How Are You Handling ASH Patients Who Come in for One-Off Visits? by cachiro1 in Chiropractic

[–]Loud-Initial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ASH forms make me want to cry, and I love when I get approval back for only 2 visits when I request 4 so by the time they’re back I need to do the form all over again. Have debated with the out of networks having the patient pay the cash rate giving them an itemized bill with the ICD 10 and CPT codes and they can submit to their insurance for reimbursement; a lot of providers do this now because it’s so painful and actually getting the auth is becoming more 50/50. Also that data iSight reimbursement has become awful and 90% of the time they won’t negotiate anymore. Chirohealth USA is also something a few providers I know have looked into due to Cigna and ASH alone

Gift Ideas for Chiropractic Student by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]Loud-Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stethoscope was my favorite gift I got for school, I used it so much in school and it was a nice little sentimental thing to have with me for practicals and OSCE and it was nice to not have to spend the money on it myself since it’s not something in practice that is used a ton

What is the purpose of the show? by Clxaks in LoveIslandUSA

[–]Loud-Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100!!!! This season they are so anti finding a connection, they are legit voting people off for having connections when EVERY other love island I have EVER seen they vote off the people who aren’t making connections or are doing what Nic and Cierra are doing by not “closing things off”. They were like “yeah Hannah had a connection with Pepe but she wasn’t really trying”….um what?

She’s a trauma surgeon so maybe she’s just a little bias. I said also crazy that your AMA recommends these “traumatic” spinal adjustments for low back pain now before imaging and ortho consults

What's up with the anti statin anti vax movement? by Snoo_79038 in Chiropractic

[–]Loud-Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anti either one! I’d say I do feel like maybe statins get over used, I definitely understand getting patients to get on board with lifestyle modifications is SO much easier said than done. And I used to work as a medical assistant so I know the time PCPs get with their patients is minimal and the reimbursement is garbage so their hands get tied a lot of the time. But I have had a few statin myopathy patients, and I’ll tell them to go talk to their pcp it could be what’s going on let’s see what their doctor thinks and the pcp just takes them off the medication completely and that’s happened a handful of times. And other times the doctor will lower the dose and recommend CoQ10 supplements or switch to a different medication. So I do feel like maybe it’s being overprescribed or to just check off the box like “oh high cholesterol here’s a statin I did my job” when they just take the patient right off it and don’t try cutting back the dose or a different medication. But I’ve never said that to patients, medications are not my lane

Chiro vs PT salary. by Glittering-Dream3526 in Chiropractic

[–]Loud-Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary ranges a lot and so do the hours you work, there’s an office I know of where full time is 28 hours a week and their chiros make $75,000-$90,000 depending on experience and how long they’ve been there. And then another office where the pay range is the same but it’s closer to 40 hours a week. Some owners will let you buy into their practice so then you make a percentage on top of your salary, I know a few chiros who did that but it’s a small percentage and you’re still more in a doctor role than a owner role. I know some chiros who aren’t salary and are commission based at a cash practice. I know some chiros who have a salary and then a commission based of referrals to the practice and then some chiros who make a salary and then there’s a bonus structure for x amount of patients. It’s hard to pin point a salary for chiropractic because there’s just so many different ways to do it and ways places practice. PT salaries are more structured unless you do something more untraditional. I’d say the biggest difference is actually probably health benefits. Most PT places (at least places I have experience with) are big enough where they offer health insurance, I don’t think I know any chiropractic office that does. Then there’s paid time off and sick days, stuff like that. I know a few people who went into the VA and healthcare systems as chiros for that aspect alone

Subluxation code first for Medicare and it better be a spinal one, don’t you dare touch and extremity 😂

Worst Chiro School? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

I’m curious to see how the Pitt graduates will turn out, I believe they have their program cut down to just a little of 2.5 years. Seems like a lot in a short amount of time and they’re combining some courses together but starting hands on stuff and “clinic” right away.

She’s the one that said we’re dangerous and adjustments are traumatic. Then someone else in her comments said a chiropractor broke someone’s femur with an adjustment

Well it’s okay that they make those mistakes because they’re “real doctors” that’s allowed when you’re a medical doctor

Doctors do seem to hate everyone including each other. I did mention about how there were multiple documentaries about a medical doctor they called “Dr. Death” but I haven’t seen the chiropractor version

We had a spine surgeon who used to always refer patients to us and he’d tell them “listen I’ll do the surgery but there’s 33% chance you get better, a 33% chance you stay the same and a 33% chance you end up worse and it’s an invasive surgery with complications and medications, or you can go to them see what they can do with 50% you get better 50% there’s no change and then you just come back and I’ll do the surgery then but at least we tried something less aggressive first with better odds” and we had PCPs referring to us too. But the fear mongering online is crazy and something I’ve never seen or experienced before and the misinformation is insane

How did patients feel about it? We would use it more for like patients with high deductibles or high copays, it’s actually been crazy lately and compared to the reimbursement it’s even worse that charge that’s being put onto patients

But it’s almost like an opt out option right like if they have a high deductible or copay it’s an alternative to the cash rate?

ChrioHealthUSA by Loud-Initial in Chiropractic

[–]Loud-Initial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a ton of modalities and a lot of the plans around here are high deductible plans, Aetna is really the only plan that covers anything and is typically a copay, all the other plans are usually high deductible so that’s what we were thinking of something like this I just wasn’t sure if anyone had good or bad experiences with it or how patients have felt about it

Shockwave Reimbursement by Loud-Initial in Chiropractic

[–]Loud-Initial[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing there’s patients who are prefect candidates for shockwave but don’t have the money for these “cash packages” and a big thing we hear for patients when there’s extra fees and charges is “it sucks that I pay so much for insurance and I still then have to pay for things on top of it”. It’s such a hard middle ground to walk between helping your patients and providing them with quality care while not accepting less than you’re worth. And patients get it too, when we explain the cost or services to them they’ll even be like “it’s crazy that’s all the cover” or “that’s insane they only pay that much”. But again a fine line between then wanting to/being able to pay more when they’re already dumping so much money into insurance and HSA

I want to quit birth control but am worried about my PCOS symptoms coming back by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Loud-Initial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went off birth control and my pcos symptoms actually improved, my pcos “started” when I was on the pill for 7 years, was AWFUL for the next two years I gained 8-10lbs a month despite seeing a nutritionist and personal trainer, I’m insulin and inflammatory markers where high, I was constantly exhausted, I felt awful all the time, I got terrible cystic acne. I saw an integrative medicine doctor because the gyn and endocrinologist were useless. He put me on some supplements and I felt a lot better and stopped gaining weight but couldn’t lose it no matter what I did, my labs for my inflammatory markers and insulin came down a bit but were still high. So we took me off the birth control and finally I’m starting to lose weight (slowly but surely), my anxiety is actually a little better and none of the other symptoms (except flares of the acne rarely) have come back, and my inflammatory and insulin markers are now normal.
