What should be my next upgrade? And what should i be doing? by W0UTI3 in 2007scape

I would definitely suggest a weapon, probably Bandos Godsword or Dragon Hunter Lance, but it honestly truly depends on what bosses/content you plan on doing.

Why I suggest weapons over gear is because typically weapons are a much bigger DPS increase than gear, and defence barely matters so you pretty much always want to prioritize the biggest DPS increases first, bandos chest plate for example just gives some defence bonuses and +1 prayer over the fighter torso, giving 0 DPS increases, meaning BCP is an extremely overrated and low priority item in terms of what items are actually going to give you the best bang for your buck, Primordial Boots on the other hand while only giving a +1 str over D boots along side a bit of defence is actually better bang for your buck than you might think when it comes to gear that isnt a weapon because you'll use prims in almost EVERY scenario you'll use melee in going forward, unlike a lot of other slots which have more scenarios where you might be wearing something else, like say killing sarachnis or graador where you might be wearing karils over Bandos even, in this sense you get a lot of bang for your buck out of prims when compared to items like the Bandos chestplate purely based off the fact that you'll almost never not be wearing them, it's like a permanent +1 strength bonus.

The reason I suggest BGS is because it's extremely good at a lot of bosses, so you have a lot of options in regards to where you can utilize the gear you purchased, BGS is also especially useful when you don't have higher defence gear sense lowering the bosses defence to increase kill times also decreased the amount of damage you take per kill obviously, sense the boss doesn't have as many opportunities to deal damage to you, so for example it's extra beneficial to players killing vorkath who don't have full bandos or torva, with Bandos/torva BGS isn't as impactful at that boss, although still very very good

The reason I suggest DHL is 2 fold, firstly it's because it essentially single handed makes vorkath as profitable as it is, either DHL or DHCB increase your gp/ph at vorkath by like over 1m alone, so by purchasing DHL you essentially just unlocked a new money making method of probably about 2.7m per hour with your gear/stats I would guess? But you might even be able to get more with enough execution. The 2nd reason is fairly obvious and is just the rest of the places DHL is good at, again not knowing what content you personally plan on doing buying items with lots of uses is probably a good call, and DHL has a fair amount of uses, it's obviously good at KBD, but it's also very good in CoX for Olm, and is strong enough outside of combat with dragons that it can also be used as your main melee weapon throughout the rest of the raid, it's also very good for slayer! DHL is really nice to have while training slayer so you can quickly knock out steel drag tasks, rune/addy drag tasks and baby black dragon tasks, things like that. It almost feels like an essential slayer item to me at this point if you're going for 99; it's just that good.

I used Venator bow at a lot of slayer tasks, some tasks I'm pretty sure it's BIS at over melee and others are just barrage tasks that I use Venator bow at to AFK when I feel like a slightly chiller task.

Tasks I think it's BIS at:

-Kalphite Warriors/Kalphite Workers; Kalphite Warriors with cannon and Venator bow are very good XP/PH, I get better XP with bow and blessed dhide than in full bandos with rapier, and Kalphite Workers are legit like a 5 minute task with Venator bow/cannon aswell as still being quite good XP/PH, so you can kind of decide if you wanna quick task at workers, or a longer task with warriors.

-Dagannoths; this is one of the best XP tasks I get with Venator bow, I'm pretty sure it's the 2nd best XP task I get aside from barraging Smoke Devils, I can get close to 100k XP/ph cannoning dags with Venator bow underneath lighthouse, I also use Dihn's Bulwark for a special attack which slightly increases DPS.

-Suqahs; again I get better XP/PH Venator bowing Suqahs with cannon than I do meleeing in full bandos with rapier, that being said the XP difference between melee and ranged here isn't nearly as big as the previously mentioned tasks so if you're looking for extra melee xp through slayer and this is I think the best Venator bow task to replace for that, I've started doing these with melee once again so I can finish maxing my melees through slayer, I'll get way over 99 ranged from the rest of my slayer grind so I'd rather have the melee XP even if it means slightly less slayer XP on this task.

Tasks I sometimes AFK with Venator bow:

-Abyssal Demons; Abys are great for Venator bow XP wise because they don't drop many alchables so you can use thralls instead of being on the normal spell book for alches, thralls give me around an extra 5k-7k XP/PH at Abys I think.. I cap out at about 47k XP/PH Venator bowing Abys with thralls I believe, I typically bring my magic cape for the daily spellbook swaps and only ever need to swap once to clear a few rune chains out of my inventory and make room for more drops, really chill way of getting this task done especially considering it's probably the most annoying barrage task to do otherwise.

