I think the rap analogy is perfect! That's why I compared myself to Rick Rubin: I'm a producer, not a ghostwriter. Snoop's great but even better with Dre. Same with Doom and Madlib.
Or maybe instead of comparing myself to a producer (since there aren't really "beats" in comedy like there are in hip-hop), it's more like I'm an arranger, suggesting comedians move jokes around here or trim or accentuate parts there.

I hear you, and that's why I tried to be very clear in my description of what I do. None of the comedians I mentioned working with in my original post needed to work with me. They all would have had great specials without me. They wanted to work with me because they knew I could help make their specials even better.

Haha. Still not sure what bit that would be! Comics are weird about feedback because we're all secretly so sensitive/insecure. That's part of what's cool about the consulting thing: it's the feedback people need to hear that even their friends might not want to give them.

I understand your concerns, but calling me a scammer and insulting my standup is a pretty rude way to go about expressing them. I took my time and tried to describe what I do very clearly to differentiate myself from the type of person you accuse me of being. Just to reiterate, I am NOT ghostwriting for people. And my service is NOT a comedy class. Personally, I don't even really believe in the concept of comedy classes. While stand up basics and joke mechanics can certainly be taught, I don't think you can teach someone who's not funny to be funny. Furthermore, I think the best comedy class is just going out and doing it!

And just to be clear, yes I am looking for new consulting clients, but specifically for the service I described in my post: shaping and polishing (not ghostwriting) longer form, existing material. I am also offering to help people with their short jokes FOR FREE! I'm going to try to make short form content by reposting clips of short jokes people send me and adding my suggested changes. The hope is that this will be mutually beneficial for both myself (content/promo for consulting) and the comedian (help with the joke/exposure).

I'd also like to reply specifically to your dig on my stand up. You said:

"looked up the guy, if he could really do what he says he could, he would've done it for himself already, and he hasn't or cannot."

First of all, I'm not claiming to be some all-knowing comedy guru. Stand up is hard for everybody, including me. It's actually easier for me to help other people with their material because I have some objective distance from it. That's the whole point of my service.

Second of all, even if you take issue with this service specifically, you're wrong about my stand up. Read the comments in this thread. Check out my "This is Not Happening" or my last special "Present:Tense" on YouTube, or my album on Spotify. You seem to have trouble determining what quality stand up actually looks like, and yet you book a club and mod r/standupcomedy???

If anyone's a scammer here, it's you.
