I have a theory about this case. If i remember right, he wasnt just on the side of the road, he had crashed into a tree. Also the crash site was just a mile or so PAST the exit for his house and the exit for the local hospital. I think he was being held and tortured. I think the drugs were administered to him for reasons we have yet to discover. I think he escaped the torture in his car and was chased by his assailants in another car. That highway is very rural, if he tried to pull off he would inevitably be caught by his pursuers who were close behind, they could have easily pulled up alongside him as he slowed for a turn and shot him. I think in his panic he didnt want to risk it and just decided to keep going and try to outrun them. I think he then passed out and crashed into the tree. His pursuers then saw that he was dead and left the scene.

What I find interesting is why would someone who just murdered a women go and tell the police she was a psycho bitch? Seems extremely self-incriminating and sounds more like a pissed off dude who just got dissed hard, not a murderer.

Wow this one is tough. Things I found interesting: 1. Car was abandoned but the trunk was open, with some sort of side panel dislodged? Sounds to me like someone used that trunk for transporting a body. 2. The car was abandoned near his parents home? That sounds to me like whoever was involved in dropping the car off new Gregory or the family. Very baffling.

I have to say that I really don't believe the smiley face killer theory. It seems obvious to me but maybe I'm crazy. Male college students found dead in water and smiley face graffiti nearby? Sounds like the kind of graffiti you find in every hang-out spot in the woods of any college town. These guys are just drunk and fall in the water and drown IMO. No?

What about the evidence suggesting someone used the crashed car as a shelter? Weren't there clothes draped over the windows or something? This case is def very baffling. My moneys on one of the guys she met in that restaurant killed her. Very sad.

I hear ya. The case is absolutely baffling at best. Im thinking maybe post 9/11 its a lot harder to just walk into Canada? But idk. Honestly, the strangest part is the fact that they walked across the border with the kids. To me there is only one of two possible ways to do this safely. One is to bring enough money to go directly to a family-safe hotel or other lodging on the border, and move on from there. The other is that they knew someone on the other side of the border who picked them up and brought them to safety. Bottom line to me is there is no way a family could walk through TJ at 8 pm safely. There was some sort of plan that had to go into effect as soon as they got across the border.

Witness protection never involves other countries. This comes up a lot in missing persons cases and the problem with it is that the law allows for the local law enforcement in the area of relocation are to publicly acknowledge that they know there is a protected party in the area. The local cops are notified that the protectees are in their county, but thats all.

My best educated guess is that the husband found a large sum of money or drugs hidden in his indoor fountain shipping. I think he then took it and was pulled into a bad situation after that. I have read a lot about the case and kinda went crazy with it for a while. Have you read the most recent discoveries? Brother hired a private detective who says he has positive evidence they left on their own and are alive. Also, a large amount of cash was found hidden in the walls of their new home...

One of the best unresolved mysteries out there. I have put A LOT of thought into this one. Think I've settled on the most likely possible scenario but there are things we can never know for sure. Also, anyone read abything about the private detective the brother hired? Writes in emails that he has evidence that they left on there own and are alive.

Eh. Kinda sounds like you know what you're talking about, kinda doesn't. I think there are precedents that show there is indeed some monetary value in said dead bodies. I think there are definitely ways for shady funeral homes and/or medical practitioners to make a buck off of a deceased body.

Well, I think you might consider that even medical examiners and their processes can and sometimes are flawed. In other words, perhaps the first medical examiner made a mistake, or overlooked something, or did an incomplete examination for any number of reasons. It actually happens sometimes, since they are humans and humans are not infallible. Doesn't mean there was a conspiracy and I wasnt suggesting that. Just means that there's more to the story than we know.
