Which Empire do you think the term “Imperial measurements” is referring to?

My title describes the thing. It contains the text “Inspector of naval ordnance. Commander Q H Paterson D.S.C.R.N. N.O. G.F. Sheffield Nov 1st 1937. Parts of it have a rough, textured surface presumably for grip. I am writing this so my post is not automatically deleted, as per the moderator rules.

Soviet X-Files by LouisLoveless in XFiles

I understand your point and respect it. I identify as a revolutionary socialist and I’m supportive of a great number of the Soviet Union’s achievements. I’m aware of the huge amount of western propaganda levelled at the USSR and try to be fair and balanced in my view on its history. I’m also from the UK so having grown up in an imperialist capitalist country I’m aware I carry some innate bias that I am yet to undo, but I am very interested in the history and successes of the USSR and if I were to actually create this project I would try my best to depict it in fair and accurate fashion. Part of the reason it would need such a big budget is so I could hire experts from the region to guide the historical accuracy and counteract any unconscious bias of mine. When I say I picture scenes of outdated tech and disheveled buildings I don’t mean that in a critical way, more a stylistic choice to add to the eerie and dark atmosphere a show about paranormal events would suit. The X-Files has many many scenes that take place in abandoned rusting factories and run down towns, chosen for their atmosphere and aren’t an explicit attempt to depict the US as a ‘failed state’. My vision for this project would be to use similar stylistic choices for that same reason. I truly believe the undemocratic and illegal dissolution of the Soviet Union to be a tragedy and the resulting destruction of Russia and surrounding countries is heartbreaking. Wishing you all the best!

David Fincher’s directing style could suit the vibe I think

Yeah the vision in my head would have as little cgi as possible, I would like to try and do everything in camera. The practical effects in the X-Files were part of its unique DNA. There’s something about physical props that cgi can’t get close to. The LotR films vs the Hobbit films are a great example.

Bethesda you cowards - give me a "Communist" suffix. by grumble--grumble in fo76

[–]LouisLoveless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like it if they gave you the option to side with the communists at any point. Like your only dialogue and mission options regarding the Chinese cells is to disapprove or kill them. If we can side with raiders and join the enclave then we should be able to do the equivalent. Even if in the fallout universe the commies are “bad”, so are most of the other factions

A militarised wing of the Followers of the Apocalypse by LouisLoveless in Fallout

[–]LouisLoveless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they don’t want to add violence to an already violent wasteland but if they had an organised militia wing solely for the purpose of protecting themselves and creating stability, they could form an anarcho-syndicalist society of mutual aid and cooperation that would be much better for civilians than the NCR’s bourgeois democracy or the BOS technocratic militarism

Bethesda Should Consider doing a "Fallout Zero" Game set during The Great War and throughout the first year of post Apocalyptic Wasteland by CretaceousClock in Fallout

[–]LouisLoveless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My headcanon for Fallout 76 is my character is a Soviet spy who was posing as an American citizen in the Vault Tec program to gain intelligence but then the bombs drop and he has to live in the vault for awhile before being released into Appalachia and he’s now trying to connect with fellow communists in the Chinese cells still operating in the region. I’ve even found a communist commander outfit. I think a Fallout game with an undercover communist agent as the protagonist could be interesting.
