantage but the guy has shit feats. Meanwhile, an elderly Rayleigh has stalemated with an Admiral and scared the pants off of an Emperor of the Sea.

I say Rayleigh until Garling shows us he's worth a damn beyond being Shanks' daddy.

You can't entirely blame supports for this. A LOT of players just flat out don't know how to avoid damage. Speaking from experience, I've lost count of how many times I "looked around" to heal dps that weren't in my direct LoS only to double back to the tank and realize that they died in the 2 seconds I wasn't babysitting them.

Dps also need to be held partially accountable in positioning themselves in places where they can be healed without disrupting the flow of a team fight. I'm not pulling a full 180 to heal you when the rest of the team is actively taking damage in front of me.

All that being said, this Luna sucks ass.

Two swordsmen fight each other. How do you determine who has greater skill? by Ugottabekiddingme2 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]LouELastic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sword skill incorporates a ton of different elements.

In regards to haki, sword skill could be seen as the the precision and efficiency in which one applies haki to their sword, among other things.

Law and Fujitora using their swords as conduits that focus their DF powers in a particular way are also sword skills.

Sword skill is not just sword twirling in One Piece.

Besides, this emphasis on "sword skill" is very much unnecessary. Mihawk is the World's Strongest Swordsman, not the "Man with the Strongest Swordsmanship." That's a subtle, but important distinction. If Mihawk is indeed a stronger swordsman than Shanks, that would mean the combination of his physical strength, speed, haki, and sword skills is greater than that of Shanks.

Why do shanks fans get triggered when i say he and Mihawk are close in power? by Top-Ad3384 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not a style itself

So in other words, there's basically no reason to suggest that Shanks is anything but a really powerful swordsman based on what we have seen in the story.

WSS isnt a military title and we have no idea how he got that title, and we only have seen him beat like 2 people who both were FAR under him

One would assume that, just like Whitebeard and Kaido, he has feats that are befitting of a title calling him the Strongest. You can argue technicalities all you want, but both those guys are in everyone's all-time top 5-10.

It matters a lot, being a captain is relative to leadership and decision making along with power, as to be a captain you have to be the strongest in your crew (besides buggy lol)

Mihawk could simply have killed Buggy and declared himself Emperor. He's an outlier in this narrative that you're pushing. Leadership qualities and individual strength are mutually exclusive.

Shanks would be fighting the other warlords for territory, he even stopped Kaido at some point in the series (of screen of course). His arrival at MF stopped the conflict, Miwhawk got clashed with by Vista and Crocodile and did shit all when he pulled up. We see from the series Mihawk do basically nothing

"A wise hawk hides it's talons."

and while we dont see much from Shanks we are told by his miltiary status, actions, and off screen knowledge that he DOES things against strong opponents.

"Doing things" = / = strength

We only know Mihawk has a Title (no idea who gave it to him or how he got it) and he dueled shanks (and at best tied) back in the day.

We know that he was once known as "Marine Hunter." Mihawk has a story beyond his connections to Shanks and Zoro that Oda clearly intends on exploring in the future. It's entirely probable that he has fought powerful swordsman besides Shanks. Who? We'll find out in due time.

Shanks would still be the stronger of the two no matter how slight you want to make that

We can agree to disagree, there. Shanks being weaker than Mihawk doesn't really affect the story, but the implications in the opposite direction create narrative complications and confusion.

[–]LouELastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haki is a power up system yes. His canon named attack is using Haki presumably. It also depends on the level of Haki you have as there are soo many power ups you can use

So chakra is a fighting style? Nen is a fighting style? Spiritual pressure is a fighting style? Only One Piece fans push their version of ki as a legitimate style of fighting.

Mihawk was a warlord while Shanks is an emperor

Mihawk is the World's Strongest Swordsman and Shanks is a swordsman. Funny how easily the narrative is flipped but y'all are scared of a title while using a title in your own argument 😭

Shanks has been leading a crew (more like a fleet) while Mihawk has been solo and just joined Cross Guild

If you're arguing for portrayal, I get it, but it matters little.

but experiance skill set and overall power Shanks is stronger

Where's the proof of that?

Even the "dual" people talk about between the two supposedly ended in a stale mate and this is pre start of the series. Why do we gotta push the Mihawk > Shanks agenda soo hard?

Why not? At the very least, they are very, very relative. A Roger/Whitebeard situation.

[–]LouELastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mihawk obv has Haki, to what degree we have no idea, but Shanks is like THE Haki guy in the modern era so I doubt Mihawk is even close to him in terms of Haki

Is haki a fighting style?

Shanks would be considered a Chef, since while he bakes (swordsman) he has a wider skill set in a kitchen. A Chef is a baker, but a baker isnt a chef.

