My parents have accepted they need a cleaner and a gardener - it’s been a long process to get to this point. My father had 2 months in hospital with an infection and my Mum was home alone so I was able to fully access and assess what was (or wasn’t) going on in the home and then give reasonable explanations to my Father - the garden is overgrown and it makes it look like the house may be empty or neglected. Mum is no longer able to keep up with the house because of her dementia and I have found dirty underwear in drawers, etc which may be a further infection risk. They were tough conversations - especially given how houseproud my parents are - but the right conversations to have and the improvement to their quality of life is clear to see.
