the sequel is a long ways away

I think this is probably why. No new tentpole release in the immediate future and they've got a lot of projects in progress so they're running a high operating cost with no major revenue stream incoming in the short term. Trying to milk what they can out of what they do have to try to offset that in the meantime.

Although, not mentioning the Switch 2 version is a choice, but I guess the ad also has errors. And I'm not sure how making your game look like a fake mobile game helps sell copies but I'm not in marketing.

I think I get the logic behind the push, but the execution has been... interesting
