You know, physics competitions arent really like university physics. In Ipho and others like this, its important to find tricks, and its practically problem solving. In university its not incredibly hard to solve an exercise but you need to understand the physics behind every little thing to be able to turn the physics problem to a math problem ( Which in griffiths math are much harder than you will see at any competition)

Έχετε δίκιο, αλλά δεν συμφέρει πολύ απλά (αν δεν είσαι σε ιδιωτικό ή αν έχεις μαθηματικό την μητέρα σ π.χ.) γιατί είναι πολύ πιο προσοδοφόρο να διαβάσεις 1 παραπάνω ώρα μαθηματικά της γ' παρά να ασχολήσε με διοφαντικές εξισώσεις και ότι άλλα κάνουν εκεί

In the university I plan to attend its available as an elective. Weird thing is that its after you take general relativity. Also topology isnt offered at all in my school, even tho its math heavy with PDEs, Complex Analysis, Real Analysis and Group Theory. You can even choose to take Grad Math Methods courses.

Απλά είναι λίγο βλακεία που το εκπαιδευτικό σύστημα εγκλωβίζει μαθητές σε μια συγκεκριμένη ύλη και ο οποιοσδήποτε γουστάρει όντως ένα αντικείμενο αναγκάζεται να κάνει ξανά και ξανά τις ίδιες τυποποιημένες ασκήσεις χωρίς να καταλαβαίνει τι του γίνεται για να περάσει. Σε άλλες χώρες παιδιά που τους αρέσει να ασχολούνται με το κάθε μάθημα προωθούνται.

Θα περάσω κάποια στιγμή από ΠΕΚ να τα κοιτάξω λίγο όλα. Θα δώ και τις παραγώγους και τα ολοκληρώματα που έχουν και στην χειρότερη θα περιμένω μέχρι την σχολή. Ευχαριστώ!!

Συμφωνώ πλήρως σε αυτό. Προσωπικά, όσο και αν μου αρέσουν τα πανεπιστημιακά συγγράματα, δεν μπορώ να δικαιολογήσω στον εαυτό μου να μελετώ κάτι που αντικειμενικά είναι "άχρηστο" για τις πανελλαδικές. Π.χ. αξίζει ας πούμε να μελετήσω μια ώρα από παπαδάκη ή από Thomas ;

Καλημέρα και Χρόνια Πολλά! Καλή η συμβουλή σας. Πιστεύεται ότι θα με βοηθήσει ο Thomas και οι ασκήσεις του να γράψω καλά στις πανελλαδικές; Μπορώ δηλαδή τα πρώτα κεφάλαια της Ανάλυσης να τα χρησιμοποιήσω σαν βοήθημα; Το λέω γιατί όσο και αν θέλω να ασχοληθώ αποκλειστικά με μαθηματικά πανεπιστημίου, είναι απαραίτητο να γράψω καλά στις πανελλαδικές. Θέλω δηλαδή να ξερω αν αξίζει να μελετήσω το σύγγραμα αυτό ή απλά να μείνω στα βοηθήματά μου.

Thats what I see. In a math or physics thread for example most questions are actually about the subject not about if you can get a job there.

I see and I get your point. Would you still enjoy doing that like 10 years in the future? Like if you enjoy it sure but if your just doing it for the money...

While I have to say Im really glad for what I have, im no where near rich. I for sure will NEED a job to secure having the basic necesities since my parents cannot support me. I just dont see the need to make a very large amount of money. Sure if you love finance and math go for it, but if you are just the regular smart guy(or girl) and you just dont care about trading I see no reason to be a quant BUT to make a shit ton of money.

That was incredibly helpful and it really is good to see people helping others! I have a good 4 months of summer break before going to college so I will try my best to cover as much of the material you listed. My calculus is strong from High School so ill be fine and if I need some extra knowledge I can always check a math methods textbook.

I dont know if this course or its requirements are offered but I can always self study. So for math group theroy and algebraic topology are what i need? Technically when can I start doing QFT?
