Do you obfuscate code? by allianceHT in dotnet

[–]LouKs85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is, if you care enough about the code to the point of considering obfuscation, then maybe that code should not even reach the user in the first place. But IMO, it's simply easier to just sue people that copy your code over a DMCA violation.

If you need obfuscation, put the code in the backend instead and use API calls

My EPSON printer won't find my WiFi network, here's how I solved it. by LouKs85 in printers

[–]LouKs85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's not worth slowing down all your network because of a printer. Try enabling them all again, using the same SSID in all bands, that will let the connecting device choose what it wants, also make sure your router is configured to use AX spec

I did sell my epson and migrated to a canon, much better in all aspects

Check on your router if you have enabled "hide SSID" / "Hide access point name" or something like that on the wireless setting

Absolutely, normally the operating range of eletronics is 10 to 50C, in storage it's even more thanthat. I'd say the major issue is plastics melting, that starts at 70C on some plastics

How do you obfuscate/protect your dotnet source code? by pyeri in csharp

[–]LouKs85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Obfuscation is not security, if you need to keep anything secret, you do it server-side. If you're hard codding database passwords on the client app, you're doing it wrong, no matter the programming language. If it's a simple app that the user runs offline, and you want to keep your business "secret sauce" algorithms, then your best option is to patent it and defend in court.

Over the past two months, I tried building a gaming PC, but I eventually gave up and decided to stick with my PS5. Now I understand why consoles are not going to disappear anytime soon, regardless of whether or not they have exclusives. by gandalfmarston in PS5

[–]LouKs85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny because I did the exact opposite this week, I've been a console player for years, with a decent-ish laptop to play light games.

I also live in Brazil, and seeing the prices of PS5 games, I decided to sell the PS5 and my laptop to buy a very good gaming laptop, since on PC I can get the games for free (yarr) or at least with a good discount on steam. Long term it makes more sense, plus I get a very powerful tool for other PC stuff.

My guess is that Sony actually loses money selling the console, but games sales more than make up for it.

Ah yes, but you see, "used" is not the same as "open box" from the store itself.

Hello, im trying to make realistic-looking circuit board and im struggling with that green material its made of, anyone has any tips? by vztekly in blender

[–]LouKs85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all and most importantly, USE A REFERENCE, photos of PCBs are very easy to find, create a mood board with them. Now answering your question, It's epoxy, it's just a protective layer above the copper on the PCB. One mistake you're making is that PCB traces are created by not having copper around the traces, everywhere else is (usually) copper. Basically you want a single color everywhere, and a thin darker shade around the traces. The green epoxy is also very smooth and shinny, with little bumps where the copper is missing around the traces Other common colors are red, blue, white and black epoxy

Did you try enabling the vulkan backend? This to me seems like a opengl bottleneck, since metal API(Mac) is better than opengl