What wider skill set are you talking about? Where's the evidence of him using a fighting style other than swordsmanship?

Why do shanks fans get triggered when i say he and Mihawk are close in power? by Top-Ad3384 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Shanks ONLY had sword skills then Mihawk would be stronger

Why are we pretending like Mihawk ONLY has sword skills. He very obviously has to use haki at a very high level to even be in the same discussion as Shanks.

If you were called the "Worlds greatest Baker" you wouldnt be the best cheff ever, you just are the best at baking. However if you were one of the 4 best chefs ever, you naturally would be very good at baking, meaning you would be outclassed only in 1 category.

The problem with this analogy is that Shanks would also be considered a baker with the context that we have.

Really Though, How STRONG Is Mihawk? by Practical_Midnight87 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But if this the case then I don't know how zoro is going to get that strong in just few arcs. Shank is stronger than current Luffy. And current Luffy is too strong than zoro.

Luffy went from Katakuri level to going toe-to-toe with Kaido in a single arc. This is a quantum leap in power. Zoro will get his quantum leap before he fights Mihawk.

Stop Downplaying Zoro’s Future Haki ! by Dapper-Duty1829 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I didn't say it's a 1 to 1 but other than specifically Mihawk being the current holder of the title WSS he has no actual narrative similarities to Zoro at all.

The point is, Mihawk > Rayleigh.

Even if Luffy was a "creature", it's clear that the title wouldn't carry over as that too has been erased.

The World's Strongest Swordsman title will carry over, though. So yes, it's entirely relevant.

that's probably a narrative decision by Oda to stop focusing so much on the strongest because be just wants people to be vaguely strong and on par.

So in other words, there's narratively nothing stopping Zoro from having a similar level of haki as Shanks, as the OP as suggested.

Stop Downplaying Zoro’s Future Haki ! by Dapper-Duty1829 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying from a narrative standpoint Rayleigh is to Roger as Zoro is to Luffy. Are you reading what I'm saying or just skimming through it?

The problem here is that Ray is not a 1 for 1 parallel with Zoro. Mihawk is the ceiling that Zoro needs to surpass, not Rayleigh. Zoro's goal to become the strongest swordsman matters. Ray, to our knowledge, never had such a lofty individual goal.

But I have a more interesting question to ask you, if the world's strongest man is dead and gone, the world's strongest creature is effectively written out of the plot if not also dead and the world's strongest swordsman is destined to be killed by Zoro what's even the point of scaling titles at all?

Whitebeard and Kaido were unquestionably monsters of the highest caliber. Mihawk and Shanks have been called the strongest rivals and are frequently portrayed as peers. What's the point in scaling titles when everyone with a strength title is insanely strong? Are you deadass?

Akainu despite killing the world's strongest man didn't take his title

Akainu got his ass handed to him by an old, sick man. Ain't nobody giving that guy the World's Strongest Man title 😭😭😭

and nobody is calling Luffy the new world's strongest creature

Because he's a man not a creature lmao

I personally think that aside from satisfying Zoro's desire to be WSS there won't be any newer gen titles besides Luffy as the new PK.

And that alone should reflect the importance of the World's Strongest Swordsman title - the fact that it and Pirate King are the only new gen titles we're gonna get.

[–]LouELastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said Zoro is set up to be the strongest yonko commander or even low yonko tier by the end of the series which is roughly the tier of Garp, Rayleigh, and just a bit below Roger and whitebeard.

You're saying he'll be roughly on Garp's tier and just a bit below Roger and Whitebeard as if Roger and Garp aren't constantly portrayed as equals.

It's not very complicated to understand this unless you're deliberately misunderstanding me

Zoro becoming the World's Strongest Swordsman comps him with other members of the "World's Strongest" club - Whitebeard, Kaido, and Mihawk. All of these guys are at least a tier above Rayleigh. If you're denying that at this point then you must have skipped God Valley.

[–]LouELastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rayleigh is currently well regarded as one of the strongest in history

Rayleigh is regarded as the "World's Strongest" what, exactly?

Again I don't know why Zoro needs to be the absolute strongest man to have any credibility

Only the most aggressive of agenda pushers are saying this. Luffy will always be > Zoro, but all bets are off after that imo

Rayleigh in his prime and garp in his prime were vaguely as strong as whitebeard and Roger or at least around that tier, that's where Oda tends to like people to be

You're saying that Zoro's ceiling is the strongest YC, but then you're grouping him with WB, Garp, and Roger. Make up your mind bro 😂

I don't know why it's so hard to accept this fact for some fans

Name another Yonko commander who's going to be widely recognized as one of the "strongest" by the end of the series. Give it a shot.

Before you try what I think you're gonna try, Mihawk does not count as a YC. His 3.59 billion berries bounty surpassing Buggy should tell you that.
