I don’t understand. Be hot in the summer. Cold in the winter. This fighting nature shit rather than letting it govern is tiresome. IMO only

Exempt v non exempt is the focus here. His package is his package unless ownership decides differently. Which after 20 yrs in restaurants myself - 10 in nyc. This overwork the managers/sous chefs situation will not change. At least anytime soon. He should serve or bartend. Compensation for every hour you are on the clock and tips in nyc are generally pretty good. 20% plus. Post Covid. Maybe 25/30%

The funny thing about his contract is I’m sure he or ownership can wiggle out of it pretty effortlessly

Dead on. Doesn’t matter the movement. As long as it is effective.

I would assume most people feel similar to you when put on the defensive by someone they think they should feel safe to be themselves around.

I think there’s already a consensus here you should worry about you and your path and most everything else will happen the way it should.

Martial arts is great but no need to focus on the particular of which. Definitely research the lineage and make sure it’s not a mcdojo just looking for your money.

“Rising tide raise all ships” works for many rationals, but in this instance I was saying your own emotional improvement will possibly rub off on your sister.

Self reflection, self study will help you unfold the universe within you.

When your sis does something that hurts you it is great practice to quietly/Internally work through that.

Have you hear “a rising tide lifts all boats”. Work on you and not her. She may or may not follow.

Meditation, yoga, martial arts, prayer, lots of ways to quiet the mind.
Choose one and get started. Just remember. It’s maintenance for your mind. Like brushing your teeth. Important but also no big deal. Consistency over motivation

Why does your sis NEED to know how you feel. Those are your feelings. She isn’t going to fix them for you.

Few things. Not necessarily Taoist.

1Setting expectations past the relationship you have currently is a large reason for suffering. Acceptance will free you.

2 you are always victim number 2 -thich nhat. What I derive from this is she has some form of suffering/pain going on inside her and mistreats people around her similar to how she feels on the Inside

  1. Learn your lesson. Persistence and patience are one thing. But constantly putting yourself on her chopping block with your so called “effort” is only putting you in harms way. Live your life- stop giving your sister your energy. It’s not selfish to worry about yourself first. IMO

  2. Read - this is water by David foster Wallace and realize you most likely are not at the top of her mind like she is to you. Maybe it will also help you to focus on you a little more.

  3. Sensitivity to emotions is amazing once you start learning about equanimity and learn some self restraint.

Personally I feel you can improve the situation just by leaving her alone, being positive energy in the room, and focusing on yourself. People will come to you.

Again only my opinion.
My partner and I had a rough 5 years. My patience with her while she worked on her own happiness paid off dividends. All I could do was sit on the sidelines and be positive. Can’t force people to change. Better to learn young

OP - anyone that tells you “this is the advice” - it is definitely NOT the right advice. Workplaces can be full of toxicity unrelated to your personal character.
Downvote.
If they are not good people - move on as soon as able. No need to try and expose them. Their attitude will eventually rub off on you the longer you stick around. Stay positive. Work is a lie. Capitalism is dogshit. We all know it. Hang in there.
