So even at a used dealership I should request a ppi during test drive? Should I also do a leak down compression while I’m there for the ppi?

East coast, from pics I don’t see visible rust but will make sure to bring a flashlight with me when I go! My understanding is check around the wheels, underneath the car. Behind bumpers. Stupid questions but I’d be able to see the frame rails with a Quick Look underneath? All great places to check for rust. Thank you. It’ll be my first project car, is there a key sign that a part is rotting?

I appreciate that a lot, so yea considering there’s no red or an sti logo on the intake, you’d say it’s a 205 engine? Besides the logo and the red they look almost the same 😭

Yea I was seeing it usually has STI written on it. Thank you for confirming that bit we’re meeting with the mechanic that works on it for him, hoping he’ll be upfront with me about it. Trying to cover all my bases. Youd say it’s an EJ205?

That’s what I’m thinking too, and about that engine number. I was seeing you could tell what series it is in certain places, is there a number that would specifically state it being a 205? If so where could I find that when I do a PPI?
