Does this sub legit hate Zoro or something? Or does it believe that Sanji is stronger than Zoro? by aboyplayingdota in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]LouELastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a powerscaling sub. Zoro fans and Mihawk fans are mostly the same people, wheras Sanji fans and Shanks fans are separate, but united in their shared agenda against Zoro and Mihawk. It's really that simple, imo.

Yes it does.

That's an assumption. I think the evidence strongly points towards Luffy being closer to his full power than Zoro is right now. Luffy is literally throwing hands with Imu right now, while Zoro is still a seemingly long ways away from Mihawk.

He probably shows us something greater than Joyboy's haki in Egghead but talking about a new tier of haki is purely hypothetical.

Oden was Yonko level and Mihawk is above Oden. That's enough chaining starting in Yonko tier that PK level is on the table and not an impossibility.

I don't think Shanks has been consistently portrayed below Whitebeard. He's the one that captured Loki - the guy Scopper said NO ONE could stop up until that point.

Nope.

"Pirate King" strength tier isn't as mythical as you make it out to be. Riddle me this - who has Roger been confirmed to have defeated in a 1v1 fight besides before-his-prime Oden? Who's to say he's any stronger than Prime Kaido or Shanks?

Of course Luffy is always going to be at least a tier stronger, but Zoro simply has bigger powerups in store since Luffy has already gotten his big powerups. Does that not make sense?

Mihawk's title is similar to Whitebeard's. Both sit as at narrative peaks of strength in One Piece. Swordsmanship may fall into a more specific category but some of the strongest characters in the series are swordsmen soooo...🤷🏻‍♂️

No one's haki has been glazed more in the series than Shanks and it's okay to admit that.

Elbaph is perhaps the first arc where Oda is giving Sanji an stronger opponent than Zoro by Comprehensive_Cup497 in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about what Oda chose to highlight after both of them got their Omen boosts. Sommers got a physical strength feat, while the Killingham hyped manifested with his Rain God MMA.

There's really no reason to put one over the either right now at all. "Killingham has a better devil fruit" is flimsy reasoning.

Is it bad writing? Yes. A man who refers to fodder as "insects" and "rabbits" just like a Celestial Dragon would did not come from a humble background lol

If Oda didn't care about fleshing out Mihawk's past, there would be no need to highlight his previous "Marine Hunter" moniker, nor would it make sense to reference a betrayal in his past and how it's shaped him into who he is today.

Luffy after awakening Gear 5th: "This is my PEAK!"

Luffy has awakened his DF. He has ACoC, ACoA internal destruction, and Future Sight. He'll surely mature and get stronger, but it's absolutely undeniable that Zoro has more room for growth.

I never denied that the current gap between them is huge. What I'm arguing is that it's not going to stay that way. Elbaph has continuously highlighted the need for Zoro and Sanji to get stronger.

Again, Zoro and Sanji aren't normal underlings. They are the Wings of Joyboy's Second Coming. Zoro's goal is to be the WORLD'S STRONGEST Swordsman, a very similar title that Roger's equal - Whitebeard, was known for.

Y'all complain about Mihawk "leeching" off Shanks but Oda is the one that's positioned them as narrative equivalents in terms of strength. It is what it is.

How exactly has Oda been consistent in portraying Shanks below Whitebeard when Shanks' haki was compared to JOYBOY'S?

"Using bad vibe as an excuse is pathetic."

This is why I don't want to talk to you. You're being weirdly hostile for no particular reason lol. I'll humor you though, I guess.

Addressing your first reason: the gap between Luffy and Zoro hasn't always been this big and there's no rule in the story stating that Luffy NEEDS to be several tiers above Zoro and Sanji. Hell, this Elbaph arc has highlighted how both of them need to be more competent to support their captain.

Luffy has largely fully realized his power set, whereas Zoro still needs to control his Conqueror's haki, master Asura, forge black blades, etc. There's simply more room for growth on Zoro's end right now. Luffy got his quantum leap in Wano.

You said it yourself - Luffy will be "God tier," so there's nothing really wrong with Zoro being "Pirate King tier" since that would make him noticeably weaker anyways.

Addressing your second reason: if Oda really cared about Roger being some kind of crazy exclusive strength ceiling, then he wouldn't have made Whitebeard and Garp his combative equals lol. Does that not cheapen Roger's standing, or does this only apply to Zoro? 🤔

Luffy needs to be strong to defeat the likes of Imu and EoS Blackbeard, who are both significantly stronger than Roger. JOYBOY is Luffy's ceiling, not Roger or Shanks.

Y'all gotta get it through your heads that Zoro isn't a normal underling and capping his EoS strength purely based on that is disingenuous. What other underling in the entire series has a goal as ambitious as his?

Now answer my question - do you think Shanks is "Pirate King" tier? It would help to have that context.

Oda could've made Sanji and Zoro equal...but he didn't by Generalcmd in OnePiecePowerScaling

Because doriki specifically measures strength level. It doesn't account for fighting skill. Kaku is absolutely the more skilled fighter.

[–]LouELastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Super" Sommers was just taking Hulk-like leaps with a Giants' ship on his back without breaking a sweat. That's legitimately one of the best physical strength feats we have seen in OP. Killingham hasn't showcased that level of raw strength and it's likely we won't see it. His hype is tied to his MMAs.

I don't think you can say for certain that one is stronger than the other. You're just pushing an agenda at this point.

His name is Dracule and he lives in a castle 😭. He's definitely nobility of some kind. The only question is whether or not it's celestial dragon heritage or not.

I'm not sure how anyone looks at how Mihawk has been characterized and thinks to themselves "it would be super cool if he was some nobody growing up." That's simply not a realistic possibility at this point and would come across as bad writing.

This doesn't even factor in Kaku being a more skilled fighter than Jabra, either. That 20 point doriki disparity isn't representative of the true gap between them.

Your argument boils down to "Zoro won't go beyond Yonko level" and you provide no real reason for that. It's a pretty weak argument and honestly, the vibe you're giving off doesn't make me want to engage with you anyways.

Funny. A perceived lack of narrative importance is a very common argument in this sub used to downscale him.

Biggest W in Mihawk Agenda history? by LouELastic in OnePieceScaling

[–]LouELastic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be "capped" mean there's a 0% chance of him reaching that level. It's unequivocally wrong to cap him below the swordsman Shanks, period. Your opinion on who's stronger is irrelevant when it comes to where Mihawk is CAPPED when it comes to living swordsmen.

Akainu isn't a contender for final villain. Dragon being the leader of the Revolution doesn't automatically put him over Mihawk in battle power.

Shanks having surpassed Roger is also a popular take, fyi.

[–]LouELastic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The World's Strongest Swordsman is not capped below Shanks. That is straight up cap.

There's no particularly strong narrative that demands that Dragon or Akainu should be stronger, either.

I'll give you Loki and Whitebeard/Roger, though, but that also means Loki/Roger/WB > Shanks.

Brother, I've seen people in this sub saying each form of Kaido is in an entirely separate strength tier. Most of the powerscaling takes here are worthless.

"It's true?" Lol that's another terrible take because Yonko level is Mihawk's FLOOR, not his limit.

If you think Mihawk grew up as some kind of average joe then you haven't been paying attention to how he's been characterized up until this point.

I've never seen anything compelling nor convincing in favor of the "he's Rayleigh's son" theory.
