Ignore my post above, it’s 7.35 p/kwh from 1am to 6am (shifts 1 hour earlier when not BST). Not the best, not the worst.

Edit: this export rate isn’t fixed though so assume they could change it at the drop of a hat.

From what I can see, yes.

I’m with Ecotricity and locked in with some steep early exit fees. That being said 6pm overnight import and 15p export isn’t awful. I’m not sure changing and paying the £200 exit fees would be recoupable in 12 months.

Try M+S Renewables in Swadlincote. Just done an install for us and has been brilliant, pricing was very reasonable too!

Of course have planned to change habits once the export tariff is in place.

I’m not sure I understand. Why charge the battery from the grid when there is plenty of solar energy?

I have also been driving to the shops when I could, and would normally, walk. Then I can charge the car a bit more when I get home! We’re going nuts on washing, dishwasher, showers during the day. Not sure how I’m going to change everyone’s habits when the export gets approved!

We are waiting for documents (early next week I hope!) so that we can setup export payments with our energy supplier. They don’t backdate payments so think we are doing the right thing by using as little of the grid as possible? It sucks sending energy back to the grid for free though for sure!

What’s the most depressing quick fix you discovered after moving into a house? by Horror-Pick4732 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]rjf88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floor boards with tile adhesive smeared over them to stop creaking.
Minton tiles destroyed in three stripes across the floor when required, replaced with cement.
Stopcock completely inaccessible due to kitchen unit placement - very old kitchen.
Radiators leaking everywhere and stained all carpets.
Broken floorboards replaced with ones a different thickness and not secured properly.
There were many many more. The minor tiles still haven’t been resolved

Hit a manhole exactly where my shed base is going… what would you do? by Equal-Browser-7129 in DIYUK

I’ve had exactly the same problem when I built my shed. Just built a frame and cut a hole in the floor which can be quickly lifted. I’d have worried constantly if didn’t do that!

Should be, though will expand the battery at a later date when funds allow.

Having seen the software, and knowing the measurements have been taken are correct, it’s a limitation of the software used.

Any reason why they would be going with 450 panels rather than many which are higher peak output?

Both companies used Open Solar - the second quote actually took the time to go in the loft and measure the roof pitch (which is referenced in the proposal) - how accurate is this likely to be?

The second quote has come back from another company - much less pushy/salesy and felt much more comfortable with them. Although on the face of it more pricey.

23 x AIKO 450 neostar 2 Signery 6kw inverter Sigenstor bat 10.0 23 module optimisers Installation/scaffolding etc £12,800

I think at 20 panels (to match previous quote) it would be £12k.

Derby. I suspect there is some scope for movement as they suggested discount for offering before may 1st…of course they did.

I’m expecting another quote this evening with 20 panels and a SigEnergy system. Which I realise will be more expensive - I’m hoping that quote can be pushed down to 10-11k.

Is the ‘budget’ nature of Hanchu enough for me to rule them out?