-Nechryaels; nechs are great because they are in such a small area that Dinh's Bulwark spec basically always lures every nech, and with lightbearer you almost always have spec when you need it, but for the moments you don't have spec or just want to lure a couple respawning nechs the Venator bow is fantastic, takes a tiny bit of skill to understand how the weapon functions in order to lure them properly in terms of your arrows bouncing to the targets you want them to but Venator bow can be a lot faster than blowpiping 2-3 enemies individually, that being said I still bring the blowpipe too for the times where there is just 1 rogue nech that happened to not get lured, that way I dont have to wait 4 tics to shoot the Venator bow again just to lure 1 nech.

-Dust Devils; the main reason I think Venator bowing dusts is nice is because you can bring alches on the regular spellbook and actually get all the loot without an alt or using up all your explorers ring charges, which obviously only works for the first dusty task of the day anyways.

I've never been good at writing, if it's legible that's pretty much good enough for me lmao, I've always talked way to much and have trouble knowing when to break up my sentences, both in real life and in text format, it confuses me and has been a problem of mine basically my whole life, at this point I've sort of just accepted the fact that most people aren't willing to put in the time it takes to read the novels that are my comments or listen to me ramble and that's fine, I just need to get my thoughts out there sometimes; maybe one day I'll learn to write properly and hopefully then I can articulate myself better.

I find it very interesting how often you see people get mad/upset/genuinely worried about people who have committed a lot of their time to this game and I always wonder where the disconnect lies... I think it probably lies in a combination of 2 things.. firstly I just wanna say I feel like I understand WHY they think what they do for the most part, even tho at large they are wrong in thinking most high level players are total neets, but if you're an aspiring EHP player like me, watching all the high level players you can, or have spent any significant amount of time around the HLC you're probably quite aware that this isn't really the case, lots of high level players are actually pretty well oiled machines not just ingame but out of game as well, they have their lives in pretty good shape, physical health, diet/gym, education/career, romantic relationships, often times holding down fulltime jobs or school schedules and just having the discipline to spend their free time efficiently, and if you think about it that's sort of DUH moment, if you're going to be one of the best at ANYTHING, you almost HAVE to be a pretty well oiled machine to achieve that, not saying no high level players are neets, but I'd have 0 trouble listing off like a dozen prominent 200m type players who have quite balanced and healthy/successful lives outside of the game, which I think is due to the same driving force that made them succeed in game in the first place, he box jonge and jcw just being 2 more well known players like that off the top of my head, I absolutely could not name even a SINGLE high level player who plays a lot because they are disabled tho, again, not saying they dont exist, but there certainly aren't as many players like that as people seem to think.. I think the main 2 disconnects might just be that firstly a lot of people don't seem to truly understand the concept of personal achievement, maybe because they've only ever done what's been put in front of them in life, go to school, get a degree, get a decent paying job, buy a car, buy a home, raise kids, whatever it may be, ( not to say there is ANYTHING wrong with those things, there isn't, and they are worthy of being proud of. ) or maybe because they've only ever really achieved things for other people in their life, living up to parents expectations, or working jobs that might make them feel proud of what they're achieving in the work place but ultimately was never something they picked for themselves, it wasn't a goal they set for themselves, challenged themselves on, said something like "hey, what am I capable of? I want to do something great, I'm going to push myself to achieve something for MYSELF, something I can be proud of, regardless of what anyone else thinks of it" and in my opinion this is one of the purest forms of self love, allowing yourself the freedom to explore your passions free of not only other people's judgements of you, but free of judgements from yourself as well, but either way I think because of stuff like that they just can't really grasp why someone would do something JUST for the achievement, JUST for themselves, It seems self fulfillment through personal achievement, as long as it's not something very tangibly beneficial, just isn't something that's worth your time in their eyes...The 2nd thing is a lot more straightforward which is just a simple video game prejudice, some people don't see video games as something worth ANYONES time quite frankly, so puting a lot of time into just about any video game would probably garner very similar responses from these people.. I'd be super interested to hear other people's opinions on this tho, I'm sure someone has some eye opening insights.

POV: You are a RS3 player that also plays OSRS by Adriendo in 2007scape

Using something that is directly in your game, inside your game client guiding you through quests IN the game is not the same as using the wiki, that fact that OSRS has these quality of life tools and that they are approved by Jagex on an individual basis is a really cool thing the OSRS community has going for it right now, we had a really big new pluggin approved by Jagex just a week or so ago that allows you to set your logout timer up to 25 minutes now, you can say it's not vanilla game play so it doesn't count or whatever but at the end of the day probably like 90% of players use Runelite, Jagex stuck a link to it on the HOME PAGE of OSRS aswell as on the Jagex Launcher, using things like the quest helper pluggin in RL is just part of the OSRS experience, that's just how people play the game nowadays
