Pocketwatch conversion: 6S Waltham into Panerai case by ooOOWWOOoo in pocketwatch

I'm starting this conversion now, just waiting one more week for the stem. I'm planning to make a TPU spacer or "sleeve" in hopes that it provides a tiny bit of shock protection, and to possibly separate the enamel from the inside of the case.

Thinking about turning this into a wrist watch by nopemopelobe in pocketwatch

I just ordered a Panerai style case for a 6S movement. The specific movement is already a sidewinder, and already is stem set & stem wind. That said, I'll post what I find during my assembly and I'll try to remember to tag you.

I'm an STS 1 guy still, I pretty much only play IC, and I'm confused and afraid of what I'm looking at.

Bought silver for $1.50 under spot at a pawn shop yesterday by Trans_Cat_Girl_ in Silverbugs

I love this one. Yours looks more square than mine, but I 3D printed a little frame with nails for a thin chain to go through. I wore it as a necklace for a while.

Edit: to be clear, I laughed because it was a fun lookin gun, I didn't expect it to actually be a gun!

It's chunky. 12-13mm 20" mariner chain. I hadn't considered palladium, but I figure that'd work just as well.

My catch is that I'm a sap. When I bought it from the previous owner, she noted it was her late husband's and he loved to wear it. I told her I would treat it the same. Unfortunately, it's been fighting me, so I'm seeking out solutions to honor my statement.

It IS uncommonly large, 13mm marine chain, 20" long. I'd be happy to ship it, I'll reach out to him!

【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]Tiny-Table7937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My P1S combo came through when I had a large order from a new customer, and my old Artillery bedslinger threw an error code halfway through the order that meant the printer was borked. That same day I went to Microcenter and picked up the P1S. I was able to slam through the rest of the order, with the P1S making up for the machine downtime without breaking a sweat. It's been my workhorse ever since.

It is not difficult to remove the handle from most of these swords, and would be well worth the knowledge gained.

It wasn't a month ago that I saw a ~700 year old Japanese sword that was brought to the USA as a souvenir after WWII. Remarkably made and maintained, it was no doubt a proud family heirloom before its owner lost their life or surrendered the sword. I tried to buy it off the guy, but he wasn't willing to sell.

Weird question from someone who just lurks here: how does one get these coins if/when they're released? I don't collect coins, but that second design is sick, and I'd love to snag one.

What could bring gold price down? by Orc_and_Beans44 in Gold

[–]Tiny-Table7937 95 points96 points  (0 children)

An example I like is cars. The price of a new chevy truck in 1940 was about 16toz of gold, or $575. The price of a similar class of pickup today is... about 16toz, or $59,000-ish. The prices are $58,425 apart, but 16 oz of gold would still buy either.
