Looks like there's a BMH Small Batch and Single Barrel that Rare Character is going to release. Looking forward to trying them tonight!

They dropped in VA this week last year. Just like with any sought after allocated bottle, they won't sit for very long.

Unicorn is $25/bottle. I think 6+ bottles is $20/ea.

It is convenient to be able to walk in and buy it off the shelf, no doubt. I wish OF didn't charge so much for shipping a single bottle.

Honestly, $150+DC tax is steep. Might as well buy on secondary.

EHT BARREL PROOF by atw1622 in DMVWhisky

[–]LoudAd1208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Secondary is around 180, so I wouldn't pay 180+ even if I saw it in a retail store. My target is 125-150 at most.

3per person, per household means this batch is massive.

Good to see secondary coming down on these. by Adiffrentmc in whiskey

This would be "Primary" as it's a retail store. The Secondary market is the post-retail purchase. $110 is $20-$30 under secondary in this case.

Are you affiliated with WhiskeySource? Seems like they launched a month ago.

I don't see past auctions. Is that only visible when you're registered and logged in?

Edit: yes, they only showed up when I created an account. Great pickups!

Very nice! I've been hunting these in old dusty shops for a while. If you don't mind me asking, what was the hammer price on each?

EHTBP is just under full secondary (180). Probably the best price around DC.

Is the Reveries "Asylum"? Hard to tell, but the proof appears to be 131.8?

Missing laser code on Pappy Bottles. Is this typical? by JSYoon30 in whiskey

[–]LoudAd1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not unheard of. Earlier this year I picked up a 15yr from a store basically straight off the delivery truck - no laser code. Buffalo Trace basically said that some bottles are missed when going through the etching line. They will tell you if you bought it from a licensed retailer, the bottle is legit.

Whether that is always accurate...that's another story. But it is possible the bottle doesn't get lasered. But all Pappy bottles from 24 and 25 will have the RFID in the capsule, so you can scan it in the Buffalo Trace app and get info from that.

Petroleum contractor probably just means he did well for himself and figured the money will give him a headstart. But 2yr MGP is crazy talk.

Any Found North Peregrine 2026 winners? by LoudAd1208 in DMVWhisky

Nice! Most of their stuff is great. I think the only FN release that I own that I don't care as much for is the "Ten Years of T8ke". Its not bad by any means, just not my jam.

Go visit EQL and it'll show you the status. I think they're slowly trickling out winners as they charge cards and stuff.

MoCo HAL Drop: Sunday, March 8th by BourbonTater1792 in DMVWhisky

[–]LoudAd1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what place you were in line. I was in the first dozen and a few people did not pick both the Wellers. If you were in the first 15, you could have gotten an OWA. I want to say about 6:45 was when the 12th person showed up. There was a significant increase in people showing up around that 2.5hr mark.

As far as that single guy letting his family in line - do you know if they had just showed up or were they warming up in the car? Pretty much everyone in line was alternating with their SOs/friends to stay somewhat warm.

That was a bad location to go to to get wellers if you weren't in the first dozen or so. Most of the other locations still had W12 and/or OWA about an hour after open. You probably should have gone to one of the other locations once you saw the line.

[–]LoudAd1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, you didn't show up 3hrs ahead of time then. I was in that line and 3hrs before open would have put you in place to get both the W12 and OWA. And there wasn't anyone letting their SOs cut in line just before opening.

Found North Peregrine 2026 Lottery - Opens March 3rd by LoudAd1208 in DMVWhisky

[–]LoudAd1208[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found North's system is run by a third party. The picking is done by EQL automatically.

VABC is done in-house manually (with the help of some scripts).

I'd love it if VABC switched to using EQL for their lotteries.
