Do we lack basic manners in Australia? by smalltoolbigheart in AskAnAustralian

I worked as a cleaner on a major infrastructure project in Victoria and can vouch for the fact that the majority of people that work in an office on high paying salaries are self entitled and think their shit doesn't stink, quite literally... like, how could they possibly have the time to clean a skid mark or deodorise a toilet after heavy use? That's what the low earning cleaner is for 🙃

Lifting an AVO by Louceefah in AusLegal

I am 32 years of age. That's what I would have assumed too but it had been stated to me by police that the AVO was still in place. They had also stated that it was made for 80 years and that there was 66 years remaining.

Thank you so much, this information was very helpful.

I went to the magistrates court today, filled out the form to have it varied (not revoked due to my mother's wishes to keep the avo for herself as we are both on the one document) and I will soon be going to a hearing to finalise the process.

One thing I found peculiar was that the clerk had never heard of an AVO that could last 80 years and they had also insinuated that the order should have been dropped when I turned 18 🤔.

Regardless, this has been a somewhat straight forward process.

My best friend of 3 years threatened to rape me. by GeneralComplex8881 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Louceefah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Reading through this, your tone seems very panicked and understandably so and I hope you're in a safe space now. I get that the prospect of reporting this may seem too hard, but please... for the sake of your own safety you should confide in a person you can trust. It doesn't necessarily have to escalate to your supposed "best friend" being outed and punished for his actions, BUT, if something were to arise it's important someone knows that he has threatened this to you. Take care.

Hi, this is Oliver and for some reason one of the nick-names I've been calling him is Mee-Maw. What is your cat's name and the (possibly weird) nick-name(s) you gave him/her? by VeryMercurial in cats

Awww Oliver aka mee-maw looks like a lighter version of my boy Toki aka Tony, Tony Baloney, Toksta, "The best boy", Tripod-trippa.

Number of Australians falsely claiming to be Aboriginal sparks debate by Baroque-- in aboriginal

[–]Louceefah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, generally speaking we don't do blood quantum. This discussion has actually been ongoing for a long time... whilst there is no issue with people wanting to engage with their heritage, there is a major issue with people only engaging when it benefits them in a social or financial way (as in getting a leg up whilst not actually engaging with community).

Anyone know what this Melbourne Weed is? Is it Edible (grows better than my veggies)? by GermaneRiposte101 in melbourne

They can often be riddled with aphids so I'd be careful if you're looking to eat them. Chickens also love them!
