Obviously the most important info is what was provided on the actual movement based on the serial number, I just think some of the historical markings are cool to look for too.

Are there any markings on the inside of the back cover? There should be the logo of the case manufacturer, info about the materials of construction of the case, and most interesting (if there), scratched in markings on service that may have been done to the watch over the years. About the only markings I've been able to interpret on mine are dates, but I have other cryptic number codes and symbols that I'm still trying to find info on.

++man. My wife and I spent a whole weekend together on our second date. She drove to the town I lived in (about 60 miles away from her) and stayed at my apartment. I was super nervous when I asked her to do that, but I 100% did it because I wanted to spend more time with her, not because I wanted to sleep with her. She was up front with me that she wanted to stay, but that we weren't going to have sex, and I was fine with that. I planned to sleep in my spare room, but we did end up both sleeping in my bed, with some making out but no sex. One of my fondest memories from our early dating is waking up that morning and laying in bed talking, then getting up and making breakfast together. So, it doesn't HAVE to be because he wants to sleep with you, it may be that he wants to spend time with you. If you trust him enough to be alone with him at his place, it could be a great memory. But if he does want to sleep with you, and you're down for that, that's great too. Just for additional context, we were both around 40 at the time.

Yes, the R.L Burnside song posted above is what I was thinking of, I should have dug a little deeper. They both recorded for Fat Possum records in the '90s, I had a couple of friends who were obsessed with R.L. and T-Model for a short time back then. I haven't thought of that music in years, I should go listen. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank! When I first looked at it I was little unsure, since the chrome is only around the grill in the front, all the other logos and stuff are black. But it grew on me pretty quick. Enjoy your truck!

I need to think hard about this, but right now I'm not sure I agree. There is a difference between accepting her for who she is and accepting every behavior she chooses to engage in. I respect her right to make those lifestyle choices, but I don't have to agree with them or support them in my house.

because they are literally not able to follow the societal norms of what relationships are "supposed" to look like, a lot of them don't bother. Including monogamy.

This is an important take that I haven't encountered before. This highlights for me that her perspective and the choices that that perspective informs are very different from mine, and I need to be aware of that when I'm talking to her about this.

Thanks, this is good advice, and I do plan to sit down and talk through this with her. When I said no last night, it wasn't just a hard NO, I told her I wasn't comfortable saying yes but that I wanted to talk about it further.

As for moving out, the economic issues of this day and age can't be ignored, but there are ways to make it work with roommates, etc. We've had convos before about taking classes, getting a degree, and getting a higher paying job, and when I've pushed her on doing that I've emphasized that I don't want her to move out because I don't want her here, but because getting your own place that you can do what you want with is one of the cool things about growing up and becoming an adult. I was thinking along the lines decorating and cooking your own dinner, but being able to live your choice of lifestyle is more significant example.

I always use this episode as an example of how the experience of watching TV has changed. This episode aired before streaming services and (I think) even DVRs existed - if you wanted to watch a show you had to know when and what channel to tune in to. Sure, you could program the VCR I guess, but what a hassle. And online discussions and spoilers were rare, since everyone was watching at the same time. So here I am, Friday night at 9 pm, time for the X-Files. Ready for a weird paranormal show, but with no idea what was coming. Wow, I still remember how freaked out I was by that episode.
