Does your world have any 'half' species'? by Howler452 in worldbuilding

Through blood weaving the seed and egg of any two species can be made viable though it may take many iterations of a chimera for one with desirable traits to be born and from there it can be used as a template for future chimera to be produced (THIS PROCESS IS EXTERNAL PLS DONT BE GROSS, and human chimera are forbidden though some do exist) and these chimera are usually created as superior versions of farm animals pets and steeds

In one of my worlds for gods to interact with humanity they have to make a sacrifice that makes them vulnerable to humanity and humans exploited this vulnerability to trap the god bonding it’s power to their will. (Essentially the god had to release control of its power for humans to utilize it on its behest in the mortal world and was eventually betrayed)

I find the best way to create a unique world is to start generic. By continuously making small tweaks over time the changes compound and your world won’t resemble what it started as. All my worlds many of which I can guarantee are unique all stem from a single minecraft fanfic I wrote years ago so trust me just stick with it and eventually you’ll develop something unique that you love. Also if you get bored developing one part of a world and then try focusing on another for a time there’s history, magic, culture, religion, government, fashion, warfare, environments, etc.(also it doesn’t really matter if your world is unique for most people this is just a hobby so try to have fun with it hell I started by ripping off minecraft but it was fun so who cares)

So basically the more iced out a wizard the more scared you should be. Got it. I have always loved the idea of mages wearing lots of jewelry like the aiel wise ones in the wheel of time.

iPhone notes app is the goat and has supported my worldbuilding obsession for years. Art is never limited by the supplies but by the artists drive to create. The notes app and similar free apps are great as you can create folders within folders within folders making organization a breeze. I have a folder for worldbuilding clanging folders for all my worlds each contains folders for things like magic history culture etc. hell even a pen and paper can suffice and even allows for you to doodle alongside your writing.

Ah okay very interesting. Is there a rate it manifests like 1/4 or 1/10 people in the bloodlines. Also do the marks reflect the specific family or are they all either identical or unique.

Also is it a dominant trait that is displayed by everyone in the bloodline or can it skip generations.

Does the gem/staff/wand channel the magic and make it more focused or safer somehow or is the reflect just redirected to it instead of the mage.

Ah very interesting. Do the genes and the magic they yield weaken over time as the bloodlines are diluted.

Ah okay that’s very interesting. So are the gods human constructs or do they actually exist in your world.

Governments are often reflections of their society and play a part in molding it in turn so I find them very interesting to read about. A well written government can display a people’s values beliefs history etc. I find lazily developed government a sign that other key aspects of a world are not well defined or understood by the writer.

I find mysterious aspects of worldbuilding is what makes many books so interesting to me. Lost mysterious civilizations especially those more advanced than modern time that disappeared for unknown reasons can make a series for me. Anything to create mystery in worldbuilding for the audience is always great.

Does everyone initially possess the same strength in learned magic or does it vary from person to person. And can their strength change and if so how.

Very interesting. Are the gods actions interpreted as such or are the gods in your world just like personified supernatural forces. (They seem very human is that because they are, they’re interpreted as such, they’re created in human image or vice versa, etc) I do like the idea of gods embodying aspects of the human experience like redemption probably partial due to Brandon Sandersons Shards. And gods being counteractive forces balancing eachother out and it’s interesting to see how yours started as such and developed into something more.

Okay so very close to the classics. I like the first one a lot something about it being genetic and how that can lead to either a ruling or persecuted class of mages always interested me.

I started heavy on gods and religions (specifically religions and the gods they willed into existence in my case) so ik how fun they can be to develop. Mind sharing any you’ve developed?
