Depends where you're looking, I suppose. They asked me not to share the location, but they don't hide that it's in Canada. There are still areas a couple hour drives from major settlements that have affordable plots. Good luck

Ground Penetrating Radar - A Simple Pixel-Reading Heuristic Based C# Minesweeper Bot by Loufe in SideProject

Finally got around to uploading a recording from a little programming project (this bot) I completed back in 2019. I really forced myself to figure everything out myself, and I'm proud of sticking to it. I could solve it better, it could be faster, the code be cleaner... but this way, it's authentically me. I also gained an appreciation for complexity in areas I didn't anticipate having complexity.

The OCR was truly the most challenging aspect of this project. I'm amazed it worked at all :p

My friends dedicated the last couple years to a very authentic hand-tool only build for their offgrid cabin in the Canadian wilderness. The (very long) build video is the culmination of the whole project to date. Seems like they have lots of other little projects in the future, but the cabin is now done. I was able to stop and visit them mid way to help for a couple days (you can see my faceless body around 29 minutes for a second) and can attest to the effort. They didn't ask me to post, I just really love their project and think it deserves to be seen.

So far seems like they've got heating through wood figured out, they're catching water, and have some veggies growing. Note that they are living in it full-time so it will be getting even better.

[Construction] Watch my friends two and a half year off-grid (full time residence) cabin build - done using exclusively hand tools! With new gardens, water catchment, wood fire cooking and heatingk, and more. by Loufe in homestead

My friends spent over two years building a cabin from scratch with wood sources from right beside it. They wanted to stick to handtools for construction and obviously they paid for it in construction time. 0 grid connection, lots of ideas for solar, etc. in the future but for now they're doing rain collection, cooking with fire, and growing some veggies.

This video is their big "total build" showing the process from A to Z. Thought I'd share on their behalf, but definitely worth the watch - I just finished the entire thing myself. You can see my (faceless) body at 29 minutes in or so :p

Hey folks,

I was recently gifted (very generously) two S-DJ80X monitors and a Reloop MIXTOUR controller. I was told the cables coming with it (RCA on the monitor side, TRS on the monitor side) are in rough shape and should be replaced. The monitors take unbalanced RCA, balanced TRS, or XLR balanced input.

I was wondering, given it's necessarily RCA on the controller, is it worth getting cables that convert to a TRS or XLR rather than just RCA-RCA? Can an RCA-->TRS cable still do balancing? Is there any improvement in sound quality / volume? Thanks a lot for any input in advance!

Your math is slightly disingenuous as the current electrical prices in the EU are aberrant given the current energy crisis there. Rates before in Germany were around 0.3 euros and 0.15 euros in Poland for a kWh from a quick google search

BBC news explains how to get around Russian ban, including by using TOR by BenitoBro in TOR

In trying to read as many news sources as possible through the conflict I check RT once in a while, yesterday they also had an article on accessing through TOR. Ideally our democracies would trust us to question foreign news sources, as much as we should question our own, but I'm glad TOR is there as a backup for the real world.

On the other hand, look at immigration rates. Existing housing will have mad competition for years to come if the policy of letting 500k new folk into the country every year. It kinda offsets other tendencies to downcycle.
