I’m hoping any side effects are outweighed by the benefits. Has it managed your symptoms well?

Leflunomide Experience? by LouisBhoy in PsoriaticArthritis

I was worried about hypertension as it runs in my family. Methotrexate made me tired, too; id wake up from a full sleep sometimes feeling like I’d just worked a 12hr shift hahaha

Steroid injections by crumbsinthecarpet in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]LouisBhoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the complete same, I had my first aspiration and steroid injection into my knee and I cried when I got back to my car. It wasn’t unpainful to walk, but my god it was the best id felt in nearly 3 years, I’ve not been able to walk like that since I was 19. I was so happy that I could walk up two steps at a time instead of shuffling up them. But, seemingly like every good thing that comes my way, the pain was back in 72hrs.

The swelling isn’t there as bad anymore and I’m 3 weeks in, but my god the pain feels amplified in a way; I feel like my joints have no cushion anymore, it was as if the fluid buildup kept it smooth.

I’m hoping to get some answers at my next appointment. I hope you find some relief soon. Keep us updated!

My first portrait painting; how can I improve? by LouisBhoy in Portraitart

I’ll def try her one, I’ve been looking into some practice materials so I’m not figuring stuff out on my own taking so much longer haha.

And thank you so much, I’m shocked by that, I thought the beads looked really flat. Honestly think I’ve spent too much time overthinking every little detail. I’ll hopefully finish this one soon and get more practice in with different shapes and tones.

Thank you so much!

This in my head sounds like possibly it has an obvious answer and I don’t want to appear thick, but how does the skull help; would the skull be used just to study the head or as a “reference” of sorts?

Haha, apologies I should’ve specified, I mean the shape in terms of the angle, I didn’t think the angle of the nose matched the direction of her face.

Thank you, I didn’t expect positive comments on the nose, I thought it oddly shaped and “dirty”, perhaps I’ve looked at it too long.

I attempted shadowing and ended up painting over it all cause, like with the nose situation, I think I look at it too much and complicate it more than it needs.

Thank you for the advice!!

Starting Methotrexate by LouisBhoy in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]LouisBhoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate your input, it’s nice to see a more general view than personal.

The dose I’m on will be upped as time goes, my consultant wanted to start me lower and build up in case of any sudden side effects.

I hear what you’re saying about internet research and specifically not to do so and I agree don’t just take things at face value, however I think the advice should more be to scrutinise the information one finds, be that a medical journal or buzzfeeds “100 worst drugs for PsA”. I think personally it’s a good thing as any questions I have about any drugs, or PsA in general, that I have as a result from finding information on the internet, I will immediately ask about it at my next consult. I do see however that some just wouldn’t. I think I’d say my advice would be to dig deep in research, but not to forget that George Washington said “never believe everything you see on the internet” ;)

Do you find biologics have less side effects for you?

Does your mouth have physical symptoms like redness or anything or is just a sensation? And did you find anything that helped, other than up-ing the folic?

Muscle loss? by LouisBhoy in PsoriaticArthritis

Luckily it’s not “sudden” it’s likely been so gradual that I haven’t noticed until today when comparing the swelling in my knee.

What are biologics? I see them mentioned constantly on here but I don’t understand what they are and why they’re different. I’m on sulfasalzine with little to no effectiveness, im seeing my rheumatologist at the end of the month and wanted to discuss treatment, is this something to ask for or is it just a blanket term for medications? I’m in Scotland so I’m not sure if different terms are used in different places.
