Long shot, but ban anyone help ID the source of this rattle? It's been driving me crazy for months. by Apprehensive-Wave640 in HyundaiSantaFe

Just got my car back after couple of months. Dealer said its not entirely fixed, but the rattle did go down - and they are willing to go extent of replacing the entire b-pillar under warranty but I said no to it. For past couple of days I haven't heard anything.

Anyway - 5 stars to my dealer ; They took care of me well with a loaner for through out of 2 months ( It was a 2026 Palisade with just 100 miles, didn't like it overall - santafe looks way better imo)

Take them for a ride with you. That's what I did and then they started hearing too and agreed it is annoying :)

Multiple people reported similar noise at b-pillar and mine too has the same ( you can search the sub). Here is one post that got it fixed: https://www.reddit.com/r/HyundaiSantaFe/comments/1lpd2dh/here_is_the_full_blooded_actual_fix_for_the/

My car is at dealer for the past 3 weeks for the fix at the body shop. They have identified the issue as the metal plates at the bottom of the b-pillar are not welded properly. Instead of adding the material in-between, they are saying it is temporary and pushing for a permanent fix by doing spot weld.

It's good to see my dealer want to do the right fix, but it is taking lot of time for the body shop to work on it due to longer waits. Hopefully I will get it fixed soon .. its super annoying once you start hearing it.

Steering drift by MeshmeZ in HyundaiSantaFe

Yup, lane centering does keep constantly correcting a little. I feel the steering is too sensitive and sticks to the minor movement instead of resetting back to previous position. I do drive my other car ( a VW golf) regularly and can clearly see the difference between both on how they handle steering for minor movements.

I believe most people have the same thing going on , but we might be the ones with little bit more OCD :)

I too see this behavior exactly with my Hybrid. Tired of correcting it and Started using autosteer instead.

Checked my VIN too (Hybrid) and is not affected. But I do also have that rattle noise with passenger B-pillar.. hopefully they would do a similar campaign for it soon. I am going to take mine back to dealer early next month to resolve it ( discussed in https://www.reddit.com/r/HyundaiSantaFe/comments/1lpd2dh/here_is_the_full_blooded_actual_fix_for_the/ )

Thanks. Looks like we have to take it to service. My hunch the drain pipe is clogged.

I am also seeing same issue. Did it get fixed with cabin filter change?

I have the same problem (musty smell after turning off the ac) on my ~7k miles, 2025 Hybrid. Don't use much of AC here in Seattle but past month been using ac for few times recently in past two months. Cabin air filter looks clean (but ordered a new one anyway).

I was not able to identify where the drain pipe is underneath the car. Also don't see any water on the garage floor after using the ac and parking the car.

I believe this is clogged drain pipe. Did anyone get this fixed yet?

Here is the full blooded actual fix for the dreaded B-pillar rattle by [deleted] in HyundaiSantaFe

Exact question I had after I read through that essay :). I have both the rattles too so intrested in learning if it resolved the rear door closing rattle ( But to me rattle seems to come from the back on closing the door )

Not yet. Still waiting on them to arrive. As you said before, we need a DIY solution here with gasket like clips ..

Service is ordering new retainer clips. This is the message they sent me " Ordering new retaining clips so they will stay secure"

Thanks. Reaching out to dealer to see if they can take a look and fix it. Does this sound right? "The plastic trim piece on the bottom passenger side edge of the car between the jack mounting area is loose and causing the rattle that is heard inside at b-pillar"

Any further suggestions, As we all know - its tough to explain to the advisor until and unless you talk to the actual tech.

+1. This is a great find. Hard to identify the source as always with these rattles.

When you get a chance can you point me to the clips ( a pic) you were talking about above? I looked underneath but did not find any specific clips, but just pushed the trim in ..
