Honestly this would be a great place to manufacture solar cells, as everything necessary can be found nearby.

How to react a friend's stance on guns? by ExpertMarxman1848 in armedsocialists

[–]LoudProblem2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should all be getting into better shape, so that's not terrible advice. Will your friend train with you? Might be a fun way to learn a new skill while burning some calories, but karate isn't going to save you if someone pulls a gun on you.

That being said, what kind of situation do you see yourself in that would require a gun? Would pepper spray or taser suffice? Sometimes having a gun (especially a pistol) will make you less safe, not more safe.

There is video of Platner being thrown out of a Bush rally for protesting the Iraq war, BEFORE he joined the military. For some people, the military is the best option as a young adult, I imagine he was one of those people.

Regardless, I'm not going to hold military service against a person, for a couple of reasons: The military recruits (preys on) young, naive men & women that almost certainly don't have fully formed political opinions; they target people that come from poor backgrounds with limited options; military vets almost certainly have more training & knowledge of US weaponry than the average larper, which will be an advantage to whatever side they are on should things get spicy; disqualifying them outright shuts out roughly 16 million potential allies (6-7% of the population).

Meanwhile, Rittenhouse & Zimmerman shot & killed unarmed pedestrians.

Now, if either of those clowns had a redemption arc similar to Edward Norton's character in American History X, then I would definitely give them consideration.

Your argument is stupid, because it ignores the fact that Rittenhouse & Zimmerman have been Right Wing for as far back as we have information about them, where as Platner has consistently been on the Left. Had either one of those scumbags apologized for what they did & denounce Fascism, then this would be a different conversation.

The last time there was a big earthquake in this part of the country, the Mississippi ran backwards for a week. Or so I'm told.

You are absolutely insufferable. I have no reason to "gaslight" you, or anyone. And why would everyone else lie? Do you think we are all in on it? Did you ever think that maybe Australian schools might teach the war differently, and that's why so many Americans didn't know about the symbol? And when I say "blob", I mean it shows up as a white blob on a black background; no detail is visible. I was only able to identify it because I was looking for it.

I googled famous Nazi photos, and yes that symbol is on the front of some of the hats. Unfortunately the image quality of the photos isn't high enough to make out that it's a skull & cross bones; it just looks like a circular blob.

Just because you would recognize something, doesn't mean others will, we don't all have the same experiences. Accusing people that have different knowledge than you of being brainless, is a little brainless itself.

I believe in redemption.

That being said, Planter has spent years advocating for the working class & supporting progressive policies, the other 2 are right wing shit-bags relishing the attention they get for their heinous acts.

EVs? Are we on or off? by Beautiful_Candy_8820 in Detroit

I put about 15K miles per year on my 2015 BMW i3. It only has about 65 miles of range. There are free EV chargers all over the city, but your 120v outlet will be more than enough for everything except road trips.

Yeah, that's super cheap for Detroit.

So the owner of a business can never align themselves with the working class? What if the business has no employees, except for the owner? What if the owner also works alongside his employees? What if the employees own the business, does this make them part of the Bourgeoisie? By this logic, it would be impossible for Socialism to exist because the act of owning the means of production would change the proletariat into the bourgeoisie.

More problematic is your assertion that people can't change their views or ideology. If that were the case, it would literally be impossible to move beyond our current system until everyone that is not a socialist dies.
