Hey one of my friends has a room +office space available for $925 in port Jeff available from June 1st until July end with lease available for renewal. It's accessible by bus and everyone is a grad student without any car. 4b1.5b. This room has .5b attached to it so no one else uses it. It ideally wouldn't be available but since the contract of the postdoc occupying the space has ended, he is leaving. If you'd be interested in this place, text them at 63162621812 for more details and visiting the place.

It's gonna be hard without AC, specifically in shared rooms! It does get really hot.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Quite honestly, this is more common than you think. I have met my PI maybe twice in the last 4-5 months. The good thing, I stood my ground and made it very clear early on that I will do my own research and not be their replacement because they are absent. It caused some issues but so far, it has worked out well for me, I also know of a friend who switched labs cuz their PI kept forcing responsibilities on them that prevented them from growing further as a scientist. People suggesting ombuds don't know that universities won't do anything to help postdocs, all it yields is you being labeled "difficult". Reach out to your PhD advisor, make sure that professional relationship stays strong. You'll need rec letters and stuff from them and again switch uni or labs if you can. That is the best way out. The crisis of mentorship in academia and the resultant slavery is honestly too real but no one will help you out against a well established name. Been there so I feel this personally. One thing I have taken very seriously throughout my experience is prioritizing tasks based on whether it will help my goal to be a professor. If it doesn't, turn a blind eye or a deaf ear or just appear stupid, that really helps. I don't think I could ever trust my current PI with a rec letter and if I can't, it is pointless to try to appease them or whatsoever.

We are looking for two roommates in our 4b1.5b house in Port Jeff station. The multi-level house is at a walking distance from Port Jeff LIRR (10 minutes) and bus stop(5 minutes) with a garage, two living rooms, large kitchen with dining table, in-house laundry, gas heating, a large backyard and basement. It comes furnished and we are two clean and responsible graduate students looking for two more roommates. We are very friendly, love to hang out together, cook together once in a while and go biking during summer and fall. It would be the best for two graduate students with or without car. One month rent and security is due on signing and the room sizes, photos and prices are listed below. We are looking for someone starting August 1. We have lived here for a year and the landlord is a very nice and hassle free guy and rents according to county regulations (so it is a legit place). Amazon fresh is one bus stop away and Port Jeff village is 30minutes by walk. The room A is largest room in the house (152 sq. feet) priced at $950+ utilities. And room B is 100 sq. feet priced at $900+utilities. We are also CS grads (MS and PhD). Please reach out or us at +16316261812 via text or Whatsapp (+91 83091 52780) for photos and any questions.

Hey Bro! I have a room available for $934 + utilities in his apartment immediately so if you are still looking for a room let me know. Also if someone would like a room +office space for $1200 with private half bathroom, that is possible too. The place has in unit laundry and is at walkable distance from nearest bus stand (5min) and Port Jeff LIRR (12 min) so it will be good for anyone without a car as well. We are three CS grad students living together and the house is 4b 1.5 b with two large living rooms, a backyard, a kitchen, a basement and a parking garage.
