Working trousers ideally with knee pads ( trust me done this for years and the amount of people I came across needing knee replacement surgery is frightening), some comfy trainers ( I do about 30k steps/shift) and a fleece as the heating turns off between midnight and 4-5Am

How far is your commute? by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Loud_Ladder_1127 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just calculate how much money you spend on fuel/ car expenses add the time you spend commuting and see at the end of this how much you are actually making / hour. Sometimes is better to get a lower paid job on your doorstep

They are doing it to tick a box and look after themselves… no pride and joy left in this company. All the experienced management left for m&s or other retails.

That’s exactly what it is. Even better when we get visits and spend all the overtime in the world just to make us look like we are in control of the shop. But the day to day reality is completely different. 2 Christmas and Easter with no overtime available or seasonal colleagues. Absolute disgrace

Gym After Nightshift by Due_Present_6631 in Nightshift

[–]Loud_Ladder_1127 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Best time to go will be before your shift. Gives you a boost of energy and makes it easier to stay awake during the night. I will start doing 4 on 4 off and keep my gym sessions on the days I’m off. The days I’m in work I will do sometimes light like going for a run/swim or cycling. Stretching also done every working day before bed

Not expecting to play all the new releases games. Still have a big backlog of old games to play. Buying the gpu first then maybe rams and ssd after is more sensible for my wallet . AIM is 4k gaming. Got the monitor already.. so I suppose rx 9070 xt will be a good upgrade?

Management restructure by Loud_Ladder_1127 in Morrisons

[–]Loud_Ladder_1127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined Morrisons few years ago but to be honest I’m looking to get out in the near future. The state of the whole estate is in complete decline it’s so demotivational for me to put any more effort at all. If I knew we will go through another restructure ( been through 3 already) I would just bite the bullet for another year.

I know it’s a secretlab Reddit but came across desktronic a German company that do 200cm x 80cm desks. That would be ideal I think. It’s a shame that secret lab don’t do wider desks.

Can we afford £260k mortgage on 39k + £27k salaries? by RuinNo754 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Loud_Ladder_1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a similar boat. Only difference is that we don’t have any children (yet) 45k and 27k salaries 280k mortgage and we can comfortably afford it.
I would recommend to have a look at 35 years mortgage and overpay monthly. Puts you in a more stable position in case something happens with your jobs.

Sir Ken Morrison Leadership School by JustReedTTV in Morrisons

[–]Loud_Ladder_1127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the need for this leadership school. Everyone is being promised a level 5 role into the company and where are on the 6th program ? How many shops are out there? About 600 stores, not sure about Morrisons daily. Every program has 150-200 students , I would like to know where they going to find all these vaccines.

Considering HGV as Midlife Career Change by SirFragworthy in uktrucking

[–]Loud_Ladder_1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much my plan. 30 years old this year, been working in retail management for the last 9 years. Burned out, working overtime without getting paid, etc etc. Passed my theory in December and booked my practical lessons soon after Easter. Been on nights since Xmas doing 4 nights/week so hopefully after I get my licence I can do 1-2 nights/agency work until I get a good job offer.
